First player shooter, and strategic war games. I dont' know if it's because nothing can compare to Goldeneye for N64 or if war games are just too complex, but I just have trouble getting into those kind of games again. The same can be said for games like GTA where all you do is run around, beat people up, steal things, do a little mission and move on. I'm playing The Godfather right now and I do enjoy it more than GTA San Andreas, but it's pretty much the same. I also have Fable which I've played a few times and figured it'd take too long to complete so I'd play other stuff then get back into it. It's been 2 years since I did that, and still haven't touched it.
Does anybody feel me here?
Also, what kind of games are you tired of?

I'm more into games like Sim City and Zoo Tycoon or the Civilization Series. The only platform game I play any more is Guitar Hero, and that is rarely.

World War II shooters need to go away.

I'm tempted to go Halo 2 or 3 or whatever they're on, never played the first one (or second?) but I'm terrified it'll be a generic FPS.

Fable is actually a fairly short game. I was a little disappointed at it brevity. You should give it a go, it's actually quite good:y:
The lost chapters is a better game, but that's because it's the sasme game with more in it so....

I hate the sheer number of FP games, Sandbox games, and RTS games. If they didn't eat up so much of the market, I probably wouldn't care. It's easy enough for me to simply not play games that I hate or am tired of, but when half the games are shooter or sandbox (or both) games....

I think the problem is their is just an overload of shitty games in that category. Cause I don't mind the good ones that come out. Also stick, not sure if you played Goldeneye lately, cause it didn't age all that great. Can still be fun to play, but not the perfect game we once thought it was.
I think games I have a problem with are cheap rip-offs of good games that don't offer anything new to the table. All the GTA rip offs come to mind, but other generes too.
I think the Nintendo DS does a great job of oferring some new type of games, instead of the same old crap. I'd say the same with Nintendo, but really all they do is remake the same games like Mario Party, all their sports game, Kart, etc. While the games may still be good, they only pop out a few truly new games here and there.

That's why it's great being an RTS fan, since at any given time there are at least 4 solid franchises with a perfect game out.

While I still have fun playing it and it's "Sequel" Perfect Dark, I'd respectively have to disagree. Especially 4 person multiplayer, the lag at times is very noticeable. I guess I can see how you people would still think it aged well, but for me it really didn't. But it still holds a place in me as my favorite FPS.

Was not a huge fan of perfect dark. multiplayer was fun though.

I was big on some of the weapons on Perfect Dark. But really, when my friends and I did play multiplayer, was all about 007 levels. Wish I had my 64 up here in college now, got like all my other systems.

Keep in mind I hate FPSes, but the last time I got hooked into one, the lag was still horribly noticable on a next gen system. I find it hard to call multiplayer lag a sign it aged poorly.
I mean, there's still a ton of games in multiple genres these days with lag, clipping, and popup. DoR 2 in multiplayer could move as slow as No Mercy...And it was on a better system and the engine moved significantly fast to begin with.

I agree with Papa Georgio on all accounts.
