OK, so I've been hearing a lot about some way of hooking up a VCR to your laptop / PC and being able to copy VHS to your computer so you can burn it onto a DVD-R or upload it online, etc.

Forgive me if I'm 400 years behind everyone else, but - how does this work, what kind of connection / materials would I need, and roughly how expensive or inexpensive is this?

I ask because I'd love to be able to get some of my wrestling VHS' uploaded and burnt onto a DVD disc to free up some extra space at my house. Any help would be dandy. :y:

You'll need, at least, an RCA-in for your PC. USB ones like this one: http://www.amazon.com/ADS-Tech-Video-Xpress-USBAV-191-EF/dp/B0009UDABW/ref=pd_bbs_6/002-6101278-9959220?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1174310675&sr=8-6 would work well. Can't say anything about that one and can't say anything about the quality, but something like that will convert it to PC (in real time). Then you'd need to burn it to a DVD with a DVD burning program.

You want a Video Capture card.

BC is correct, you can buy capture cards bundledwith software pretty much anywhere. Look for one bundled with Pinnicle studio plus 10, it's very easy to use.
