View Full Version : Without Bob Barker, should TPiR go on?

DAMN iNATOR

If a replacement host was found for Bob Barker on TPiR, would you even bother to tune in? How good/great would his replacement have to be for you to even consider watching? I'm considering not watching if they don't cancel it sometime between now and Sept., TBH

They have tried out new hosts when Bob gets sick or takes a break and it just isn't the same. It shouldn't continue, but it will until it falls flat on its face.

It would depend on who they select. I mean if the rumors are true and Rosie O'Donnell becomes host, then HELL NO I wouldn't watch. I guess we will have to wait and see first.

I heard way back John O'Hurley was a possibility. If Rosie O'Donnell gets it, just send it over to GSN.

Todd Newton was a rumored possibility. That would be good, he does a good job (did on Whammy).

*WARNING: GAME SHOW NUT ENTERING THREAD*

Mario Lopez turned it down.

Chuck Woolery's very comfortable doing Lingo. (Read: fondling Shandi Finnessey every day)

Dave Price (the weatherman on the Early Show) was supposedly the heir apparent, but his audition sucked so bad that it left the network scrambling.

At one point, they had announced a top three: Todd Newton, George Hamilton, and Mark Steines (Entertainment Tonight guy), but now they're doing more auditions, including John O'Hurley.

If it were up to me, I'd have it down to two by now: Newton and Marc Summers. Marc's been hosting a live stage version of TPiR at a Harrah's casino, I think in Atlantic City, and supposedly is doing a hell of a job.

In answer to DAMNiNATOR's question, yeah, keep it going, as long as they don't choose an incompetent as hell host.

I mean suppose a contestant plays Plinko and they land the plinko chip in the "0" slot, Chuck gives you a roundhouse kick for your poorly played Plinko skills.

Or how about during the Big Wheel and your spind puts you over $1.00, Chuck gives you a going away prize, a left fist to your face.

I mean, yeah, Drew kinda sorta new his shit, but he'd fuck up with some of the game descriptions and he didn't even know how to do the cues for the announcer that well...I have a feeling this could very well be TPiR's death bell tolling in the not too far off future...

I actually enjoyed Drew. Yeah, he slipped up at times, but it was his first show, and he didn't slip up often. His pace was much quicker than Barker (with all due respect to him), and his humor was well planned and he didn't really overshadow any of the contestants by being overbearing, making the contestants more comfortable (I loved that he cracked on the sound effects guide, making the contestant say "oh great sound effects guide"). The set was alot better than it has been lately.

Know some of you guys won't agree with me, but I like the freshness of this modified TPIR.

The vid's been taken down but I do recall that moment quite vividly. Another moment is on one of the "Million Dollar Spectacular"s, where something pissed Bob off (I think a contestant was taking too long to make a bid for his/her showcase or something), and he actually reportedly sat on the stage steps until the bid had been made. I seem to recall him being quite bitter about that. *SIGH* MAYBE, just maybe TPiR can struggle through this season but I don't know how much more it's got left in the tank without Bob or without Rod Roddy. Ever since that man's passing, yes, Rich...whatever his name is has done a OK job announcing, but whenever I hear him it makes my ears bleed. If it gets picked up for Season 37, or even makes it through this season without being cancelled, I for one, will be amazed.

I caught an episode with Drew a couple days ago. It's gonna be rough but If I watch it long enough I can probably deal with it. The who set really hurts my eyes. I don't know what they were thinking with the bring colors and the showcase podiums. But this could work. Then again, it might not.
