Anyone watched it??

It's a new MMA promotion on the VS. channel.. Watching the first one I've caught right now.. Saw Liddell in one of the fighters corner but only caught the end of that fight..

Looking pretty good..

HAHAHAHA

They are hella biting UFC.. There's a new reality series coming on after this card called "TapouT" where they are looking for the next MMA superstar.. Mad ripping off The Ultimate Fighter..

I'm gonna watch it..

The Naitch

The Naitch

Kris P Lettus

I dunno..

This is a Hard Rock Casino Las Vegas, so they are using the same venue.. Herb Dean was one of the refs and I saw Liddell.. Also they showed a commercial for UFC 71 but I dunno..

Bodog is pretty good.. This seems entertaining..

I like watching the smaller fed cause you'll see guys either on their way to or out of the UFC.. Every good fighter in the US is not already in the UFC..

It's only difference is that it has lighter divisions than UFC. Jens Pulver is join WEC after he fights Penn. Pretty fucking good if you ask me.

Kris P Lettus

Yeah, it's pretty decent from what I saw..

That TapouT show on the other hand is complete shit..

I wasn't able to watch it last night, but I caught a couple minutes of it. Octagon, linked fence, same refs. Obviously it's a UFC affiliate, not sure what it's supposed to be. Maybe like the minor leagues?

Kris P Lettus
06-11-2007, 01:40 AM
King of the Cage had all those same things in common but had nothing to do with UFC from what I've heard..

:dunno:

Ol Dirty Dastard
06-12-2007, 03:19 PM
nah WEC is definitely UFC owned

Urijah Faber is dirty. Sweet fight with Chance Farrar

Kris P Lettus
06-12-2007, 03:33 PM
Yeah Faber is the best fighter they have..

He's on like every WEC card I've ever seen..

lol

UFC owns a handful of other promotions, WEC is one of them. KOTC isn't. I'm suprised Faber hasn't tried to step up to the 155lb division in UFC. I think he could handle it.

I thought I heard UFC owned the idea of MMA inside a cage? The more I think about that I don't even know if thats possible "to own" but I dunno, thought somebody mentoined it before

They probably own the rights to an Octagonal cage but probably not the cage itself.

Yeah Pulver's joining the WEC, he's dropping down to 145 lbs. I've yet to hear anyone completely confirm this is a UFC owned company but I'm, 99% sure of it at this point.

BTW, what did you guys think of the Pulver/Penn fight?

Rob
06-24-2007, 09:25 PM
Penn dominated him. Nothing much else to say. Shame he is going up to 170lbs now.

What makes it Extreme? Is there barbed wire?

Jordan

So Jens is going to WEC, good for him, BJ made him look bad.

Jordan
06-25-2007, 05:24 PM
WEC was orginally NOT owned by UFC, but UFC bought them out when the bought Pride but nobody cared because they had just bought Pride.

Kris P Lettus
06-25-2007, 06:25 PM
Are you sure they "own" it??

They had the owner of WEC on the show the other night and he mentioned UFC but didn't make it out like they were the same thing.. He even said it's hard for them to compete with UFC that's why they go after the smaller weight fighters, so they have something alittle different from UFC..

:dunno:

Rob
06-26-2007, 02:06 PM
Zuffa owns UFC, Pride and WEC.

Mercury Bullet
06-27-2007, 07:58 PM
They're trying to treat WEC like its "different", it's really not, they just want it to get the ratings. The only thing it has going for it is a heavier weight class and a lighter weight class. If they could get some fighters in their "unique" (or more unique anyway) weight classes bigger media attention I think WEC could become a bigger deal.

A Pulver/Faber fight would be big for the company.

Jordan

^^^^ I know I can't wait for that.

UFC/Pride/WEC = RAW/Smackdown!/ECW

Jordan
07-01-2007, 06:44 PM
LOL kinda, I am really impressed with WEC though, much better than ECW is to WWE.
