View Full Version : So how would you start Monday Night Raw next week?

After what happened to Benoit how would you kick off Monday Night Raw next week.

Have Jim Ross or The King say alittle about what happened to Benoit, and after all is said and done have the other one put their hand up to their ear and say
"We are reciving word that.... WHAT? IS THERE A CAMERA IN THE LOCKER ROOM!??!?!?!"
Rumors are that Linda was going to get arrested by the "feds" for Vince's "death", so cut the camera to Shane and Steph SCREAMING at Linda while the police are taking her away. A little bit of shock value for the people who don't read the dirt sheets.
The rumors also said that it was going to be a mistake by the feds. but that could happen next week.

All in all I'd like to see the show go on as if nothing happened.

Yeah, screw Benoit, I wanna see a normal Raw next week. That Linda idea isn't bad at all.

I really don't think they can continue the limo angle at all because people who don't follow WWE but turn in next week are going to assume that they're doing it because of Benoit. I'd like them to, but I don't think they will.

I'd like them to just drop everything Russo_style and reset the promotion. It's the best possible time to do it and start fresh.

I'd like it to go on as nothing happened BAR the murder angle and I reckon that's what they'll do.

No, nothing should be done Russo style, not even if it's in the Kama Sutra.

Whats Russo style sex? Lead all the way up to the finish then swerve her and just leave?

Sadly....I think they should open it like any other Raw....forget the whole McMahon angle and just have Cena come to the ring and talk about how he defeated his opponents...then someone comes down and they set up the main event for the night.

Then just go about the night like any other night with the show trying to push feuds instead of anything with murder and anything like that.

I'd start with a clean slate. A PPV just went by, they were always something a the 6th Comic Issue to me. Here's a chance to move on and bury that death angle, or atleast end it in a way that adds heat to McMahon's character.

FourFifty
06-26-2007, 07:33 PM
Why end it?
Seriously- let the show go on. The WWE has never said McMahon was dead. They never said he was murdered. They never said he was killed. They've tap danced around words like that, so let the show go on.
I'm also sure every wrestling fan knows that Vince McMahon and Mr. McMahon aren't the same person. Vince is real, Mr. McMahon is just a persona.

At this point, the damage of the storyline's been done. On top of that, now that Benoit's a serial killer instead of a great guy who we miss, why should they stop? They're getting backlash for glorifying a killer, here, by the twisted logic of a bunch of whacked out retards.

With Vince coming on TV last night announcing Benoit's death, the McMahon death angle is pretty much out the window. Probably right now, everyone from creative, McMahon and family, and probably a few higher ranked wrestlers are gathered in the "war room" and talking about where to go from here.

*ahem*

Vince McMahon came out last night to address the real life passing of Chris, Nancy, and thier son Daniel.
Vince McMahon stood in the middle of the ring in and empty arena saying what happend, and what that Raw was going to be.
Vince McMahon broke kayfabe because of a real life tragedy.

Mr. McMahon is/was the center of the limo storyline, not Vince.
It's a persona. Now maybe I'm a few cards short of a deck right now, and maybe my idea of "the show must go on" is a little too deep in me, and maybe I'm the only one that thinks this but the WWE can come back from Vince breaking kayfabe to keep the storyline with Mr. McMahon.

Let's not Russo this up. Alter the storyline as need be, and get rid of Jackass at summer slam if they have to (please!), but I want the Mr. McMahon story arc to go on.

No, he'll attempt to get heel heat by praising Benoit's homicide saying "After all of these years, Benoit finally grew a set."

<font color=white>Shows opens up with Vince backstage. He speaks about how he was involved in a limo explosion but then had to show his face due to tragic circumstances and that he could hardly go on pretending to be dead.

Pause.

Then whilst gradually working in his angry Vince voice, he says something about how he had a plan to rid the WWE of Bobby Lashley, had it all setup, it was his DNA in the car and the plan was foolproof. Then something like 'don't think I've forgotten about you Bobby! One way or another, I'll get you' etc blah blah.

