Game: Same movie, different director

Pick a relatively well known movie that may or may not have been directed by a particularly well known director. THen, pick a different director for that movie. IE: Star Wars directed by Tim Burton.

THe next person to post then gives their opinion on whether they think the movie would have been better or worse. While making your opinion, assume that the movie's story is the same, and only the director's signature "feel" is changed. As in the example above, the story would still be about Luke learning about Jedi and saving the Rebels from the Death Star and such, but the movie would have a very dark, stylized tone to it.

After you post your opinion, then post another movie and director. I will begin.

Well, it wouldn't have been as good. Without Spielberg on the E.T project you lose a lot of what made E.T work. The focus on the children, the focus on the troubled family, the role of E.T as the missing member of the family, the hiding of adults faces early on in the movie to create a children's world. And you'd of course lose that charm and magic that E.T has. E.T has a lot of heart to it, that's what makes it great, and that's all thanks to Spielberg. Plus Spielbergs style and strengths are more geared towards a children's story about an alien housguest being chased by the government. That suburban single mother family feel is Spielberg all over. Plus Spielberg's images are iconic in E.T.


King Kong directed by Steven Spielberg

Could work. Spielberg has done work with this genre before, and done it well. He might have even added a few layers to it that Peter Jackson didn't just by taking the project slightly less seriously. Jackson wanted something that would rank up there with the Lord of the RIngs trilogy and I could see if it wasn't meant to be such a tear jerker it might have been better.

The Special Effects would of been more amazing. And perhaps we would of gotten a few more movies out of the franchise....but he also might of replaced Doc with Jar Jar

Not so sure...all the Uruk hai would be London Gangsters. However, they would speak in Cockney rhyming slang so we still wouldn't be able to understand them.

And how would you fit Vinnie Jones into the Trilogy? I could maybe imagine him as Sam.

Hmm! That's an interesting one. To be honest i think they would have handled the last film better than Rami. Venom definitely would have had more of a say. But I'm not sure Keanu would make a good Peter Parker:shifty:

You know fuck it, I think they would have done a better job. They LOVE comic books and would have bust their colletive nuts to make it awesome. Fans boy's wouldn't be disappointed because they themselves are fan boys.

Sam Raimis a huge Spiderman mark. The Wachowski Brothers suck. I don't care how much they make comics, they would have made the movie be all slow mo with techno music and S&M references and sexual stuff to suit their needs. One of them is a transexual. Their too fucked up to be doing something like Spider-Man. They'd be better suited doing Blade or just dropping off the face of the map. The fact that they're known sort of angers me. They suck.
