View Full Version : Create a Mt. Rushmore for Sports Entertainment

If you had to design a monument for Sports Entertainment like Mount Rushmore, what 4 faces would you put on it and why? It can be anyone you can think of, but you can only have 4.
I'm going with this lineup in no particular order:
1. Vince McMahon - love him or hate him, it was his company that made wrestling mainstream and he's been the most successful for the longest period of time.
2. Hulk Hogan - Hogan haters, try to understand that he was the poster child for the company that first went mainstream. You all say that almost anyone could have filled that role. Well, they didn't, Hogan did.
3. The Rock - He's had the most mainstream success outside of wrestling.
4. Andre The Giant - Everyone over the age of 20, whether they know of wrestling or not, knows this name. He's sold out arenas and stadiums from New York to Tokyo and even had some mainstream exposure in TV and film.
I know my list is going to be controversial and before you ask, yes, I did consider Inoki, Baba, Flair, Gange, Crockett, Austin, Karl Gotch and I almost put Georgous George instead of Andre.

How dare you disgrace Austin like that...
Bottom line is it would be Vince, Hogan, Austin. The 4th is up for some debate, but I think it'd be safe to say it's the Rock.

Austin seems to get no credit when he's really the guy who saved the WWF and brought wrestling into another boom period that was as close to mainstream as it will ever get. He's often times underrated and I feel empty inside when I read people talking about Rock and shit and not mentioning Stone Cold.

Ric Flair, Andre The Giant, Hulk Hogan, Vince McMahon.
Close runners: Austin, Thesz, Sammartino, Rogers, Crockett, Gotch, Hackenschmit, and finally Ray Stevens (though honestly, he's a hell of a long shot).

You know, Mount Rushmore includes presidents from the range of American history and shows the full spectrum.
It's not like its 4 of the forefathers from one era. So why do so with this. Vince and Hogan belong, and I would say either Flair or Andre do too. But I insist on Austin being on there. Just my opinion.
Ric Flair, Andre The Giant, Hulk Hogan, Vince McMahon.

Wow, you actually gave Hogan some credit?!
And you placed him (one space over from the spot) next to RIC FLAIR!?

He did NOTHING to deserve his ungodly push. He did even less to give back to the industry. He's a self serving, self promoting peice of shit who I've have wished death upon more than any other person on this earth...and while I maintain he was a puppet put in to a designed machine, even my loathing and hatred of him can't discredit the impact he did have...deserved/warrented or not...

In my opinion, it would have to be Hulk Hogan, Ric Flair, Stone Cold Steve Austin and Vince McMahon.
Would Flair's inclusion to Mt. Wrestmore make it Space Mountain Wrestmore? :shifty:

I like to call Christian "The REAL Total Package." Here's a guy who loves the business, and continues to really push himself to live up to all the hype. Unfortunately, a lot of marks have decided that doesn't, and that he's been exposed as a mediocre talent. But I think Christian is awesome and has a shit load of untapped ability.
