View Full Version : What makes me sick about WWE

The fact that a guy like Mike Awesome never got a fair shake in wwe. Just been watching this vid ( http://youtube.com/watch?v=QC_X6Bq72DM ) and some of the things he was able to do just blows my mind considering his size. Whens the last time in wwe you seen a crucifix powerbomb being delivered from a guy standing on the top rope? That guy really seemed to be the total package and never really got used at all in wwe.
I guess Randy (rest hold) Orton and John (my gimmick died a death) Cena were more important because they were younger. The guy was 42 years old and was doing stuff a much younger wrestler of the same weight and height wouldn't even consider. :n:

If I remember correctly, the only time I got to see Mike Awesome live, he lost to Faarooq on Velocity...and then went on on that episode of SmackDown! to get yelled at by Stephanie McMahon along with a group of other wrestlers for watching footage of Raw in the lockerroom.

I dont get it though, wtf is it with them that they have guys that can do amazing things in the ring but always opt for some clueless cock that has a list of moves that totals three...and one of them is walking. :wtf:
Awesome if used properly could have easily been wwe champion, he wasn't the strongest on the mic but in the ring for entertainment value he was a fuck load better than some (actually most) of the wankers we have to watch week in week out these days.
Orton?? ive had more entertainment watching a constipated hobo trying to squeeze out a shit after three curries. Cena...you can't see me...believe me i wish i couldn't. Edge, i got heel heat cause i fucked lita. :shifty:
Its not a bit of wonder wwe is incapable of climbing up the ratings again, they had guys that were entertaining but they go with the tools that have dumb little catchphrases or can memorise a half assed "freestyle" that is the only thing that gets them over then gets dropped from the character.

The guy was bland as hell and was overshadowed by people that were either a) better on the mic, b) younger, or c) non-dependent on ECW style wrestling. I'm saddened by his death but no way was the guy anything special to the point where he was going to be an amazing asset to the WWE.

Honestly, I thought Awesome was pretty good on the mic, especially when he was playing a bad ass. Being a random jobber on weekend filler shows has made lots of guys "bland" (this isn't just in response to you, even though I quoted you for some reason.).

I wouldn't say he was dependant on ecw style at all, he was a big man that could do shit that usually only cruiserweights would do. Then he was obviously a powerhouse to a degree so you were getting 2 styles in the one wrestler. Thats a rarity, usually theyre either "hosses" or theyre lightweights and thats it.
With the wrestlers they have had as champion ive no doubt awesome could have been wwe champion at one point or other.

The best bands are usually not the best sellers. The best books are usually not #1. The best movies are often dwarfed by the summer blockbusters.
The best wrestlers usually don't make it to the top. You come to live with these things.
And if you can't, might I recommend a solo game of Russian Roullette?

Who in the hell is holding a gun up to your head and telling you to watch? If you're that disgusted with the product, then don't watch it.

With a magazine loading pistol with a round already in the breach. I know what you mean, fucking annoying though they had the guy under their nose for ages and because he wasn't a "wwe bred" talent he really got fucked over.

Mind you Awesome got released in 2002, the same year both Orton and Cena debuted and two years prior to either one of them even receiving the vaguest hints of a major push.

Yea man, it sucks but there was so much untapped talent at that time. I can think of guys in 2000-2001 who should have been pushed harder and more according to their talent than Mike Awesome.

I mainly watch it to see what shit theyre putting out this week. You sometimes get the odd decent match, don't really know till after the show. :(
Lately ive not bothered as much, used to be id enjoy watching it, these days it feels more like a chore. :-\ Watch it more out of habit than anything.

Awesome would've had to have shared time with Brock. Or more accurately, been destroyed by him.

He had his own segment on WCW when he was using his 70's gimmick. I don't know how much that's worth. (Probably nothing)

Id class brock as almost in the same mold as awesome, strong guy with some agility and moves you wouldn't expect from a guy of that size. Then again if he did come back to wwe he'd probably be jobbing to Mae Young or something.

