I used to read Match when I was about 12.
Totti was too low down but Henry isn't the worlds best player.

Stop making an arse of yourself in football threads 3 of the 4 players you named are easily in the top 50 with Seedorf being the only debateable one. Kahns one of the best keepers of his generation. Campbells an outstanding player and one of the main reasons the Arse are flying high this year.

The Comet Kid
02-26-2004, 10:08 PM
Dida is brazils and Milans keeper, he was in the shoot out in the Champions League final last year. Kaka is also brazilian and in Milans team, meant to be shit hot, kept Rivaldo out of the team last year.

The list isnt great, some of the choices are insane and its obviously voted on by people who watch only the premiership and champions league, how else would Okacha or Rooney get so high?

Duff owns Nedved though  Chelsea can spend another 100m in the summer but Duff will still be their best player

WTF are you on? Campbell is utter crap! He was shit at Spurs and he's worse now, the reason arsenal are flying high is not because of Campbell, I could list loads of players in the Arsenal squad who could fall in that category but Campbell aint one of them.

Kahn may be one of the best in his generation, but this is the now mate, and right now, he sucks big time!

And Harry Kewell?, if you think he deserves to be in the list, i'm afraid it is YOU is making an arse of himself!

And he made a mistake from Carlos' free kick, but that doesn't mean that he is past it.

Kahn probably shouldn't be as high as Totti, among others, but he should still be in it.

Unless he makes another bg mistake in the next game,in which case you could argue that Ian Walker should be in.:shifty:

Totti, Nedved and Maldini so should all be so much higher. WTF is Roberto Carlos doing at NO. 2.
Rooney and Buffon shouldn't even be in there.
And while we're at it Pires should be in the top 15 at least.

Cactus Sid

Maldini :wtf: The guy's a good defender, but he's not half the player he was.

Buffon is a very solid keeper, not as good as Kahn, but still has a lot of quality, very competent from crosses and takes the ball really crisply, there aren't many keepers who have as good handling as he does.

Also, Pires is a great player, but I think that there are at least 15 players in the world better than him

Cactus Sid

You know, your custom title should be updated, because I think you've passed the training bit.

Campbell has improved hugely since Tottenham, I'm not gonna say he deserves to be in the top 50 footballers in the world, but I'm guessing this is based on ability per position, and Campbell has great ability. He is one of the best tacklers I have ever seen, he has pace, he's big, he can head, he has every attribute you could ask for in a defender. The only thing I could ever say against him, is that his positioning can be a bit wayward, but he has really tightened up the last 2 seasons, and he would always be my number 1 pick for England's defence. Hell, Arsenal's defence is hardly full of superstars, and yet they concede less than anyone else in the league, Campbell is the number 1 reason for this.

As has been said, Kahn's generation is now. Kahn only broke out from Bodo Illgner in around 97/98 to become Germany's number 1, but ever since he's gone that extra yard, he has proved what a quality keeper he is. Look at the world cup, watch a Bayern Munich game, watch the German national side, the guy has the safest hands in the business, ok, he made a mistake the other day, big whoop, every keeper makes a mistake once in a while, Kahn made his Wednesday, I bet this weekend he pulls off 5 fine saves at least. If you think Kahn sucks, you have absolutely no idea what your talking about.

Harry Kewell is a good player. If he wasn't thrusted into the sh</>it that is the Liverpool side right now he'd be a much better player. You just have to watch him when he's on the ball, he has got to be in the top 3 in the premiership for a player with the ball at his feet and then doing something with it. See his goal on Thursday? That's quality. I'm sure that once the Liverpool side gets its act together, you'll see the best of Kewell. You are suggesting that because of one average season Kewell shouldn't be on a list, when he has had 6 or 7 years of top quality performances for Leeds, week in week out, the guy who tore England apart at Upton Park, and at the start of this season was Liverpool's best creative threat. Harry Kewell shouldn't be in the top 20, or maybe top 30, but he should be on there.

Razor Rybek
02-28-2004, 10:17 AM
Say what you want about Kahn, you opinions differ to mine and thats fair enough but Kewell?, Come on! He is an average player at best, he has skill yes but he is not one of the worlds top 50, I refuse to withdraw that. I have seen nothing from Kewell to suggest he is any better than average. He has great games now and again, but so does Nicky Butt and he aint in the list, so does Laurent Robert but again he aint in the list.

As I said, Kahn, fair enough, although each time i've seen a Bayern game, which isnt often but i've seen a few, he has not been very good at all.

If you see,i neglected to mention mr Campbell in my last post, that is because my calling him shit was not based on fact, twas based on my personal dislike for the fella,so if any Campbell fans have been offended during this whole, someone called Campbell shit ordeal, then i guess i'm sorry.

But i stand by the damn Kewell statement
