View Full Version : Maven's return
It's been confirmed that 'Maven' will return to action on RAW on March 9th. Maven underwent knee surgery recently, and it was a complete success.
Maven's departure was also caused by the untimely death of his mother, Sherry Huffman, who died on February 12th after a long battle of cancer.

I think this is a bonus for RAW because since most superstars get pushed to the moon after recovering from an injury, perhaps Maven won't be misused anymore, and get some air time.

If he does come back for that show, he shouldn't appear on TV, he should instead wrestle a dark match, and then start up something after Mania.
If they still plan on using him in the Randy Orton lead "New Evolution" stable, then he needs to start getting a small push. To be fair, they usually do the right think with him, because I think a lot of the people in the company really like him, but he's had a lot of injuries in a short time.
He doesn't need to get any kind of huge push, just a solid but slow move up the card. The way I see it, they need him to take over as the "IC title guy" whenever Orton turns on Hunter. That will probably be nearly a year from now if it does end up happening.
I'm not the biggest Maven fan myself, but I can see why people like him, and see some potential, but I'm not convinced. I dont know who is the right guy for him to fued with, like I said, I dont think there is any point of giving him a huge push. A fued with Orton down the line for the IC title would make sense though. I could see a deal where Maven plays the underdog, and comes reall close to winning, but never actually beats Orton.

Maven needs to be pushed slowly indeed, which is more than what WWE has done for him so far besides the Hardcore title a couple of years back.
I'd like to see him go over some of the lower midcard guys like Val Venis and The Hurricane before he moves onto the midcard. Those kind of wins are crucial, especially if he wants to be an IC title contender.

Hopefully when Maven returns he will finally get the push that he needs. Even though there were working on his push last time, hopefully nothing will come up this time.

I agree 100%
Most people think Maven sucks, but I feel we need to give him time to develop. Brock Lesner is worse than Maven in the actual wrestling department, so is Goldberg. If Maven is pushed right, he can be a major player.

:nono: brock lesnar is a better wrestler. Brock has mat skills which come to his advantage, theres a reason he is a ncaa wrestling champ. Goldberg and brock can not be compared to maven..For one Goldberg and Brock are heavy weights maven is still in a light heavyweight division. Maven is still fairly new and doesnt have the experience or even a gimmick yet.

No doubt, I remember watching Maven win NCAA WRESTLING, again WRESTLING tournaments, while Lesnar was teaching kids in a school. So yeah, obviously Maven is the better wrestler.

I did but maybe because I like him. Lance Storm has been gone for a while too if you didn't notice. Shame too because I'm dying to see him work a WrestleMania. He won't but the APA will. :wtf:

Storm I've missed. Maven is barely touched on TV, and it's a sorta { out of sight, out of mind" deal with him.

You guys know why Maven's been out so often, right? Hardcore Holly's been getting Hardcore with him.

I kinda liked how they had Maven team with Jindrak and Cade, and they had them have matches with Evolution. Sure they lost most of the time, but I think it was an interesting idea to have them work with the Evolution guys. Then, down the road, if Orton uses those guys it would be like they were/are the real future of the comapny.
It might also be a decent idea to have them form a faction but as heels. They could maybe even form a loose alliance with Evolution, and then as they get better that would lead Orton to turn on Evolution, and go with them.

Maven doesn't do anything for me right now, however, that's not to say he won't in the future. He isn't going to be the 'Tough Enough Kid' forever. And it sucks that his mom died, especially after such a dream come true in getting into the WWE for him. At least she died proud. Good luck Maven.

Yeah but remember when Maven totally missed that closeline on Flair and it pretty much ruined what was a good match between Evolution and Jindrak/Cade? I was really impressed with him until that point right there. I know everyone messes up every once in awhile, but when you're in Maven's position, you can't mess up like that.
Maven has been given chances, and while he has been slowly showing improvement, he still needs more time to get better IMO. I think Maven could be good, but he just needs to keep improving.

Yeah I agree, I mean like I said, I'm not his biggest fan. But at the same time, Ive seen the top guys make mistakes, that stuff just happens.
I was thinking that they could use a faction with Maven, Jindrak and Cade and keep them on Heat (or lower ont he card on RAW) for the most part where they could develop some type of character and improve in the ring, with occaisonal shots on RAW. If they were to face Evolution, it would a deal where they come clase, but ultimately lose. Then, down the road they finally get a big win over Evoltuion on RAW and that starts a big push for them.

Personally I think those two need a lot more work than Maven does. Jindrak has some decent charisma on the mic, but needs more ring time, as does Cade. Maven has some good in-ring skills that he just hasn't been able to show yet, and I think that's why he's been put down a lot in terms of his wrestling.
Maven would be great in a stable with Jindrak and Cade once he gets more experience against the established superstars, and more over with the crowd. Luckily it seems as though he's worked his way out of the "Tough Enough Winner" gimmick. The stable could be opposite of Evolution like you said, and feud with one another. Unfortunately the chances of this happening are slim because it'd take a lot of time, and who knows how long Evolution will be around?
I really don't see anything in Maven at all.
He doesn't have any ring psychology and his move set is far too basic, it's just dropkick, suplex, dropkick, clothesline, dropkick. Maybe in time he could be a superstar in the WWE, but as far as I've seen, he doesn't have a whole lot to offer. Not when guys like Paul London and Sean O'Haire are waiting in the wings.

I have a feeling when Maven returns he will be focused. RIP Sheryy, you will be missed.
I hope the WWE use Maven right now, I think having him cost Mick Foley & Rock their supposed tag match at Mania would make him an instant heel. Then have him feud with Rock while gaining heat through mid-card wins. Maven then goe sover Rock and becomes a huge heel. They keep building him up though.

Well, what he said was sarcastic, people on here have joked before about Maven being the best and shit.
So when you said Maven sucks, PR made that comment because people joke around about loving Maven. (he was being sarcastic in other words)
