:shifty:

I wish someone would do this with money behind it. It would be the best thing to happen in the world ever.

Oh god, a hollywood hotty as Cheetahra:drool:

Was that legit or was it just a mock up of the opening credits?

I too have been wanting a live action ThunderCats movie.

So let's now work on a cast...

Vin Diesel as Panthro
Jessica Alba as Cheetahra

I've run drey, someone carry on where I left off...

Mr Regal

I think it's some weird foreign mock up from some backward third world country. France or somehwere like that.

Jessica Biel would be a better Cheetahra IMO.

Bit of a tough one to cast actually.

Snarf would be CGI no problem there.

The sad thing is, it'd be great if someone really did a T-Cats movie.

Mr Regal
06-04-2007, 07:38 AM
That was my initial point:roll:

They would have to change it so much to make it work on the screen though, it may lose some of its "charm".

I have always thought about this, discussing with mates how it should be done etc and one of the casting decisions I always kept was Michael Clarke Duncan as Panthro. Perfect. End of.

Mr Regal
06-04-2007, 02:23 PM
Nah he is not limber enough to play a member of the Thundercats. Although Panthro is strong, he is also limber and quick like all cats. Clarke Duncan was better suited to the gorilla role in Planet Of The Apes.

Wesley snipes would be an awesome Panthro.

The guy from The Unit/Allstate commercials should play Panthro. Dennis Haysbert. Or at least voice him.

God, he is awesome.

Stunt Doubles.

I think it would take CGI to make someone his size look agile.

Cood call though RBM.

Can't think of anyone for Liono....maybe Heath Ledger with some bulk....maybe not.

The more you try and think who could play the characters, the more it hurts the head.

Josh Holloway has the look of a good Liono with a bit of workin out. Dunno about the voice or acting though.

You do realise many of the fights in Blade were CG anyway?

So if Snipes in an action movie uses CG to look superhuman, what's the problem with Duncan using CG to look superhuman? Since it's probably gonna go CG for the fights, anyway.

I mean, no way is Tobey Macguire limber enough to be Spider-Man.

Kalyx triaD

I have heard that Tobey in the suit a surprising amount of time, but the L-Cam's still the star of the show.

The Thundercats would need make-up to look all cat-ish so who portrays them doesn't seem as important to me as how the heck they're gonna make such a wacky concept like Thundercats work in Live Action.

Kane Knight

The concep[t isn't the problem. The execution is.

Yes of coure i do. I was less than impressed with them. Would have prefered them to keep it real.

I was thinking more along the lines of his general body shape and movement. I think someone slightly more slender would fit the role better. Not to mention the CGI comment being a flipant one.

YES HE IS:foc:

OMFG!

TPWW has some spooky power my friends...

It's Thundercats, ho! at Warner Bros.

Studio has optioned a script by tyro scribe Paul Sopocy to turn the popular 1980s animated series and toy line into a CGI-animated feature.

Warner-based Paula Weinstein will produce through her Spring Creek Prods. banner, along with Dick Robertson and Lew Korman.

Property revolves around a group of humanoid cats (with feline names like Lion-O, Tygra, Panthro and Cheetara) who must flee their planet of Thundera after it's destroyed. Once crash-landing on another planet, Third Earth, they must thwart Mumm-Ra, an evil sorcerer, bent on killing them off.

Sopocy has written the script as an origin story expanding on the major heroes and villains from the animated series, with the plot focusing on Lion-O coming of age as the leader of the Thundercats.

Project was brought to Warner by Palek Patel, VP at Spring Creek. Dan Lin is overseeing the pic for Warners.

The Thundercats franchise began in 1983 and spawned several animated series, with the most recent airing on Cartoon Network, a toy line produced by LJN and comicbooks published by Marvel and DC imprints. Warner Bros. has owned the rights to the animated series since acquiring Telepictures Corp. in 1989.

Studio's recently been bitten by the nostalgia bug, pacting with Joel Silver to produce a live-action "He-Man" movie, based on the toy and cartoon franchise, as well as a feature based on the DC comicbook "Teen Titans," a junior Justice League.

Weinstein most recently produced Warners' "Blood Diamond," and with HBO Films is prepping "Recount," based on the 2000 presidential election, with Sydney Pollack set to direct.
"Thundercats" is Sopocy's first studio script sale as a screenwriter. He's currently senior writer, print advertising, at Fox Broadcasting Co., and has previously penned short films including "Staring at the Sun," which was screened at the Sundance film fest in 2005

The turtles CGI turned out good. I have faith in this as long as they try to appeal to the original fans.

Im sorry, but I watched this as a kid religiously and ever since I started film studies for the first time and started my own scripts - this is the first and one film I went over and over in my head on how I would do it, how it would look best etc and I'm sorry but CGI, for this film in my opinion would be a mistake.

Although it would help in part.

I always imagined a massive, large-scale platform for a Thundercats film. Visually something like LOTR. A third Earth filmed in NZ, with is forests, rivers, mountains - it would be perfect.

Plus a live-action to me makes the film more serious. Which I think this film needs, the abandonment of a home-world, the young leader finding out who he is and his destiny.... I dunno a CGI film to me of TC doesn't sound too promising.

I dunno.

And I have not seen TMNT yet. From what I heard, which wasn't much, good or bad, its not going to be remembered much or cared for.

What do you expect from the mind of a child in the body of a full blown man in a position of power?

Other than a war in Iraq.
