New song, "What I've Done" plays on splash page. (http://linkinpark.com/)
Very different sound. Chester says there's no Nu-Metal in the album, and Mike Shinoda raps less and sings more.
I like the first single but... :wtf:
"Minutes to Midnight" drops May 15th.

I'm still looking forward to it. Like the new song, however if the new stuff is like the other new song "Qwerty", then I'll definitely like the new cd. It may not be nu-metal, but "Qwerty" is a nice and heavy song.

I've always liked LP; not really my genre of preference, but it's a great change of pace when I'm in the mood for something different. I'll prolly czech it out.

I cannot say anything bad, as LP got me out of the liking of my parents type of music, old rock (which is still good don't get me wrong), and country. It was the first rock band I listened to, and then it went to Metallica and grew from there. So yeah, LP always good IMO.

I know LP got loads of criticism because of the way they formed in the first place, but I loved the other 2 albums (I do not consider the re mixes albums) so I will buy this one, good to see they are trying to change with the times.

Right up there with Hybrid Theory.

About 3/4 through listening to it as I write this, I am impressed. Nothing ground-breaking but it's a nice album, I like it better then their others.
btw, everyone should d/l LP Underground 6.0. For those that don't know, this is a cd for the paying members of the LP Underground. In other words, it's REAL. QWERTY live is fucking awesome. 6 tracks on it.

Alright.
Basically, in terms of sameness, they have a couple songs that do not have heavy power riffs, but sound like the loops from other songs before the usual power chords and such come int.
They have songs that sound like the last CD, sans rap.
They added the word fuck into a song, breaking their tendency to clean music.
They otherwise did what they usually do. Make the same record. The songs are all very similar, structurally, musically.
Alright, Kane Knight, we get it. You don't like Linkin Park. For someone arguing sameness, you sure are saying the same thing with slightly different words.

mixed feelings on this one. Of course, all I heard in the form of clips before it leaked, was Given Up and other harder songs so I was expecting it to be another HT-type album just a slightly bit harder. I like some of the softer tracks but I'm a bit dissapointed after hearing songs like Qwerty and assuming it would be hard. Never assume :(. But, definitely a decent album. It just better not be another 4 years until a new one surfaces.

And by the way, to the little douches who are spreading the phrase "hate" around...Jesus. I must really have hated them to have actually downloaded the record, gave it a shot, and not said it sucked, but simply said it wasn't different.
Are you so sensitive about your taste in music that everything needs to be "original" or "different?" Or so deluded?
I mean, wow. If you complain when I actually criticise the musical structure, how badly would you all piss yourselves if I actually said bad things about the record?

You're the one making excuses for your actions. :y:
It's not that you critisize the music, it's that you bring it up around every corner, and then generalize about the person's taste in music. Don't even fucking deny it. You do exactly that. You go to another thread and see that someone who liked "X" band has an opinion on "Y" band, and make some smartassed comment about it, or some other BS.
And shut up with this stupid "I must really dislike a band to own their CDs or to have downloaded X CD" I own plenty of albums for bands that I no longer like. I've downloaded plenty of music to 'give it a chance', but before I downloaded it that didn't mean I didn't dislike them. I still most likely didn't like them before downloading it, but I gave it a chance and my mind wasn't changed so I deleted it.
Like downloading something was putting forth a lot of effort, as if you drove to the store and went out of your way to get it. You clicked a few buttons and let your downloader do all the work. Yeah, that's quite some effort you put into it there.
This is the quote that brought on my original comment in this thread anyways.
Looooot of Linkin Park fans suddenly getting elitist about the quality of music.
The irony is just KILLING me.
Try to claim otherwise.
Also, your claim that I keep saying the same thing all over the place too. Two threads, both comments used in the same context (because you hadn't responded to this one yet so I brought it up in the other thread).. Hardly near the extent that you do it.
You're not a bad poster when you're just posting, but you get in this mindset when you start arguing over something that everyone else is 100% dead wrong, and you can never be wrong about anything. That's not the signs of being a good debator. That's the signs of being an ignorant fuck who can't accept anything but what's already in your mind. Maybe you should go over and try to rule Iraq. You could be the next Muslim leader if you keep that up.

Haven't read the responses yet. Has Requiem given his usual "It's your fault that I'm too stupid to stop making assumptions based on what's convenient!" argument yet?
Fuck's sake, Req, even animals are able to learn from their own mistake. I'd peg you at as least as smart as a dog, so how many times do you have to have your nose rubbed in shit for saying the same stupid things before you actually learn?
Or do you just have a hard-on for lying?

Oh, so they have gone from lame, generic, and tired to even MORE Lame, Generic, and tired?
They should have crossed over to the Emo thing sooner. Papa Roach beat them to it. :p They'd still suck, but they'd corner the teeny-bopper audience that gotten sick of Nu-Metal bullshit.
Nu-Metal only lasted as long as it did because At The Drive-In broke up before they could follow up Relationship of Command, at the peak of their Critical fame.

And doing it with pride for however the hell long I've been doing it... well, in between the long lapses of me falling off the face of the earth... and allegedly doing my "Powered Toast Man" bit (which I still deny to this day.)
I dislike them, for the most part. I did like one song they did, ever "Lying From You."

Keep in mind, of course, that I hate Linkin Park. ;)
Hate it so much I own their first two records, the first remix and live albums, a DVD, and have some of their demos. I hate them SOOOOOO MUCH because critical thinking is bad and if you don't gush over someone, you automatically hate them.
Oh, I hate them so much, I checked out that website you sent me a couple years ago. The guy who essentially covered.
But yeah, the guy has talent. I just can't stand the band. ;)

Naw. I'm just mocking certain stupid people who fail at critical reasoning. ;)
The unfortunate thing is that this record basically sounds like Linkin Park decided to rip off a Nine Inch Nails record. Superficially it's different, but it's really just the same old Malibu Stacy with a new hat. Which wouldn't be so bad, but I took LP off my MP3 player entirely because there wasn't enough stuff I wanted to listen to.

However, I'm downloading the shit off Demonoid. If you don't have access to Demoind, I can make it available for you.
If you're on Demonoid, you can find all sorts of LP demos. And probably through other palces, but I use Demonoid for all my music needs.
