The planned Summerslam Main Event
Posted by: wrestling-radio.com

We previously reported that Rey Mysterio Jr. is in line for big push when he returns to action. According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, the planned SummerSlam main event is Mysterio against McMahon.

Thank god! I thought you were going to say Rey Vs Taker.

As long as Rey stays away from the title I'm all for him getting a push.

A match against McMahon would be interesting though, as he's not a worker it's going to be tough for Rey to use his normal offense against a guy who doesn't know how to sell it. Basically all he can do on him realistically is the 619. Plus Vince is legit bigger than him, so logically and knowing the way that Vince will probably book this, Vince will come across like a monster and dominate him

So this is what, the sixth time this "spoiler" has been posted? It might not even be so bad if it wasn't an entirely logical thing to happen after the last time Mysterio was seen.

Rey Mysterio: I'm disgusted that you used my friend Eddie like you did!

McMahon: I didn't hear you complaining when you were picking up you paycheck....

I'd mark out for a Vince-1-9.

I'm actually looking forward to this in a bizarre kind of way. Vince usually works with his main event guys, and sure Rey is a main eventer, but he's a fucking luchadore. It's going to be interesting to see their match unfold.

Rey should probably start strong, with a basement dropkick to the leg, and just a quick onslaught, before Vince dodges a crossbody from the top rope to the floor, or something, and starts beating Rey down and then pressing the power advantage. I would mark out for a spot where Vince military pressed Rey above his head, and then tossed him to the floor.

I can never understand how you can switch from "Val Venis could have been huge" to "Vince wrestling could be cool" mode.

As long Rey doesn't use Guerrero's name, I'm all for him getting a push.

LSD and other acids...

Val Venis being something more than a jobber is more my fantasy, Vince and Rey working a match at Summerslam seems to be likely. I kind of flick between reality and a dream-like state.

Who wants to bet he uses the Frog Splash when he returns?

I know the Umaga beat-down will likely be the inspiration for this feud, but I really wouldn't mind it if they did do something like that.

I don't know how they could make the subtle transgression into it. Maybe have Vince fire Vickie Guerrero, or something, and Rey comes out and tells Vince that he's been exploiting the Guerrero name, and just have Rey break the fourth wall and talk about how he's sick of being forced to dedicate every match to Eddie, and how he's forced to wear arm bands with his name on it so he looks like Eddie's boy. He loved Eddie, but the way Vince has him act, Eddie is still under contract, and his legendary name is property of World Wrestling Entertainment.

Then have Vince drop the "I didn't hear you complaining when you were picking up your paychecks," line, and have Rey walk out of the WWE, because "he's not going to put up with this shit anymore." Then Linda McMahon can rehire Rey Mysterio because he's "too good to be let go," so he returns and is put in a match with Vince.

I know you were joking with your remark, but I think a kayfabe-breaking feud between Vince and Rey would feel like the good old Attitude era days.

I certainly wouldn't bet against it.

Rey away from the title is cool for me.

Terrible.

1. Get Vince out of storylines.
2. Don't give Rey a main event title push again if they plan on going that route.

For some odd reason, I think Vince will be wearing a Luchadore mask or something by this time.

Vince on smackdown is better than vince on Raw.

Vince on smackdown is better than vince on Raw.

That's something I was going to bring up, as well. But then it occurred to me that Rey could very well jump to RAW.

I hope you are right, though. :y:

....What the hell is wrong with you people? This will suck, why would you want McMahon v.s Rey when Umaga would be much better?

I have pretty much 0 interest in this. BUT, as long as Rey doesn't steal another title run and then be promptly jobbed to everyone and their grandma then it isn't the worst possible outcome.

Rey vs. Umaga would be better, but they'll probably have him re-packaged or elsewhere by the time Summerslam rolls around.
