I'm in the process of studying it in my film class.

Supposedly, it's the best movie ever made, even though it flopped in the theaters when it came out (due mainly to William Randolf Hearst, et al).

I was wondering if you guys had seen it. I personally think it is WAY ahead of it's time with the shots used and whatnot.

If you haven't seen it, go and see it if you can stand black and white films (which Orson Welles fought until his death to keep).

It's an awesome social commentary for it's time (1941), IMO.

Anybody?

Saw it, thought it was ****ing terribly boring.

The only reason it's so praised is because the shots it used were way ahead of its time, and it sorta invented all the modern shit we see in movies today. I didn't like it.

I didn't find it boring. I really did like the story. I wouldn't call it the greatest movie of all time but it is good. Plus, the Simpsons reference it in almost every episode featuring Mr. Burns.

I love this movie. It is really good. I also don't feel it is the single greatest movie ever made. When I initially saw it, I didn't enjoy it all that much. But when I got to college and studied it, I had a whole new appreciation for it.

Yeah, I was just studying it for my film class. The movie was ok, I guess, but it did have some great techniques in it that were ahead of it's time.

In terms of film-making technique, it's one of the best of all-time, if not the best.

However, in terms of "classic" movies, I'd rate it behind Casablanca, the Godfather, Gone With the Wind, Lawrence of Arabia, Singin' in the Rain...I could keep going.

fantastic movie, absolutely sensational. You know, piece of information, Orson Wells was once asked 'if Kane died alone, how did anyone know what his final words were?' and paid the guy who asked the question not to write such a question in any article until the film had been released
