Why is the first hour called 'Raw', and the second hour is called 'Raw Zone' ?

I think it has to do with the way they set up the ratings. I think they're considered two shows.

I remember back in 97/98 the War Zone (what the second hour was called back then) had it's own opening and recap for a while.

That way on a paper stand point it's two one hour programs. Because of this the first hours lower ratings don't bring "Rawzones" numbers down. Thus giving them a greater chance of being able to claim themselves as "no.1 cable program" type shit. Amongst other reasons.

Well, the problem being that Monday Night Raw is broken down by the Nielsens as two hours of the same program, still. Both are called "WWE Raw," I I'm remembering right. That's why you can't tell which hour did better (Though you can bet on it being the second).

TV Guide and Comcast both list it as one show. So where is it called Raw Zone anymore?

EDIT: Yeah, I meant show, not hour.

It's listed as one show in most listings.

It's only called "RAW Zone" on-air and the commentators will, extremely rarely, say something like "welcome back to the RAW Zone". . I'm pretty sure they show it at the end of the second hour when they do the copyright.

I've never seen it on copyright TMK. Nor have I noticed it on air in a LOOOOONG time. On the other hand, I haven't been looking.

Anyway, there is no reason to do it for ratings, as like I said, Nielsen Media treats both hours as separate hours of programming but lists them as the same, and then also gives an overall program rating.

In the second hour all the graphics on screen will say Raw Zone, although like Xero said they'll rarely actually say it. And the fact that once the first hour of Raw is over the Copyright "All Rights reserved" graphic will just pop up in the middle of a match. Just something that bugged me and I wanted to know why.

Yeah, it's in the copyright. Watch RAW tonight KK, you'll see.

Well, I'll take your word for it. I'm not watching Raw just to check the copyright.

It's been that way since 97. At 10 oclock they put the trademark box in the lower right corner. That's also why you have a major attraction of the evening take place at exactly 10, when they flash the copyright in the bottom and the "Raw zone begins" Like tonight, Vince vs Lashley started at exactly 10 with Vince entering after teh commercial and the copyright logo.

After 9-11, the War was dropped from Raw is War and WarZone. Making it just Raw and Rawzone. And though they don't mention it hardly ever if at all anymore, its still divided up into two parts for reasons as people have already stated.

But yes, Comcast just calls it Raw as they do on the website and advertisements and just about everyone does.

During the promo with Eugene and Vince last night they had "RAWZone" in the "during the break (i think)" graphic.

TBH, I've always found my eye drawn to the TV rating thing.

"Waiter, there's logic in my soup."

"I'm sorry, sir, this is NOT up to WWE standards! Your meal will only cost you $39.94 tonight."
