I say Phil knocks him out. Also these two have been having one of the more interesting wars of words.

Dana said Phil would have a UFC contract for life if he knocked Shamrock's head into the 4th row

What exactly was it that happened with Frank Shamrock and UFC anyway?

He pissed them off when he walked away while still champ

He wanted more money and MMA wasn't hot at the time so he retired. Zuffa took over after he left. He hates Dana for some reason though. UFC has offered him at least 2 contracts since they took over though.

The "New York Badass" would be the shit if he could get rid of all his personal demons..

Quotes from the press conference:

Phil Baroni

“He’s done a lot of talking and, now, I think he’s wrote some checks that I don’t think his ass will be able to cash”

“This ain’t a joke. This ain’t about fighting in my hometown and fighting hand-picked opponents.”

Speaking To Shamrock: “You can laugh and smile with that stupid looking face all you want, but when they shut the fuckin’ cage door, it’s not gonna be a fuckin’ joke. So, keep smiling. Keep smiling. You’re not gonna be smiling when I separate you from consciousness.”

“This is a big opportunity. I’ve been through a lot of ups and downs in my career and my life, but so has everybody. I just don’t cry about it like this guy.”

On being granted a license by the California Athletic Commission after additional medical exams: “People say I should be thankful. What the fuck am I thanking them for? They’re puttin’ me in a fuckin’ cage and telling me to fight……. But, they stepped up this time and they took my back. They did the right thing….I guess I’m not that fuckin’ crazy.”

“I’m gonna fight like a rockstar…..(Speaking To Shamrock) You’re looking kind of scrawny. You should get some Gamma-O, bitch.”

Frank Shamrock

“Phil, what you don’t know is you are the hand-picked opponent and that’s why you’re here. This is my town. This is my arena and this is my sport and welcome to world, baby.”

“You think (this fight) is about you. That’s why you’re underneath the name ‘Shamrock.’ So, welcome to my show. I like your glasses. Your tan is better than me. You’re ripped more than me. You’ve got a better beard and I can’t really grow one. All I wanna see is – if you beat me, God bless you. If you don’t, we just move on from here. This is about fighting. I’ve said all I need to say. You’ve said more than you need to say.”

“All you fighters, fight your heart out. We’re an independent show, making huge waves. We’re gonna change MMA – help make it right. This is about fighting, about art.”

I've always hated Phil "The New York Bad Ass" Baroni, mainly for these two reasons...

1. He talks in the sterotypical New York way and as a person from New York I cringe everytime that idiot opens his mouth. I actually feel ashamed that people all over the world think this is how New Yorkers talk and conduct themselves. He used the word "fuckin'" everytime he speaks. That way I jumped for joy when Pete Sell, not the best example of New York but better then Baroni, choked him out at UFC 51.

But that's just a personal dislike and a personal prefrence now on to 2....

2. Baroni always talks about how he never got a shot at a Middleweight Championship, as if such a thing is owed to him... Sure he's beaten Yuki Kondo, Ryo Chonan, Minowa and Dave Menne all of which are okay fighters. But he's lost to Minowa, Pete Sell, Evan Tanner twice and Matt Lindland twice. Such a record doesn't make you a number one contender or a champion. When he racks up a win against a top 10 middleweight then maybe he could shoot his mouth about titles. But until he does he's just going to have to settle for this title: douchebag.

I've never seen either guy fight. May have seen Shamrock but not Baroni. If they're so good why has the average fan never heard of them?

Average fan has heard of them.

Prediction - Baroni comes out all guns blazing and gassed out within 2 rounds and Shamrock takes over and mullers him.

Rob hit it on the head.

Baroni swings for the fences, forcing a take down from Shamrock, where it turns into an attrition test for Baroni. Shamrock in round 2 by tko/ref stoppage.

Baroni is gonna knock Shamrock out.

Shamrock killed him and fought with a blown out knee. I gave Baroni 2 rounds max before gassing out. He lasted all of 1 minute.

Baroni also had a hernia and a groin injury for the fight. Neither man had any business fighting they said. They both needed surgery. Baroni came off looking better after the fight. He just walked away like a few seconds later.

I'm surprised the fight lasted past those 3 punches that knocked Baroni down early in round 1. Good fight though. How old is shamrock?

Shamrock had a completely torn ACL. He shouldn't have even been walking, nevermind fight. A week before the fight, he was moving everywhere in a wheelchair.

Well then damn. I'd like to see them both go again when healthy.

What I loved is Baroni was talking about how Frank was writing cheques he couldn't cash. What I saw was Frank Shamrock's cheques being cashed and Baroni's bouncing left right and center. He's a warrior, but he's gotta lose the schtick. It's so classless and pathetic.

Rob

Hell no! He is the best worker out there. If this had an All Access pre show, this would have done 1 million buys easy. Shamrock KNOWS how to build a fight.

At least Shamrock comes across as well spoken. Baroni just comes across as kind of an idiot. Don't get me wrong I like bad blood and yeah it's good for business...but there's other ways of doing it. I mean all Baroni does is curse like a sailor.

Rob
06-30-2007, 05:08 PM
And he doesn't even do it so it's funny like Nate Diaz did on the last show.

Oh Baroni is a New York meathead for real..

His nick name is "The New York Badass" for fuck's sake..
