View Full Version : Is anyone buying Judgement Day?

It really does look the pits. It's possibly the most uninspiring line-up I've ever seen... actually, at least since December To Disappoint anyway. Other than the awful Raw main event and the at least somewhat fresh yet barely promoted World title match, every match is a rematch we have seen recently. Michaels vs Orton, MVP vs Benoit, Hardys vs Cade/Murdoch.... we've seen them all at least once in the last few months. Burke vs Punk is about the only fresh match on the undercard.

I mean, I understand that in the modern world of big TV matches every week, we are bound to get re-runs, but so soon? How many opportunities should MVP really get at the US title, from a kayfabe standpoint? Are there NO other challengers, that a guy can continually come up short yet remain number one contender?

For the record, I am actually buying it, but only because watching the PPVs in a crew round my place has become something of a tradition again since the Royal Rumble. If it wasn't for the social side of it, I would not be watching this PPV tonight.

By the way, I'll probably start a Play-By-Play thread later with results for those interested, but it won't be as detailed as my past PBP threads as I'll have company here.

No, its on Sky Box Office here and im glad that it is. Its just basically a repeat of Backlash, the one match that still gets to me is the 3 on 1 match.

Sorry, I just realised I should have spelled "Judgment" the American way, but it just doesn't look right.

Yeah that's what I'll be watching it on. I forgot the Lashley match too, which is another unashamed rehash.

I'm going to a buddy's house and throwing some money on it, but I'm not making the full purchase. Didn't the price go up again?

I'll be ordering it.

Watch it after my exam tomorrow though.

I'm a sucker for them anyway, I order every PPV. No matter what the card is, I always order.

I used to be like that, but then I got selective for a while. I didn't order the December PPV after the ECW one, because the ECW show was so bad (even though I watched it for free), and then I ended up missing the so-called Match Of The Year four way Ladder Match.

If I was on my own, I wouldn't be buying tonight's PPV, that's for sure.

I was going to order the webcast just to get a free DVD from WWE, but I decided against it...

A friend of mine is ordering it.... MIGHT go over there, pending on if I could find a good group in CoV.

If you plan on ordering Judgement Day, please send your money to my house. Trust me, knowing that I bought a few more drinks at the bar tomorrow night will make you feel better than actually watching this event.

I'd just as soon give the One the Money as order the PPV.

I won't be ordering. If it doesn't have London & Kendrick confirmed, I don't order. They're the only guys that really motivate me in today's wrestling scene.

Chris Benoit vs. MVP will likely be good, but it will be up on Daily Motion tomorrow, so why pay for it? If CM Punk vs. Elijah Burke is any good, the same will go for it. The only other matches worth watching sound like Shawn Michaels vs. Randy Orton and The Hardys vs. Lance Cade & Trevor Murdoch. Neither really captures my imagination, though, and I can live without seeing them.

This tri-brand stuff is shit. The main events are weak, and the WWE takes it as an excuse to go at a snail's pace with their storylines. It's disgusting that we are seeing the same watery "ECW" main event twice. The Great Khali does not count as a challenger to the WWE Title, and my prediction is that Edge vs. Batista will be worse than people think it will be. It's kind of funny that Kane is on the poster for the event, yet he isn't even slated to be on the card. SmackDown! has a bunch of matches set-up, yet most of them aren't even on the card.

* Edge vs. Batista
* Chris Benoit vs. MVP in 2/3 Falls
* Kane & The Boogeyman vs. William Regal & Dave Taylor
* Finlay vs. The Miz
* Chavo Guerrero vs. Jimmy Wang Yang
* Matt Hardy vs. Mark Henry
* Deuce & Domino vs. Paul London & Brian Kendrick

There's a Judgment Day card, and it didn't even need to dip into RAW's roster. Would it be as successful as this Judgment Day is going to be? Probably not, but it would be better, just for the mere fact that it has layers, which is critical to a good show. It can't all just be main event.

It was a pretty good show, to be perfectly honest.

IMO MVP vs Benoit got my and where I was at...the WHOLE bar's attention...oohing and aaahing at every spot...some respectable wrestling fans...but since im here in North Carolina...when Flair came on the place went nuts.
