View Full Version : Where do you go with the Kane - Undertaker match at WrestleMania?

During Raw, someone brought up a question that I thought I had My answer to; "Who should win between Taker and Kane?" Now before last night, I would have said Kane, no question ... but now I'm not so sure.
Now hear me out, I know Kane needs this to go over, but I also think in terms of long term goals, Taker needs to be put over strongly as well. Let me run down a few scenarios (wow, I'm feeling sort of Heyman-esque)
Kane Wins
So Kane goes over the Undertaker and as result looks like the shit. What good does that really do right now though? You've got Benoit set to win the title, with Triple H and HBK chopping at the bit. That doesn't leave much room for Kane in the world title/main event picture. So you end up having a Taker's legacy ruined, for Kane to end up lost in the shuffle. At the same time, Taker loses a little bit of his ability to put others over. Guys like Cena could use the rub from the Undertaker, and if the "dead man" gets beat the night of his return, he doesn't look very credible.
Scenario 2: Undertaker wins
Kane's push goes to the shit hole, and all this build up for the feud turns into nothing but a forum to re-debut Undertaker's gimmick. Taker again has the power to give stars the rub, but Kane's character is pretty much killed off ... again ... and he can't afford that ... again.
So, what do I think should happen?
My Idea: time limit draw.
Both men need to brawl all out, kick out of tombstones, chokeslams, chair shots, EVERYTHING in two counts or less. The match itself has the crowd hot due to the back and forth nature and allows for several things. Kane's character, while he didn't win, still looks great ... just not world title great... YET. Taker has a successful return and can go on what the net fans will know is a farewell tour, giving guys like Cena, and Eddie the rub, only to have at the end of each feud (which just so happens to be a joint PPV) to get screwed by Kane, and visa-versa. This keeps a semblance of heat going between the two, allows them both to look good, and Kane to ultimately look godly at next years Mania, by Ending Taker's streak, and being the man to take him out and then go on to win the World title.
Thoughts? Opinions?

I have it on good authority that this will be a buried alive match in which there will be a draw when both wrestlers manage to slap their opponents into a hole and bury them...
This will go down in history as the biggest slap in the face to wrestling fans of all time.

...Then the HHH title match will occur, blowing all previous records out of the water.

It's a very difficult match to book, the easiest answer is a cop out.
At wrestlemaina Kane will be standing in the ring when the lights go out and the bells begin to toll. The druids come out carring a casket and place it in the ring. The bell rings and the casket opens and Spike Dudley jumps out and attacks Kane. Kane gives him a chokeslam and pins him in 30 seconds.

You can also have Pete Rose pop out of the casket and attack Kane.

I think that some possible good matches that they should have would be buried alive match, casket match (havnt been one of these in a while) or Hell in a Cell. That would be great. I was thinking on Monday Night that when he comes back he might fight Kane in a buried alive match and I guess like kane knight said, it will happen

I personally wouldn't mind Taker and Kane ending up as a team after the whole thing. Perhaps put some greater threat to them both into the picture. Force them to work together. However, while they still hate each other. I think it would be entertaining for them to show discipline and act as a team, and even as brothers, while they both know they hate each other. And have the final match between the two when 'Taker is ready to retire. Have Kane go over, make it totally dramatic and have them bury the bad blood between them on Taker's way out. This way Taker going out doesn't look like he was crushed, or outright beaten down, you put Kane over and you have a fresh Kane face. And it would not be hard to turn him heel. He is Kane.
This would also set up for some mean Taker cameo appearances down the line.

I dont think its difficult to book at all, plain and simple; Taker wins clean.
There is no point of keeping Taker off TV for 4 months, give him all this build up, throw him in a gimmick he doesn't want to do anymore just to have him do a JOB.
Taker will win, and perhaps Kane will move to SD (I haven't heard anyhting about this, but I could see it) and he continues a fued with Taker. At the same time, I could just see Taker winning, Kane stays on RAW and does something else. Maybe this leads to Kane throwing the mask back on or something.
The thing about Kane is that he was already killed as a viable character when he started the fued with Shane. Watching him have to sell for Shane killed any mystique that Kane was/is a killer. So Kane losing to Taker wont really hurt him.
Everyone talks about Taker putting people over, I honestly dont see that happening. I have a feeling the fans will be really into the old gimmick (for a while at least) and that will ensure that Taker isn't doing any JOBs for quite some time. I see them feeding him some of the big guys on SD, and staying in a semi main event role.

Something tells me we're heading for Hell in the Cell at Mania. I agree with CyNick here. Taker has to go over, I don't see any other way out. I don't know about him actually WINNING, though, Kane hasn't been pinned since he took his mask off.

Really, are you sure? I didn't even know that. Which shows how well they play that up on TV.
Still, I dont think anyone takes him as this serious threat, he's just a big dude who yells a lot. I dont want to see HIAC at Mania, match would be bad, and it doesn't need that stip. If they want to do that match, save it for a brand exclusive PPV that could use the stip to gain buys.

In my opinion, Taker should win at Mania'. However - the angle should continue after Wrestlemania. Kane gets a measure of revenge by meeting up with Sarah (a.k.a. Taker's wife/husband?) and tombstoning her/him? Kane then lights Sarah on fire. This slightly irritates the Undertaker, and this leads to a match at the next PPV.........where Kane goes over cleanly.
At Wrestlemania - it should also be made to look like Taker's win over Kane was kind of flukey (so it doesn't make Kane look like a pussy).

Undertaker will win, it is a big waste if he doesn't. I feel sorry for Kane that it has to be him again. I agree with the person that Kane's push was destroyed by Shane O'Mac. All i remember from that feud was wow that big monster looks like a little bitch getting beat up by a mommas boy like that. I feel real bad for Kane, he deserves more.
