View Full Version : Robert Roode reminds me of a young...

Tully Blanchard.

Seriously, I'm really taking a liking to Roode. He's got the look, he's got the talent, he's got a good second.

I could see him being TNA Champion in the next few years. Well that's assuming he doesn't bolt to WWE before then and even then he could be a strong United States Champion on Smackdown.

Robert Roode is going places, if he ever gets the fuck out of TNA.

I've been liking Roode. One of the few guys TNA has been handling decently.

Roode should ditch Ms. Brookes and join the Christian Coalition.

For a guy never to hold any title or even be considered a mid carder in the number 2 promotion in the USA, which is much smaller than the Number 2 that Tully Main Evented, that is saying a bit much.

I don't like him. I don't like most of the guys in TNA as they seem bland and from the early 90's WCW. I do think that he should separate from Ms. Brooks and this Eric Young thing.

I think he's okay, I had a list a little while back of 'TNA' born 'stars' that TNA needed to better utilize in the upper card and main event. He was on it. Not at the top but I think a had him at 5 or so.

Robert Roode and James Storm are the 2 biggest potential stars in TNA.

I am a big big fan of Mr. Roode. I think he has a very bright future laced with possible titles runs but more importantly a solid career with a strong fan (or anti-fan) base. In fact when Team Canada broke apart I thought he was the one who would benefit the most, turns out it was kinda Eric Young, but that is neither here nor there, the point I am trying to make is that comparing him to Tully is laughable in my mind. Tully Blanchard was one of the best men to ever lace up a pair of boots, could move in the ring better better than anyone else ever had up to that point in time, and was by all means a perfect heel through the 80's. Probably wrestling's single most underrated star of all time, and had Flair not have been there in the 80's, being the God he was and all, I think Tully could have easily done a very good job in his place. One of my biggest grievances is that I never got to see him win a World Title, something that as a fan eats at me pretty hard. But regardless, Tully is at least half god, where as Roode is a really awesome mortal. Don't get me wrong, Roode is aces, but he's no young Tully.

I prefer James Storm to Roode. I think Storm is TNA's best shot at having a home grown globally-known star.

James Storm is a guy who could be either face or heel and keep his character almost the same. He has charisma, ability, and cool music. I never understood the obsession TNA has with Chris Harris. He is bad at interviews, doesn't have much charisma. He is somewhat talented, but James Storm was the better half of AMW.

I think James Storm sucks.

...just throwing that out there...

I don't see anything special about James Storm nor Harris, and I never really thought that were that great of a tag team, sure they were the best in TNA, but come on it's TNA.

James Storm has uber-heel charisma on the mic and in the ring. He could work both ways, but I think he is phenomenal as a heel.

I like Roode and Storm as heels, they can develop to be major players in TNA in the main event scene. WWE might even take a look at them and sign them one day.

But that's the thing, he's young and he still has a LOT of time to improve even more. And with enough seasoning he has the ability to be a Tully Blanchard type performer. I'm not saying he will, but I do see a lot of Tully in Roode.

I think that in itself is high praise.

Bobby Roode is good

but

Tully Blanchard is God

I can see where you made the mistake... it's only once letter of diffrence.

Geesh why do you think I'm saying Roode is an equal to Blanchard???

Blanchard is like one of my all time favorites.

I simply said that I see similarities between the two.

It's not a hard concept to grasp.

Roode would be better suited being in the Smackdown midcard, wrestling Matt Hardy and Finlay. Seems he has the style that WWE likes.

I see what your saying. He does kind of have the similarities.

Geesh why do you think I'm saying Roode is an equal to Blanchard???

Because generally people around here are incredibly linear folks who don't do much thinking. When they see two names equated in some way, they expect an exact correlation.

Honestly, I don't see as much in Roode, he comes off as lacking that special spark that makes someone a star instead of just another guy, which is one of the things that really made Tully stand out. Not to say Roode will never get there, but I don't see what there is to be excited about just yet with him.

Once again, when somebody calls you out on that fact you are a complete asshole...you just write it off as being a spazz, stupid, ignorant, dumb noob, or some other cop-out when you can't just post 2000 word "debates" until they back down.
