Did anyone ever have on of these? What was it like to play? Personally, I've never actually seen one, or known anyone who had one.
It couldn't have possibly been good, right?

I rented one from Blockbuster when I was a kid, I don't remember a whole lot about it. I remember the stand was very flimsy and I was worried about it falling off the table. The graphics were just a bunch of red vector things, it didn't really look that good.
Also, I remember getting a huge headache and really dizzy after about an hour. Didn't really want to play it anymore.

I would play the Wario Virtual Boy demo at Hills back in the day.
It looked like crap.

The design of the system itself hurt it alot. It really couldn't be portable and you needed the legs to be intact in order to support the bulk. The fact that the color scheme was strictly red and black was another strike against it. Add that to the fact that it was a pretty hefty price tag (I believe $250) and that it was being released during the big next-generation wars at the time (1995), the thing really didn't stand a chance. As Silent noted, there were some risks involved in using the Virtual Boy. I remember playing it at a Target and being dizzy once I stopped.

Here's a shot of what it looked like for those who never saw it:

I've seen one but never bothered to play it.
I had it. Pretty shitty. Didn't like any game other than the Tennis game (which may have actually came with it).
This is an example of what it basically looked like:

It was basically 2D characters on a 3D plane in infrared.

I always thought it was cool. I tried it out in stores or at blockbuster, but only ever for about a minute or two. I remember that I always asked my parents to get me one.
Shortly after Virtual Boy was released, I remember reading in an issue of Nintendo Power that "Virtual Girl" was being developed and was going to be full colour. I guess that due to the failure of Virtual Boy, the future versions were scrapped.

my best friend had one and we used to play it all the time. I would play that Wario game for hours...(granted they said you shouldnt play for more than an hour with out stopping)..
I guess thats why I have some eye damage now...it was worth it I guess...wish I had one now.

Fucked with my eyes, so I never bought one. Worst idea in gaming...Or pretty close.
I got one at a toy liquidation place for like $30. Came with tennis and I got Wario. Or it might have been the other way around. I had fun with it, but got boring after awhile.
I don't remember what I did with it. :?:

Black and red, it sucked. I entered a contest to win one when it was first released and all I won was a damned virtual boy hat. I'm glad I won that damn hat and not the system. Based on what everyone is saying it apparently would have fucked up my eyes
