well, i kinda think you see my similarities minus cena doesnt poltic as much as he doesnt say "well, maybe i shouldnt win this match for the 2nd year in the row, the same god damn way i did the year before with people hating it" and just remains Vince's pet.
Impact!

Beside a lenghty title reign(s) and being "close" to Vince there's no real similarities at all...

Triple H in 01 was an excellent wrestler. Cena has never been excellent.

Cena's been consistantly entertaining whereas HHH just had this really bad slump where it was all self-serving interviews and boring matches intended only to make himself look like the star. There's no comparison.

Keep in mind that Cena got over on his own despite some booking mishaps in 2003. HHH has never had any real powerful period of being immensely over on his own. He's always had to be surrounded by someone (Chyna, Shawn, D-X, The McMahons, Austin, Flair, Evolution, Shawn again)
Even if Cena does complain (and I'm sure at the height of the heat he did a few times) they wouldn't take the title off him.
They'd give him another title. Maybe that's why they gave him the tag titles with Michaels...

HHH rules, Cena sucks. HHH has worked for years and developed his character, Cena was rammed down our fucking throats.
Also, in deffence to Eddie Griffin, he is from Kansas City. The roads here suck. He obivously didn't know how to handle such smooth roads, and boom, accidents happen.

Difference is that Triple H is one of the best big match wrestlers of all-time. Cena can't wrestle.

Hell no.
Barring HHH/Steiner, his matches were always good. And that lengthy reign restored credibility to a belt that was held by david aequette and vince russo.

I don't mind Cena's reign at all. When the next SCSA comes along, Cena will be playing the Bret Hart and put him over. It will bring on another wrestling boom, which is worth waiting for.
or
Cena turns heel in a surprise fashion a la Hogan in 96 and wrestling boom ensues. Either way, Cena hell turn will be huge.

No it didn't.
You guys complain how every Cena match is the same well every HHH match ended stupid screwjob intereference which got way too old. Then you guys complain how Cena does the same corny promos well HHH did the same 25 promo mintue every week.
I'm a HHH supporter but that whole time was terrible.

Most heels use interference of some kind to win matches, especially main eventers.

I'm a well aware of that, but repeatedly seeing it in PPV matches got kinda old.
And also it's not like Cena's matches have been all that bad recently. In fact I would say they have been good.

Was there EVER a WCW PPV without interference in a big match after the nWo really got rolling?
Personally, I'd rather watch HHH wrestle than Cena, on any day of the week, against anyone. One of those Flair types that can have a good match with anyone.
See Bubby Dudley and Spike Dudley for some forgotten gems.

I don't ever hear any reports of Cena trying to dick people over. He's not ENTIRELY a fuckwit.
No, but he apparently hangs out with the McKliq, and that is pretty dickie of him. Good for his career, but it makes him a dick.

The difference is that HHH was a heel during this time. So at least the crowd reactions and fan sentiments were fitting with his character at the time.
You had a heel that people hated, and heel that took on and beat (be it cleanly or cheaply) a plethora of big faces. This was at least entertaining to people.
Now we have a Superman push for a superface who takes on heels, yet gets booed.
Even though he was no selling or squashing, I found the title picture to be far more interesting when you had HHH defending against a string of compettitors like Shawn, Kane, Booker T, Nash, Goldberg, Benoit and others. It was more interesting, unpredictable (since you wondered when and where he'd finally job) and of course the quality of matches was better. It also was a change of pace.
Now you have Cena, who continues to be fed top names who outcheer him regardless of how they're booked. The only wrestlers who's been able to have an actual fued with Cena and make the thing work is Edge.

Cena definitely has been HHH-ing the title over the last couple years. And he's almost been known as the career killer as well. Almost all of his notable title feuds have led to problems for his opponents. Go back to JBL, now retired. Chris Jericho, gone. Christian, gone. Angle, gone. Edge is the only one who is currently active, and he got dropped from the title scene in September, though he appears to be working his way back now.

Edge wasn't dropped from the title scene really. Technically yes, but working a fued with DX is just about as main event as the WWE title, in WWE's eyes and such. Especially since him and Orton came out of it pretty well and weren't completely buried.

You're gonna blame JBL's retirement, Kurt Angle's firing, and Jericho and Christian's respective gripes on John Cena? Man, we really are stretching for reasons to diss him.

Well, Cena spiked JBL's Chunky Monkey with lard, which forced him to retire. Also, he got him his job as an analyst.
Christian? Vince took little guys seriously as main eventers before that. Jericho? Burned out. why? Because he was jobbing to Cena. Unlike before, when he was as respected as the Rock. And, of course, Cena switched unrine specimens on Angle.
But why stop there? I mean, Vince has shown interest in Cena and Cena hasn't told him to go fuck himself.
Cena hasn't actually made anyone look bad or buried anyone, so what?
I dislike Cena, but Triple H was worse. Cena's more the end result of Vince's delusion that he understands the market better than a retarded monkey. Cena's not a bad guy, and he's not as talentless as people make him out to be. It's just that with him on top for so long, people are clammoring for reasons to justify what should simply be "he'd the same guy he was 3 years ago, and it's dull as fuck."
Cena's a rash.
Triple H is the kind of shit your doctor doesn't know how to break to you, Jimmy.
Triple H is entertaining, but entertaining alone does not make you good for the business.

I'm not really blaming Cena for what happened to those guys. But I was just pointing out how odd it is that only Edge in his notable feuds is still an active wrestler in WWE, and it's only been over a 2 year span.

Cena definitely has been HHH-ing the title over the last couple years.
HHH used his influence to make himself look better by burying opponents who might threaten his position. It may also be argued that he used his friendship with Michaels to get to the top in the first place; at the very least, that's what got him to the upper-midcard. Cena got himself over despite some initial mishandling of his new gimmick. The fans got behind him when he started at the bottom, and support was what lifted him to the top. Since being on the top, he has apparently taken what feuds and opponents he has been given, with the outcomes given to him. Hardly fair to compare a man who accepts his good fortune without complaint to a man who does everything in his power to stay on top.
And he's almost been known as the career killer as well. Almost all of his notable title feuds have led to problems for his opponents. Go back to JBL, now retired.
Due to injury that can hardly be laid at Cena's doorstep.
Chris Jericho, gone.
After years of being held to the ground by HHH and used as a midcard rodeo clown by the creative team.
Christian, gone.
By his own desire; Cena hardly forced him out. Christian left because he realized he had gone as high as he was likely to go traveling his current path. TNA has made him a focus in ways WWE never would, and given him a chance to be called World Champion. A sad commentary on his misuse by WWE creative, not on Cena's actions.
Angle, gone.
The man drove himself out of the company, and he's going to drive himself into the grave if he doesn't stop soon. If Cena is responsible in any way for his leaving WWE, then Cena ought to be awarded a <s>medal</s> trophy.
Edge is the only one who is currently active, and he got dropped from the title scene in September, though he appears to be working his way back now.
What, would you have wanted to see solid Edge vs Cena for the past seven months?! Hate Cena if you must, but come on man, you'd have had a better point if you'd said you don't like him cause his ears are funny lookin.'