(Later in the show, probably the close of the show, that FBI investigator dude shows up with a bunch of cops, Lashley would be involved somehow too they arrest McMahon for perverting the course of justice or something. He could even try and escape from the cops, throw in some comedy etc. Vince can then get off TV for as long as he likes)</font>

I'd be very mad if they continued the storyline. Fortunately, it sounds like it's being dropped.

This is a trying time, but you can start anew. Have new storylines. Give Cena someone else to feud with. Nitro, Punk, and Burke can have a threeway title feud. Up the RAW Tag Division. Do something to Marella... either drop the title or have him defend it every week so at least we get a working man's champ.

I just think continuing a "potential murder" angle would be in really weak taste.

I'd start RAW with the RAW intro, and then have Paul London & Brian Kendrick wrestle The World's Greatest Tag Team in a strong opening match. Part of me wants to say give them ladders and make it a Ladder Match to decide the next contenders to Lance Cade & Trevor Murdoch, but that might be overdoing it. Just give us a strong match to get back in the mood for wrestling. ECW did a good job with two really strong matches, RAW can follow suit.

Then have John Cena come out and cut a promo in the third segment (second is also devoted to the tag team match), and he sas thathe wants to know who is next in line, since he went through four men to retain the WWE Championship at Vengeance, he went through the ECW World Champion last week, who is left for him to go through. There is a bit of a pause, and then Mr. Kennedy comes out. Kennedy says that he was a better United States Champion than John Cena, and he called John Cena out on that fact, and Cena did nothing about it. Mr. Kennedy taunts Cena, by saying that he's come to the conclusion that Cena fears Mr. Kennedy. Cena agrees to put the WWE Championship on the line against Kennedy in the main event. Kennedy says that he made a better US Champion than Cena, and he will make a better WWE Champion than Cena.

We return, and we have the singles match of Carlito vs. The Sandman. Jim Ross talks about how Mr. McMahon wants to open the second hour of Monday Night RAW, and JR demands to know what the Hell is going on (he mimics the outrage the fans would have at being deceived by Vince). Carlito defeats The Sandman via disqualification, when Sandman gets his cane and starts whacking the crap out of Carlito. An Extreme Rules Match is signed between the two for next week.

Santino Marella is in the back giving an interview with Maria, and in walks William Regal. The Gentleman Villain wants to know how Santino is doing after his little bit of a..."bad showing" against Umaga at Vengeance. Regal reminds Santino that tonight we will see Regal & Umaga team up to take on Mick Foley & Santino Marella in a tag team match.

Vince McMahon opens the second hour, and he apologies for his little publicity stunt. Vince says that he staged the car bomb himself (I'm stealing from CSL here, I hope he doesn't mind), so he could get back at Bobby Lashley, and to improve ratings for his show. Jonathan Coachman comes out with Daniel Beck, Shane McMahon and some police officers, and Coach tells Vince that Mr. Beck informs him that staging something of the like is illegal, and that he needs to be taken in. The fans do their "Nah, nah, nah, nah...nah, nah, nah, nah...hey, hey hey...goodbye," thing as Vince is dragged off none too happy about this. Shane McMahon says that he will be take over World Wrestling Entertainment while the fate of Vince is decided.

In the back, after the commercial break, Chavo Guerrero is seen in the back talking to Shane McMahon, and Shane tells Chavo that he thinks he's got a great idea, and a program where the Cruiserweight Champion appears on all three brands is simply brilliant. Shane says that Chavo's first RAW title defence will be tonight, against Super Crazy. Shane also says that Candice Michelle will appear on all three brands as Women's Champion, to balance things out.

Mick Foley and Santino Marella defeat Umaga and William Regal via disqualification, as Regal & Umaga take it upon themselves to just rip apart Santino and Foley (who is still playing up his injury). This sets up Mick Foley vs. Umaga in a Street Fight and Santino Marella vs. William Regal for the IC Title at The Great American Bash.

