View Full Version : WWE could have gotten themselves out of a jam here, but didn't (RAW Spoilers)
I'm not sure it was mentioned in the RAW thread, but after watching the Battle Royal they missed a huge opportunity to fix what they have fucked up (in my opinion).
As we know, Edge is undefeated at Mania. He's also in the MITB match. I seriously don't think Edge needs the win in the match, but I want to keep the streak alive, at least long enough for a Taker vs. Edge streak-for-streak match so there's some sort of pay off, instead of losing an 8 man match.
Of course, Edge won the battle royal and is still in the MITB. What I think they SHOULD have done is a double elimination. Flair and Carlito eliminate each other. There is a dispute and Vince comes out and says that since they both won, Edge is out of the MITB match, and so is Orton.
This continues the Carlito/Flair feud in the MITB match, and while it may be a bit early, put Edge vs. Orton on the card. Edge goes over obviously, keeping the streak alive.
Yeah, just a thought that pissed me off while watching RAW tonight. Thoughts?

Could still change.
Yeah, it could, but it's a bit obvious that it won't after they basically had the perfect angle dangling in front of them.

They've forgotten Edge is undefeated at WM. :shifty:

Imagine if vince actually had the mind control powers he thinks he does? WWE would still be on top.
Oh he does. They're just confined to the writing room.

yeah that's a pretty good idea Xero. I dunno though. Is it 100 percent certain that there is no way Edge might win this?
I'm not saying he won't. I'm just saying I don't think he needs it. Anyone else in the match could use it to their advantage, Edge is fairly established already.

I was hoping for something along the lines of Orton coming down and costing Edge the match 'inadvertantly'. Edge does the same in the Orton/Hardy match and then they are arguing after the match in the back.
Vince comes along and says he's sick and tired of the BS that has been going on with them, and they are BOTH out of the match and are facing each other at Mania one-on-one. Edge could kick up a fuss and say 'im not fighting him' and Vince would tell him to find his motivation as the winner becomes the No.1 contender for the title at Backlash. The loser goes to ECW.
'WHAT!? IM NOT GOING TO ECW! THAT THIRD RATE SHOW!'

addy2hotty, that's EXACTLY what should have/or still should, be done

Who cares, Edge is not the Undertaker.
Maybe because they actually have something to build at a future WrestleMania?
Guess it's too much for even fans to think forward more than two weeks now, huh?

I cant see Edge loosing the MitB match. I'm still pulling for an Edge/orton tie though.
...Why would Orton be removed from the MITB if there was a double elim, it has nothing to do with him.
...Why would Orton be removed from the MITB if there was a double elim, it has nothing to do with him.
Orton's the one who got him into the match in the first place, it makes sense from that perspective.
Why Vince would do it is another thing all together. It just melds well into the story.
I'd rather they not do Orton Vs. Edge for a good while and just build it up, to be honest.
I agree, but IF they took Edge out of the MITB and left Orton in, what would be Edge's place at Mania? It's the only viable way to keep the streak alive, give the MITB win to someone who needs it and put one of their top heels on Mania.

What about if Edge wins the MITB at mania and then loses it before he can use it. That would let Edge keep the streak and someone else get the MITB rub. Of course not starting from where they are would be a big help.

How would that take Orton out, and how is the WWE in a "jam"?

Because they either have to give Edge the MITB again, which he doesn't need, or have him lose, killing his WM streak. Not that he needs one, mind, but him having a streak going into WM24 would be a great way to end Undertaker's. And even if they don't do that, Taker won't be around forever, and having someone with an established streak of WM wins will be a good way to build future WM matches.
Exactly, it's not imperative to Edge's character, but it perfectly sets up Taker vs. Edge either at Mania 24 or 25.

Last I heard he had a torn bursar sack, whatever the fuck that is, which is why he hasn't been wrestling and coming up with excuses on Raw.

They could have Edge lose the match, I mean they ended ortons Survivor Series streak last year.

I'm just not seeing this as a jam. Sorry.
It's just my opinion that it's a jam. Not really is, the world isn't going to end because Edge loses the match (or wins it for that matter), but I just think it would be best for Edge not to be in the match at all.

Right. Wrestling is big on traditions, history, and so on. This streak is a positive thing, and it helps build up Edge and his Mania opponent. There comes a time when it should end, but it's kind of lame, win or lose.
It's not tragic, but Edge shouldn't be in there. Ending his streak in a 6 way novelty match is pointless, and Edge certainly doesn't need the MitB shot.

The sad thing is that I could see them having Edge not win the MITB and still calling him "unbeaten" at WM. Or "Edge has never been beaten one-on-one at Wrestlemania!" Which would be stupid because he's only HAD two one-on-one's at WM, everything else was a tag match with Christian or MITB. Wouldn't put it past them to do it though. "Bah Gawd Edge has never lost a singles match in Wrestlemania history!!!" Fuck that.

Yeah, Xero's right. They should have pulled Edge out of there. Have a heel win the Battle Royal, maybe Kenny Dykstra? The next week, Randy Orton defends his spot against Carlito. Edge costs Orton the match, because "If I can't be in Money in the Bank, you can't!" and we get Kenny and Carlito in the match, instead.
Ric Flair looked pretty awful in the ring on RAW. I'd just have him cut a promo with Carlito in the back, or something.
I guess there is still a chance Rated-RKO will lose a tag team match to Ric Flair & Carlito on RAW, or something.

The more i think about it, it just seems stupid to have Edge in there and not Carlito. Carlito would be perfect for this sort of match and he's not even on the card yet. I hope Edge wins and then Carlito or someone else challenges Edge for it after WM.