I agree, it sucks. I've just stopped getting emotional about it. I mean, I enjoy the guys when they get TV time. London and Kendrick, for example, will be jobbed out, split up, and forgotten.
But right here, right now, I love them, and am thankful they get TV time, even if they job to the same guys like four weeks in a row.

Mike Awesome was so fucking over in ECW. Anyone who was at a show can agree, I have never heard 600 people make so much noise.
Except when Raven came back to win the title with Tommy. That was an amazing Pop. A Hige WTF Moment

Mike Awesome was amazing, I loved him in ECW, FMW, and his wrestling in WCW was amazing as well, prooving that he didn't have to rely on extreme wrestling to get over. WWE did drop the ball on Mike Awesome, he could have been a great addition to the upper mid-card and had he gotten over enough possibly the main event. Although I would personally put him in the IC title division and Tag team division.

Okay, at 5 hours of TV time a week, where would you have the time for Awesome? Who would you drop the ball on? Benoit? Jericho? The Rock? Angle? Steve Austin?
It's just a sad case of too many fish in the sea. Awesome was, as his name says, awesome in ECW because there weren't too many fish and the pond wasn't too big.
Jeritron

exactly my point. With the talent pre-invasion there was even problems with dudes worthy of being pushed to the sky being kept on hold.
Then with the invasion, Booker T and RVD joined that mix.
With guys like Jericho, Benoit, RVD, Booker T, Angle and others all in need of being pushed to main event level, along with Rock, Austin, Taker and others still being around, Mike Awesome is low on the list of priorities.
Not to mention the singles emergence of Edge and others.
Tazz outranks him on the list of guys who should have gotten that push as well.

I never thought I'd say it, but the time period of late 2000-mid 2002 was a time period of WAY too much talent.
There were practically dozens of main event/eventual main eventers on the roster.

Mike Awesome was a decent talent, but nothing to cry about how misused he was. He wasa big time player in ECW, a joke in WCW and a nifty little sidekick character in WWE. He's wasn't the most talented guy, and there is a LONG list of people who WWE horrifically misused far worse than big Mike.

When Brock comes back to the WWE, he is not going to be jobbing.
And yes he will come back eventually and yes he will be a main eventer.
Man, Paul Heyman really got people thinking Mike Awesome was a top level performer.
Awesome looks like such a goof in that promo. He was good when in the ring with the right guy, but he was never going to be a superstar.
Brock Lesnar was leagues ahead of him.

Paul Heyman could make Zack Gowan's prosthetic leg look like a top level performer.

Thinking back to the Invasion angle was he not the first 'invader' when he won the Hardcore belt meaning first 'invader' and first non-WWF champion of the invasion? You think they could have built better on that although at the same time the Hardcore belt was more a focus for the 'what are we going to do with these guys' in WWF at the time. Maybe Awesome was doomed for nothing special from the start.
I can't help but feel that due to his ECW past (when he jumped to WCW) they could have worked something into the Invasion angle where you never knew which side he was on.
I think Storm followed by Keibler were the 1st ones but Awesome was the first champion.
Hugh Morrus was the second guy, moonsaulting Edge.
I have no clue how the hell I rememberd that.

I agree with Gerard, Awesome was fucking amazing, but like KK said, the best bands, movies etc don't always reach number 1.
And I disagree with the comments about him only being good in ECW style matches. He was amazing in WCW. His match at Spring Stampede 2000 with Kanyon stole the show.

I'd imagine considering it has the same workrate level as most of ECW's 'main eventers'.
His match at Spring Stampede 2000 with Kanyon stole the show.
Holy shit, must have been good to steal Spring Stampede, because it happened at Slamboree.
In any case - when Awesome is in there with a guy he can throw through tables, he was fun to watch. But other than that, he was pretty sloppy, he was bland, and a terrible promo guy. He had a lot of flaws that Heyman got to hide, but came horribly exposed when he went outside that domain.

Your right. Sorry. Gimme a break though, it was seven years ago. :o
lol, plus it was WCW 2000, that whole year totally fades together.
That was a great match though. First time I remember seeing a neckbreaker from the corner like that.
