The tapings tonight will be regular programming and won't be a tribute to Benoit and they won't be doing the Vince angle.

Best call given the shady circumstances.
I wouldn't expect too much storyline development, maybe just a bunch of straight up matches

With what is unfolding, that's probably the best way to go at this point.

The only thing is that with a situation where one of their main stars have died within the last 24 hours, how they go about NOT mentioning anything.

Same as any other week then. :shifty:

Seems like the right call. The best call is to run a memoriam image and have the commentators give a shoot update on whats happening and stress that it's a serious matter.
I think it'd be best to do straight up matches and little or no storyline development. Of course the McMahon angle has been scrapped, but I think it'd be best for him to stay off tv right now. Not because of the old storyline, or because I think it'd be wrong, but because given the unsure circumstances it'd be best for them to just stay vague right now.
Given what they know now, it'd be wrong to dedicate or pay memorial. I'm sorry, but it just isn't called for. Monday night they didn't know yet and it was sudden. Vince and WWE did the right thing Monday. This is a new day and I think they should back off and just have matches.
They can be whatever the wrestlers want them to be.
I just have a feeling you're not going to see a lot of sky-pointing or CB armbands tomorrow or friday night. And to be completely honest, I don't think there should be.
I think the key thing to do would be to level with the fans and run a memorial image for the ENTIRE FAMILY

With it looking like Murder-Suicide, it's still probably the best.

The ECW show page is being listed as a Retrospective on the career of Chris Benoit right now, so who knows on that one.

Glad not to have to see that fucking limousine explode every half hour on WWE programming now...
This is a dark week for wrestling, I can only imagine the backstage vibe.

I gotta agree with everyone else. News of confirmation of the double murder suicide reached my local radio station in LA (KFWB AM 980). My heart sank when I heard it.
Anyway, it's a really tricky situation the WWE has to handle. They would probably still honor the memory of Benoit's wrestling career, but they can't really eulogize him, since he's apparently... a murderer.
So being squarely factual and all-business sounds like the best way to go.
But yeah, I wouldn't want to be backstage at all right now. It's gotta be hell finding out a guy everyone's looked up to for years did what he did.

I'd say that's the best thing to do. Run a regular show, but I'd say put more emphasis on the wrestling tonight and Friday.
With WWE.com seemingly erasing Benoit, I hope that they don't bar wrestlers from pointing to the sky, wearing CB armbands, Benoit shirts, or anything like that if they want to. Even if he was a murderer, they still should at least be able to honor Benoit's wrestling legacy and all he meant to them. If Malenko wants to come out of retirement for a Benoit Tribute match against Chavo or something, I'd say let it happen.
As for the McMahon thing, it is best that it gets scrapped. Running a murder angle is the worst possible thing to do. However, I will say that I hope they leak who the murderer was meant to be, because that angle intrigued me.

Well according to the reports the original ending to last night's show was suppose to be Linda McMahon being arrested for Vince's murder only to be discovered that she didn't do it.

Who lifted the briefcase?
Who drove the hummer?
Who still remembers what?
Who killed Vince McMahon?
The list goes on...

As far as kayfabe goes, next monday, Vince should come out and say he faked his own death to get out of the wrestling business. However, the death of Chris Benoit and his family has changed his mind. Or something to that effect...

I pray and hope that they scrap this whole Vince limo storyline...
This is honestly one storyline that I dont mind wondering what happened? Sure down the road it will be brought up like DT has said with others like "Who Lifted the Breifcase?" and "I still remember...." but honestly when its thought up we will all know that Vince has taken the high road in deciding to end his angle...
Hopefully he ends it so we can get back to wrestling cause thats all I really want to do right now...get back to what makes the sport right.

To be completely honest...I think Vince should come out and just be honest with the people. Say that due to recent events he has decided to discontinue that storyline and he is sorry to the fans.
I think Vince would actually be applauded for such a thing and receive more respect.

Well he has a creative team, just how creative they are is really gonna show now, especially how loved Benoit was backstage and the effect that the circumstances is having on them.
I wouldn't be surprised if it was minor storylines for now. Like no Bats getting the title shot so just expect Edge to do a few interviews here and there and getting random people take him on for the title.
Having said that, who else is considered main event status on SD to go for Edge? It can't be Finlay, he's no where right now. It can't be Flair cos he lost recently to a US Champion, MVP surely they won't push yet, Bats is banned (yeah right, he'll get another shot soon. Trust!) and that leaves one person....
Khali. lol.
Still think he would have been best as a Tag Team with Umaga.
Hell, maybe Matt Hardy will get a jolt. Heck, u don't know. In the perfect world. Edge would beat these stated above then make an open challenge for Great American Bash... then... #Break The Wall down# hits. *MARK!*

I think that he should give it a week or two to let this set in, and then maybe put an abrupt end to it. Give us the storyline finale, but in a condensed quick fashion. They should be used to that anyway.

Bah. Mr. McMahon is still dead. I'm pretty sure.
Vince came out as Vince McMahon, real person and businessman who just found out about the death of an employee and frend, and addressed what happened with his character, and what happened with his employee.
