I've been watching this the past 2 days. I love this show. Anyway, was there a legit non kayfabe reason as to why they removed Savage and Jake from the show. They made a match between the two at the Tuesday in Texas.
But was there a real reason as to why they removed them the match?

to make fans pay for another PPV and spend more money to see a returning Randy Savage and Hogan beat Taker for the title?
Plus it helped set up the Rumble match for the title

yea, it was an experiment to see if fans would buy PPV's on Tuesday. The rating was shit and they nixed future PPV's....that is until they came up with Taboo Tuesday later on.

Savage was never in the match.
Jake was removed for the second show.

On the tape they said it was a 4 on 4 (Savage, LOD, Bossman) vs (Jake, Disasters and IRS). But the week before, Jake had the Cobra bite Savage, thus taking him out Kayfabe.
I was just wondering if there was something else going on behind the scenes or were they just building for the Tuesday PPV?

Then, rhetorically, why in the FUCK would they put out another PPV mere days after one had happened? Yeah, I remember it was discounted or something, but god damn, if you're going to try to sell an extra PPV in a day of 4 per year, why would they do it that quick when a SNME would have done the same job?

Tape is wrong then. I remember this vividly. LOD and Bossman wanted Savage as their partner and everything was leading to it but it was never announced. Everything was building to Tuesday In Texas.

Yeah I have been told before that really SS 91 was used a lot to promote Tuesday in Texas and that they used the Jake/Savage match for that to attract buyrates.

yea, rewatching it today you can fully see that.
The opening match is my favorite.

Sid Justice was the missing partner, not Savage. Savage was still "retired" at this point. Sid went down with a bicep injury, which is why it was changed to a 3-on-3 match, with the kayfabe explanation for Jake's absence presumably being a suspension for the snake attack.
Savage was then reinstated in order to get his revenge at Tuesday In Texas.

hmmm, didn't see your post last time Neander. Was going to type that I was watching a episode of Superstars 91 and they announced the match with Justice as the partner. Later on in that show, Jake and Taker destroyed Sid. I dunno if that was the WWE's kayfabe way of taking him off the show or not.

Which was of course a much bigger success!
Learning from past mistakes is so not WWE is it?
I heard that the snake bite on Savage was legit, too. It'd been de-venomised, obviously, but I remember reading he took the bite like a man - quality.

yea it was and then the snake died right after.

Wow, I feel more sorrow for the snake now than I did for Savage. Poor snake.
On a totally unrelated note, whilst I'm feeling in a Q&A mood - can you tell me, did Yoko/Quake ever really sit on the Bulldog's Dog?

Earthquake. it was jake's snake and it was hamburger meat, not a snake.
