I'm watching this live stream: http://www.myeyewitnessnews.com/default.aspx (click the banner) and Lawler just announced that he can't do the match because of WWE's contract and Hogan's contract with VH1 in that he can't appear on Hogan's show. Now he's changing the match.

How can I possibly go on with my day now?

Mercury Bullet

Not that I really give a damn, but thats pretty shitty if the WWE's contract with Lawler is the reason this can't go down.

Not that it needs to go down anyway, but still...it's the principle.

Xero

It makes sense, they can't have anyone appear on any other TV show without their permission.

Mercury Bullet
04-12-2007, 12:30 PM
Yeh, but you'd think they would allow it to happen. Instead, they want to be bitches.

Xero
04-12-2007, 12:32 PM
Well, yeah. That was one of the big things why Hogan wouldn't come back, Vince didn't want him filming his show.

Mercury Bullet
04-12-2007, 12:33 PM
Yeh, and thats just shitty on the WWE's part all around. But what is anybody going to do about?

...And they know it and really don't care. So, meh.

WWE is doing the industry a service by preventing this public abortion

Shame.

They could've done good business.

Especially with the undercard having all the names they had listed in addition to the main event. Hopefully they can re-work this thing, and maybe get the headline match to be Hogan -v- Savage, and have Lawler work with someone like Terry Funk; they've also feuded, so it makes sense.

Xero
04-12-2007, 12:36 PM
LOL, Hogan just suggested that he's too old to draw.

ROFL, like he believes that.

Hogan vs Savage. HA!

Maybe if it's in a bar with broken bottles

Xero

I think it's going to be Hogan/Big Show.

ROFL, SHOW'S NOW CALLED "PAUL THE GREAT WHITE"!?

Mercury Bullet

Paul The Great White

Holy hell that might be the stupidist thing I've heard.

Jeritron
04-12-2007, 12:41 PM
You know what this means don't you?...

DENNIS FUCKING STAMP

he's finally getting that main event booking.

Mercury Bullet

So wait....does this mean Paul Wight isnt under WWE contract anymore?

Xero
04-12-2007, 12:47 PM
His contract expired a few months ago.

Mercury Bullet

I thought the expiration was coming up soon, I didn't realize he was already gone. Well, damn.

I guess I've been living under a rock....or in India!

Dunno, probably has nothing to do with the link in the first post or the fact that I was watching a stream of some sort.

You think maybe if Hogan had been a little less of an ass towards WWE in recent months maybe they would have let Lawler do it?

Jeritron

Yes.

I don't see a problem with exclusivity. The show isn't a WWE production and Lawler is under contract with WWE. It'd be like TNA wanting him to do a guest spot or something. Maybe he can get permission although I don't exactly see that going well for him: "God dammit, King! We already gave you the Hall of Fame and weekly access to hot women so you can scream 'PUPPIES' all the time! What more do you want?"

I wouldn't see a problem with letting Lawler go ahead and do it, but they have every right (and reason) not to. WWE does let guys do outside shows from time to time, depending on who, and the circumstances.

Yeh, but TNA and MCW are on entirely differenct scales. MCW isn't going to rise up and dethrone the WWE has the king of sports entertainment. And isn't MCW loosely connected to the WWE?

^ In reply to my own post, doesn't look like TNA is going to do anything either. But, you get what I mean.

The thought crossed my mind.

But honestly, when I first heard about this, I clearly remember thinking, 'Yeah, that'll never happen.'

Maybe this is still just a cover up for Hogan backing out, just to make him look like not quite as big of an a-hole. Maybe Show offered to job to him so he gave Lawler the boot.

At today’s press conference, Hulk Hogan stated that he had a premonition the proposed match with Jerry Lawler would be changed as a result of WWE’s interference. Hogan said that Lawler told him he would quit WWE if they insisted he didn’t wrestle The Hulkster on 4/27. Hogan said WWE’s interference was a personal shot against him. WWE insisting that NBC/Universal talent can’t appear on “Hogan’s Knows Best” since its on VH-1 is ridiculous since Hogan has been filmed at WWE’s events, and Vince McMahon himself appeared in a recent episode that including on going negotiations between Hogan and WWE. Hogan said his upcoming match with Paul Wight (The Big Show) will be the match that fans should have seen at Wrestlemania. Hogan stated that “Big Show” is a slave name, and he’ll now be known by his real name, Paul Wight. Wight is tight with Hogan, and actually turned WWE’s most recent non-talent contract to be available for any future Hogan related wrestling opportunities. Dave Meltzer reports that Wight has lost 60 pounds since leaving WWE.

Sure Lawler was gonna quit... Hogan will say Big Show is 44 feet tall and 674 tons after he slams him...

Damn right St. Jimmy! Big show should show a bit more loyalty to the company that has payed his wage for all these years, and let him sit on his ass for the last 3 months of his contract skiving away...

Yeah your probably right, he was just skiving, it wasn't like he was staying on longer than agree'd to keep the ECW brand strong or anything, not to mention the times in the past he's put off surgeries for the good of the company (see Lesner leaving) Show has paid his time off to Vince and made his money, he wasn't fired and decided to leave and still shit all over the company. Maybe all the people that were fired ain't bitching, they are speaking sense and it is shit working for Vince, but Show is the first guy who can make the argument without bias as he left of his own accord.

In conclusion, I don't blame show for doing whatever he wants, in his last 3 years he was great, a true pro, put over loads of guy and still maintained a level in the card that made him a threat, he was a valuable member of the card who will be near impossible to replace.

Not to get too far off-topic about this, but I mentioned to my mom the other day how much I've come to hate Hulk Hogan. She was appalled.

That's a fair point Dave, but he could've kept some credibility and honor by not bitch-whinging just to suck up to hogan. I never liked hogan or big show anyway though, maybe i'm a little bit biased, not that it matters