In a rematch from Vengeance, Candice Michelle defends the WWE Women's Championship against Melina with a spinning heel kick giving her the victory. After the match, Victoria attacks Candice, and tells her she'll see her on SmackDown!.

Chavo Guerrero and Super Crazy work a fun cruiserweight match, with Chavo getting the pin with a Frog Splash, after barely kicking out of some near-fall predicaments. Super Crazy rolls through a Gory Bomb with the sunset flip at one stage, and even hits his three moonsaults for a very close two count.

In the main event, Mr. Kennedy defeats John Cena for the WWE Championship when Kennedy cheats his ass off to win the match. Mr. Kennedy cuts a celebratory promo, but Bobby Lashley, Randy Orton and King Booker all come out to crash the party. Mr. Kennedy is pissed off, claiming this isn't how it's meant to go down, as the show ends with John Cena and Bobby Lashley standing tall after they clear out Orton and Booker.

The Heat tapings prior to the show could feature Jeff Hardy opening against Daivari. These two worked a pretty decent match together on RAW, and I imagine they could do so again on Heat. Jeff Hardy gets the win with the Swanton Bomb, and Todd Grisham and Jonathan Coachman announce in their commentary of the show that Jeff Hardy will get a Cruiserweight Title shot because of his victory. Lance Cade & Trevor Murdoch make another Heat appearance, this time defeated Cryme Tyme relatively cleanly. They do cheat a little bit with the double teams, including a Sweet & Sour which allows Cade to pin JTG. The main event features Val Venis working as best he can to make Snitsky look good, with Snitsky getting the win. Hopefully with something a little stronger than that Big Boot.

The above was just a template I pulled out of my ass. That would probably be better if they are ready to move on with their regular programming.

But yeah, the best way to actually start off RAW next week, is to open with a strong wrestling match (London & Kendrick vs. WGTT seems like as good a option as any at this moment, maybe even throw in Lance Cade, Trevor Murdoch and The Hardys), and just let RAW ride the wrestling wave for a little bit. William Regal wrestling is a good idea, too. Regal can work a great match with anyone, so maybe just sticking him in a match with Santino Marella would be good. Val Venis is another guy the WWE sees as a professional, and a guy to go out there and have a good match with anyone. So having Val Venis work a match on the show, if everyone is still bummed about Benoit, may not be a bad idea, either, regardless of the man's stature on the roster. He'd need to be in there with someone with a little star power. I'm thinking maybe Carlito?

As for the storylines, I think CSL has the right idea about the Vince thing. Have him come out, announce he faked it to get back at Lashley, and have the police take him away (effectively taking him out of storylines), and maybe have Lashley come out to smile at Vince who is being dragged out of the ring in handcuffs.

I'll put this as simply as I can: the show must go on. They can do a brief (like 20 second) mention of the Benoit fiasco, explain that they didn't know the details, apologize and move on. Start fresh off Vengeance's results and forget the whole limo thing. It's the best they can do, given the fucked up way things played out.

I don't think they should even bother with Raw this Monday. Let's be honest, the show will be as shit as normal. Let them use events as an excuse not to bother for a while as the writers think up new shit.

Just have a couple of midgets fight in the ring for 2 hours. Can't be any worse than any of shows recently.

Chris Benoit will never be mentioned on WWE television again. Ever. Raw will most likely start with a big match and afterwards lead into Cena being challenged by someone doomed to job. I also have a strange feeling the whole Vince angle is never going to be mentioned either and we won't see McMahon for a while...

Knowing WWE, they'll probably have McMahon come out to the center of the ring, address the crowd, apologize for the tribute, the "death angle", etc. Then have him walk out of the ring, out of the arena and into the limo....

BOOM!

Then 8 different angles.
