Also does anyone remember that cartoon that was like set inside a persons body? Like the characters were viruses, blood vessels and all that shit.

Wasn't that a movie with Bill Murray and then they turned it into a weekly cartoon?

Pretty sure that was called Osmosis Jones, not sure what he was talking bout but did remind me of Magic School Bus show.

Ghostbusters 2.

I never really liked the first one until I hit my teens. Then I obviously figured out it was the better of the two.

Also: Pee-Wee's Playhouse and all the Pee-Wee movies. I was and still am a Pee Wee mark. Paul Rubens in general, Mystery Men = :y:...

Plus:

The Real Ghostbusters
Dennis the Menace
TMNT
Roundhouse
Ren and Stimpy
All That (original cast, after that either I grew out of it or it really went to shit)
Keenan and Kel
I'd say the entire Nickelodeon lineup from like 94-98, shit like Pete and Pete, Rocko, etc.

Too many more to name...

Silverhawks
Thundercats
G.I. Joe (I still think some people see war like this.)
Smurfs
The Real Ghostbusters
Transformers and the shitty ripoff (aka Go-Bots)
Voltron. (the Tigers one. The Cars one was only good once, when they teamed up WITH the Tigers one.)

Transformers the Movie (not the new one coming out, the animated one that featured cursing and death.) was awesome. I remember crying when Optimus died. I saw it on my 6th or 7th birthday.

Okay, let's see:

X-Men Animated Series (can't believe nobody's said that yet)
Animaniacs
Pinky and the Brain
Transformers
Scooby Doo, Where Are You?
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles
Toxic Crusaders
Astro Boy
Biker Mice From Mars
Battle Toads
The Simpsons
Inspector Gadget
Count Duckula
Gumby and Friends
Mighty Morphin Power Rangers
Super Friends
He-Man and the Masters of the Universe
Batman: The Animated Series
Captain Planet and the Planeteers
Ducktales
Darkwing Duck
Rocko's Modern Life (pretty much all the Nicktoons)
Kenan & Kel
Smurfs
Thundercats
Banana Man
Bangers and Mash
Super Ted
The Ferals
Round the Twist
Danger Mouse

Yeah. And that's just the TV shows. That I remember. Not much to do in PNG when you're 2-7 years old living in a gated community with an 8pm city-wide curfew and all that's on TV is old cartoons from the '80s because new stuff from abroad didn't come so easily back then (so I was well versed in all the Hanna Barbera favourites too). This may also explain why I lack any athletic ability whatsoever, and also my latent racist tendencies which I don't really deal with anymore.

Yeah I had a pretty comprehensive viewing experience growing up. For the first few years of my childhood I could watch tonnes of cartoons from the 1960s to the 1980s from England and America pretty much and then when we moved back to Australia suddenly and got cable, then I had access to all the Nicktoons and Cartoon Network shows and stuff. Best of both worlds.

I didn't even know there was a Battle Toads show...

Oh yeah, and a few more movies I loved:

I went tip of the iceburg, myself. Good lord, I forgot about a bunch of those.

Tigersharks, wasn't that part of a bunch of shows called "The Comic Strip?" It also featured a series entitled Street Frogs, IIRC.

Also remember a movie that I think was called "The Dark Crystal" or something like that, and Willow.

Darkwing Duck was cool, too. "I am the Terror that FLAP IN THE NIGHT!"

Captain N was cool, even though they confused Bayou Billy with Pitfall that one time.

Speaking of Nintendo, how about "the Wizard", which if I remember right, was about a kid that I think had Autism or something like that, but was the shit in Video Games. Featured the Debut of the Power Glove and Super Mario 3.

it seems like me and my friend are the only ones to remember Silverhawks.

C.O.P.S. was cool. Especially Longarm.

I didn't even know there was a Battle Toads show...

Apparently (read: Wikipedia says) only the pilot made it to air, but I could've sworn that I'd seen at least a few episodes. Apparently only one. Guess I can't really include it in my "favourite shows" ever, but the games were pretty cool albeit ridiculously hard.

Seriously now adays it sucks for kids they have shows like Dora, and gay shit like that. We had some quality shows when we were younger.

I loved Power Rangers, I was in love with the Pink Ranger. But yeah so many good shows.

Silverhawks was good.

It's all anime shit. Yugioh and crap. Pisses me off.

Yea all that crap really pisses me off big time. I guess Pokemon is to blame for that whole craze. I fuckin hate how kids today have YuGiOh when cartoons used to be so good. I feel bad for them.
The only respectable shit they have for kids these days are the staples. Batman, Ninja Turtles, Tom and Jerry and all the basics are still around, and so is Scooby Doo. But they're all reworked versions with new animation and direction and they're inferior to the others.

YEs to both.

I actually used to watch Mad Max, because I'd exercise before school, and it was the only thing good on TV between 6:00 and 7:00 AM.

Dude, we have VOLTRON to blame. and ROBOTECH. And SPEED RACER. They opened the door to shitty japanese shows (I'm not calling them shitty, but COME ON, these were the major origins of Anime in the US). and honestly, unless you're 40 now, there was most certainly some popular and shitty Anime/Japanimation show on TV.

I mean fuck, 80% of the shows on TV when I was growing up (Most of the TV I watched in my youth was between 86 and 89 or so, then I started reading pretty heavily for a few years) were 30 minute advertisements that showed you how to play with an action figure. Which reminds me...Anyone watch MASK? They actually made laws about this shit.

Anyway, what I'm trying to say is tyhat it's easy to mine the good stuff from the bad, but really, the 70s, 80s, and 90s were not really any better than the current stuff. I mean, there's still good kid's shows. Not many can I name, butthen, my interest level's a little lower. But come on...

Not all the kid's content is crap. I mean, I enjoy some of these shows. Fairly Oddparents is fucking twisted. :D And Comcast has it OnDemand....Hmmm

Anyone ever catch Esteban and the Seven Cities of Gold? I don't know the full title, because they changed it every like 2 episodes.

Howabout Bonkers? It wasn't really my youth, per se....

Just commenting, but Pokemon was huge when I was in 5th grade. I loved it. The games, the card game, and the show. I even went to see the first movie. But after the second season of the show and 10 movies and 12 spin-off shows and 150 games it's been watered down to absolute shit.

Jeritron
05-25-2007, 02:56 PM
I'm aware of the older Japanese shows that opened the door, but the Pokemon craze is definitely what brought upon YuGiOh

You know, I don't really recall watching James Bond Jr. often, it was pretty short lived. I may not have even been a big fan. But the toys were awesome and I loved those, so I included it in my list. After all, what were those shows but inspiration and motivation to buy and play with the toys anyways.

Life was so good back then. Being an adult and having responsibilities sucks.
