I thought they said there wouldn't be any more after last year?

My thoughts is exactly. I guess they just scaled it down.

It's not open to the public this year. I think that's the key difference, and if I'm not mistaken, each company is more responsible than ever for showcasing their own games, etc, etc, etc., as opposed to having everything organized under one single roof.

They said they were scaling it down. I don't know how so many people got the impression it was over. Nothing they said would indicate that.

Yeah. It's a "Business and Media" show this time around. Closed its doors to the public, invatation only, and G4 has your key to get in.

However, Microsoft is going to be doing it's "Bringing it home" deal again which is pretty cool. I think Sony has something going on as well.

When is it?

When is it?

Wed.-Fri. this week in Santa Monica, CA.

However, a new event that WILL be open to the public, the Entertainment for All Expo, or E for All for short, is set for October 18th-October 21st, 2007 at the Los Angeles Convention Center and “will offer gamers the opportunity to see, try and buy video game products before they are on store shelves.”

Wow, the MS presentation is pretty underwhelming.

Viva Pinata and Gears of War on PC (and Gears has 2 extra chapters, apparently)? Whoopee.

I'm still happy about the whole 3 year thing, in regards to 360's, but come on...a good gaming lineup would make this presentation better. We've seen nothing so far.

So far the best thing that's been on here is Mass Effect and the announcement that it will be out in November. The rest is pretty boring. The best will be last.

That was so horrible. There is no way that Sony or Nintendo could not top that. Even if both of them just had someone come sit on stage and stare blankly for an hour and a half it would be more eventful.

I thought it was pretty cool....

Resident Evil 5 on Xbox 360!!!!! Hell Yeah

I guess mainly im more psyched for this because I dont own a Wii or PS3 so what ever Nintendo and Sony say that isnt PS2...PSP...or DS related is shit to me.

Ugh, this is shit. MS had nothing, Nintendo had Mario Kart.

Sony is going on now and they're showing off a new PSP. Looks pretty much the same but with video output, which would be a nice feature.

Heh, this conference is mental

Jack is back on stage, cracks some jokes (he's here all week folks!), the crowd eats it up though. See, they're not so bad. "So, as Kaz mentioned, the PSP comes in piano black, but it also comes in Ice Silver. We plan to offer it in an entertainment pack, including a 1 gig card and Daxter. We're also offering the Family Guy Peter Griffin "Frickin' Sweet' edition. "We're also offering another color, and I've brought a special person to help introduce this color. Ladies and gentlemen, Chewbacca!" Chewbacca enters stage right to the score of star Wars. Wookie banter fills the auditorium. He's holding a star Wars -themed PSP and promoting the Star Wars Battlefront pack, includes white PSP with Darth Vader's image on the back. jack and Chewy go back and forth -- it's endearing.

"Thanks for joining us Chewie, I know you've come a long way, and I see you've got your Sony PSP Battlefront Pack with you. It's a white PSP that features Darth Vader's image on the front." Chewie ROARS! "No Chewie, you can't have that one for free, but you will be able to buy it soon."

I have to give a major LOL to the fact that Sony said 11.4 million (I believe) units are shipping this year.

I just tuned into the Sony conference and they are showing footage of Killzone 2....

It looks alright but no where near what I think other people were expecting it to look like.

What was their reasoning for scaling it down in the first place? Did it get way too popular for them to handle or what?

Apparently so, that and it was apparently costing companies more than they were willing to pay to get into the show. Just read that it was up to over 60,000 attendees.

By the way, any news on Spore?

Spore got postponed a while a go. Pretty disappointing for a game with bunch of hype and the only the same creature creation demo over and over to show for it.

Has EA had anything to show yet? I'm wondering if there's any info about the new Sim City game. I'm hoping that what I've been reading about "SimCity Societies" has been scrapped and they're just going to make a SimCity 5 straight up. Why break a beautiful thing?
