The Great Muta was seen at the Destination X PPV, but his main purpose for being in Orlando, FL on Sunday was to establish a working relationship between his All Japan Pro Wrestling promotion, and TNA.
Muta (the president of All Japan) and AJPW Director Masayuki Uchida worked out an agreement with TNA's Dixie Carter, Jeff Jarrett, and Andy Carter to exchange talent. This will likely end TNA's working relationship with New Japan Pro Wrestling.
Kurt Angle wrestled for NJPW on 2/18 in Tokyo, Japan. In the past, IWGP World Heavyweight Champion Hiroshi Tanahashi and legend Jushin Liger of New Japan have wrestled in TNA. The NJPW-TNA relationship appeared to be in danger following the recent resignation of Simon Inoki from New Japan. Muta not only met up with Angle, but the two posed for photographs. No word yet on which talent might be exchanged.

Muto vs Angle, as well as Kondo, Taru, and Yasshi vs the x-division makes me horny.

On a side note, I wonder if Muta licked Dixie Carter.
And you honestly think TNA will handle it correctly?

Let's hope they'll handle it correctly. If they get 2 hours, that'll be more matches and of better length.
Seeing Japanese stars against TNA stars = phenomenal. But I just hope nothing screws up.

Judging from past guests, TNA seems to have a better understanding, and more respect for forign wrestlers. Granted both Liger and Tanahashi did job, but they lost against some of tna's top talent, and were still made out to look strong. Whereas in WWE they'd be jobbing on velocity.
And you'd better believe they'd handle it right if someone the calibre of Muto appeared in TNA.

Shuji Kondo Vs Samoa Joe could be immense.

Shuji Kondo vs a hockey stick could be immense, whats your point?

Also, correct me if I'm wrong, as I don't watch TNA, but didn't Tanahashi appear before he was "big" in NJPW?
I wasn't a fan of how they handled Liger though.
Anyway, the bigger problem is that I feel TNA will misuse them as they will think the American audience won't know who the people are/perceive them as a threat. We'll see though.
Also, I will kill small children if Minoru Suzuki Vs Kurt Angle happens. Suzuki would bitch slap some sanity back into him.

Yeah, Styles was a bigger star than Tanahashi was at the time. Still is tbh.
As for Liger, the match was supposed to go longer and be more epic, but due to other matches taking longer than they were supposed to, it got cut down a lot. I honestly don't have a problem with Joe going over Liger.

I was there for the show with Liger, and the match was so disappointing to the group of us that went. If they wanted more time for that match, they'd have been better off cutting off something else or putting it on earlier as to guarantee the time for the bout.

Tomko & Giant Bernard just won the IWGP titles, i think

Nah, Tanahashi is way bigger than Styles.
Unless you're talking about just America, than I agree.

Well he of course is bigger in Japan, being IWGP champ and all. That said I havn't realy gotten comfortable with him as champ. Just seems rather forced. After Lesnar ditched I think it should have gone to a past champ like Tenzan, or even Nakamura. Then Tanahashi.
I dunno how to explain it, his run just feels cheap to me for some reason.

I felt that way at first, and I really wish Lesnar wouldn't have been a bitch and would have just dropped the title to him.
With that said, his defenses have been really good, especially his match with Nakamaru. I'm really looking forward to a Nagata/Tanahashi showdown.

And yes, Bernard and Tomko won the tag belts.

Bernard is pretty awesome in japan. Then again I always thought he knew how to work a good match. His series against benoit was pretty entertaining. He's always been one of the better big men, in my eyes.

TNA has been handling things correctly as of late though tbh.

Either that or I've just been paying attention to the Steiner/Angle feud.

Either that or I've just been paying attention to the Steiner/Angle feud.Funny, I think they've regressed past where they were about 5-6 months ago. They hit a groove then got offtrack.

That's TNA for you. They hit a groove, and then go backward. It's a never ending cycle with them.

03-14-2007, 09:37 PM
Yeah, I'm pretty sure TNA will fuck this up. I mean they imported Jushin Thunder Liger from Japan for a pay per view match... only to job him out in 10 minutes in the opening match.
Mr. JL
03-14-2007, 09:40 PM
Fuck, I assume they paid for all his accomodations and travel and you spend all that money for a 10 minute match? If you are going to import someone, pay their way I'd at least give him a 20 minute plus match on the card to get your full usage out of them.
Bad Company

TNA Needs to go back to a 4 sided ring if this happens.
