View Full Version : I just realised something about Edge...

He is the most decorated superstar in WWE history.

2-time WWE Champion
1-time World Heavyweight Champion
5-time Intercontinental Champion
1-time WCW United States Champion (the last US Champ at the conclusion of the InVasion)
1-time WWE Tag Team Champion
11-time World Tag Team Champion

Not to mention he's a former King of the Ring winner as well

That's 21 Title reigns, now I know some guys technically out number him; Raven (27), Crash (25) and JBL (22)...but most and in Raven's case all of those reigns were a minute or sometimes less than that of Hardcore Title switches. And unless I miss counted someone, Edge is has won more Championships than any other man in WWE history.

I don't know how far back you'd consider "WWE History", but as you included the WCW U.S Title I'm assuming WCW titles count... in which case I know Booker T has won more.

Wasn't he like a 10-time tag team champ in WCW? Plus his numorous TV title and US title reigns. 6 World titles in total. And then his WWE US, IC and Tag team title reigns... Pretty sure that's well over 22 in total.

Oh, and Booker T is a former King of the Ring too. :D

The difference, WWE was the one who made Edge a WCW US Champ during the InVasion. Booker T won most of those titles during his time with Turner owned WCW.

Okey Dokey.

However, if you were going back as far as WCW Booker T would have beaten Edge... but I guess I needed that clearing up.

Yeah, I'm only talking about WWE History.

You also forgot that Mick Foley gave him the Hardcore title, so technically he's been a hardcore champ to..and still is i guess. Edge always seems to be the kinda guy that gets title reigns, but you never notice them.

He's actually the only person to hold everyone of the current titles (ignoring cruiserweight and womens).

Yeah, this was mentioned in my thread a while back. We decided that he only had the ECW World Title to go. And if he wins the Royal Rumble, he will have won every special achievement, as well.

I always considered Booker T to be the most decorated, but when you think about it, of course most of his reigns occured in WCW.

So yes, Edge is the most decorated, and probably has been for a long time. The World Tag Team and IC Title reigns were probably enough to do it for him.

Actually, and this is just way out there, if you only counted Edge's IC and Tag reigns it equals 17...Triple H has 18 total (10 World, 5 IC, 2 Euro, 1 Tag). So, uh, maybe I keep too close of track to title reigns.

Then again, in order to make that count I am counting Triple H unifying the IC Belt with the World as a new IC title reign. But that's my damn judgment call.

The conclusion: Edge rules. It proves that he has worked his way to the top, not just suddenly appearing as a main eventer like most of todays 'stars'.

I think he's also something like the 3rd longest serving WWE wrestler, behind Undertaker and Shawn Micheals

I think Flair is also up there. 16 time world champion, plus all the tag team, ic, and US runs he has had.

I just count, Flair has be a champion of some kind 43 times, plus Royal Rumble winner.

No, more of a double count out.

I can't understand why a bigger deal isn't made out of it, (well, yes I can because they don't want Edge overshadowing Cena)...but WWE rarely acknowledges Edge's stats and accomplishments. I know JBL did the other day on Smackdown, maybe they're going to start talking about it more, I don't know. But still, I wish they would pay more attention to it and make a bigger deal out of it.

But Ric Flair got back in the ring first.

Triple H, Val Venis, Funaki, JBL, Kane, and if you chose not to count their brief releases/firings; Mark Henry, Jeff & Matt Hardy, and Viscera, along with Taker and Michaels have all been in WWE longer than Edge. There may be more, these were just the ones I could think of off the top of my head.

And BDC, I'm only talking about who WWE made Champ, yes Flair has won 'em all, but WWE only crowned him Champion on 6 occasions (2 WWE, 3 Tag, 1 IC)

Wait, you aren't taking Flair's side?

No. WWE has done next to nothing to contribute to Flair's legacy. In fact, at times they even self sabotaged themselves into a hole to save their babyface Hogan (which then caused him to drop the belt to Bret Hart of all people). Now, in the twilight of his career, WWE is making more money off of him and his legacy (which they have nothing to do with truthfully) than WCW or NWA ever did. Which is fine, they sit a top the mountain, but that does not mean that WWE did right by Flair or by me as a Flair fan until recently...once it was FAR too late. WWE could have been a shinning page of Flair's book, but in my opinion, it was one blown spot and missed oportunity after another.

The Hardys didn't have a full time contract before Edge. Viscera was brought back after Edge debuted on TV. And Edge debuted before Val Venis. Pretty sure Funaki came after Edge too.

Flair pissed on his own legacy with anyone elses help. WWE shouldn't have to contribute to his legacy and infact, it's only because of them he even still has one.

Hardys had been under full time contract as jobbers for a LONG time before Hayes started giving them focus and angles.

Vis as already noted along with the Hardyz and Henry, only make sense if you DON'T count they're firings/rehirings.

Venis debuted in May of 98...Edge in June.

Funaki came in March of 98.

Have a nice day.

 Rob, sometimes, you amaze me with some of the dumb shit you can come out with. Plus you also don't seem to actually read things so much as skim them, but that's another issue. Enjoy your day sunshine.

Oh so he'd have a legacy still without a DVD boxset, a book and HHH putting him over like a million bucks on Raw?

His legacy was so great when he was jobbing to Rico though I guess.

Let's not get into who posts dumb shit now either.

Thats true, but before the Brand Split, Jericho was the first person to hold every WWF title when he won the Undisputed Title in December 2001. He was the first man to have held the WWF title, IC Title, Euro Title, Hardcore Title and Tag titles (Lightheavyweight doesn't count as it is meaningless)

Thurman "Sparky Plug" was left out of the Veteran's list. He debuted at the 94 Rumble I believe.

If the European Championship was brought back (or replaced with another third-tier belt), he'd be a Grand Slam Champion then wouldn't he?
