pretty crazy, the movie is based off of megaladon, the great ancesetor of the great white shark...basically, think of a shark SO big, it wouldnt even think of you as a light snack.

Actually its debated if they do or not...lets not forget that squid we just found that was HUGE at 990 some odd pounds. theres some video footage of what they think is megaladon, check youtube.

There's this Australian guy down here, named Vic Heslop (or something like that), and he hunts great white sharks because he has this theory that nature has fucked up, and sharks are at the top of the food chain and their numbers aren't controlled. He suggests man be the ones to hunt them.

Anyway, he found this shark tooth of this shark, and he reconstructed the size of what the shark would be, and it was pretty fucking big. It could swallow me whole if I agreed with it (which one wouldn't). He has theories that there are some massive ones still out there.

Which isn't even as larges as we think they can get.

The movie's still a shitty idea (And I already thought there was one made), but it's very possible larger things still exist.

I did some amateur research, and apparently they think the Megalodon still existing is unlikely, as they believe it was a coastal shark.

It scares the shit out of me that sharks that massive were at one stage swimming onto our shelves and warmer waters.

Jaws is an important film because it was the first modern blockbuster of American cinema. It created a season for blockbusters with huge budgets and huge release numbers. It also introduced the trend of licensing films and characters for merchandise. The soundtrack was also huge in promoting the movie and was one of the first film soundtracks to make a sizeable amount of money. It was the first film with trailers on network television. The focus of movie producers shifted from making money at the box office to money merchandising (and eventually syndication and VHS/DVD sales) Jaws is responsible for the movie going experience of today.

I'd like to see the Megaloadon do THAT

Jaws was also a crafty movie, and didn't just throw sharks at the screen. It is doubtful that this will be even as well made as Jaws, let alone as iconic.

I think the Jaws thing was just a joke, though, being that the Great White would get anally raped by Megs on any given day.

I think a satire would be the best way to handle the concept of a giant shark. Set it in the near-future, and have the greenies succeed in saving the whale, and global warming makes the polar regions warmer. The survival of larger prey and more negotiable waters for sharks allows larger species to survive and thrive, and start making their presence felt on the coasts.

I just want to hear lines like "We saved the whales but continued to use fossil fuels. We've created a Hell!" and "The increasing obesity of the average American serves as an alternative diet to the usual whale-based feeding of the Megalodon."

That's an unfair challenge. Meg will be cool but it's not a revolution in cinema by any chance.

Dolphins used to be dogs. I'm sure if a dog can grow a blowhole, a giant shark can move deeper into the sea, along with the other leviathans of the deep.

Yes, this movie was already made, I rented it, and didn't watch abit, instead I posted on here, as it was that boring. Worst seven bucks I eever spent on a weeklong movie rental.

And it was on Sci-Fi like two weeks after it came out.

Umm, this isnt for the movie that sucked and came out, its for a new one due out in 2008 based off of a book by a writer whos pretty good at this type of stuff, has a good book about loch ness too.

If this film is based on the book I think it is, (can't remember the name of it, but had a sequel called "The Trench") then it could be pretty good.

But that wasn't really much of a trailer. That looked more like a cheap, crappy some bored guy made to put on youtube.
