It's a pretty funny movie. If you dig Will Ferrell playing Will Ferrell, you'll dig this.

does anyone else just want to strangle jon heder? he was funny as a napoleon dynamite character but anywhere else he comes off as extremely unlikable and irritating.

He got too good a role in Napoleon Dynamite.
That should have been his 3rd or 4th movie. Then it'd be easier to appreciate his other stuff. As for him, personally, he has an air of smarminess about him.

Stranger Than Fiction is the only Will Ferrell movie that really stood out for me. Everything else he does just seems the same.

Will Arnett movies seem to be real crap imo, which sucks because he's great on TV.
kinda hoping against hope this is gonna be different

This might be the movie that pushes people to think Ferrel has done one too many of these types of movies. Then again perhaps it'll be as funny as some of his others. Sure hope so, but I think the charcter in this one he plays is too colourful, not 'everyday' enough, if you get my meaning...

Just got back from seeing it...Will Farrell does pretty much play the same character in this movie as he has played in the other ones. He pretty much acts the same as Ricky Bobby.
It was a pretty funny movie. Not his best...definently no Anchorman.....but it was still pretty good. Everytime Heder talked you pretty much pictured Napoleon Dynamite, thats sad...

Jon Heder himself seems like a nice guy, but the "Get it? I used to be Napoleon Dynamite, I'm good at this role," shit makes me want to slap the fuck out of him, and throw him into a challenging movie where he actually has to act. Then it will be sink or swim time for Heder.
Will Arnett is indeed the man. It's a shame he hasn't really been in a great movie, yet. I think this will put his star on the rise, though, and then it's only a matter of time until he ends up in something better than the usual "comedy" shit.
Will Ferrell isn't actually that funny, in my opinion. I think he would be great company, but I don't consider him a comedy genius. I think what really works for him is his comedic timing. Ferrell has just built an empire out of that talent, though, so good for him.
I haven't actually seen it myself, but for another Ferrell movie that is somewhat different from his Anchorman norm, check out Winter Passing. It's got Zooey Deschanel in it, so there's another plus. It's about an aging writer who lives with Ferrell, a former student, and then his daughter comes to visit. Ferrell basically plays Ferrell, but in more of a dramatic environment, apparently. He basically plays a needy guy who can sing and lay the guitar, but has a weird thing about doing it both at once in public. I actually have the same thing, so maybe that's why I'm so eager to see it.

Haha yeah what Shaggy said, Napoleon Dynamite flashbacks everytime Heder spoke. But I really liked the movie, defintely worth the 8 bucks.

It wasn't bad, but it was the least funny when compared to Anchorman and Talladega Nights. There were a lot of "LOL" moments, but no "ROFL" moments.
