yeah, I Know:$ ...

...but for the sake of discussion. I see a lot of people on here making fun (nothing serious) at Alienoid having mentioned pushing Val Venis in the past. Just wanted to hear some opinions on why not.

I know that pushing him as Venis the pornstar did not really work before, but plenty of others got more chances than he did (Mankind feud and later, as Sean Morely).

The fact is though, now the WWE is stretched more than ever talent wise, with three bands. Why could Venis, dropping his gimmick, not add something to any of those brands? WWE obviously rate his in ring work, as they are forever starting people off against Venis on Heat and in dark matches. He is a very solid worker and his mic skills were always confident and believable.

I remember back when he was heel, he had a really vicious streak in matches and had a really impressive looking rough moveset with a lot of sharp closed fists and the running knees off the ropes. Jobber opponents were half dead even before he landed the Money Shot.

Why not give him a pissed off shoot gimmick, tired "training" newcomers on Heat and changing back to his old name, embarrassed about his days as Val. Can imagine the crowd riling him up with Venis chants and the opponent getting punished for it.

Not saying he has to be main event, but he could be a solid talent on any brand. Maybe build him up on Smackdown, maybe gaining the US strap in the future before moving to ECW to help train and get over the new talent (obviously not in character)

Thoughts? Positives? Negatives?

As much as he's been jobbed he'll never be a main eventer. I think he could definately contribute to a weak IC Title picture on Raw right now though.

Val has a job for life, you think he cares if he's main eventing or even wrestling on every show?

Not so much talking about him, more what he could contribute to a brand, for the benefit of that brand, even if he does have a job for life. I am talking about what he could contribute, if anything.

The pornstar gimmick did work before. It kind of ran it's course, but he was gold for awhile.

I'm sure it was said that he didn't want to do mainstream shows anymore, and wanted to just do house shows and heat

Yeah, I believe he wanted a light travel schedule and less strenuous work.

Probably so that he didn't go nuts and kill his family.

And himself.

Just a guess, y'know.

Anyways more people see him do any given job than saw Kurt Angle win the TNA title.

How do you think up these things anyway?

I liked Val as Cheif Morley, but not as much as I liked Commisioner Regal.

I could see Val being put back as Chief Morley and moved to "head up" ECW.

Great GM situation:

Raw: William Regal
SD: Theodore Long
ECW: Chief Morley

Raw: William Regal

ECW: Chief Morley

Or here is a thought:
Raw: Coach w/Morley as his assistant
SD: Teddy
ECW: Regal

Or go back to Bischoff and Heyman.

Well, first off, val Venis will never be bought as anything near upper card. Not today. There was a time when they could have run with him in some form, but not anymore. There are some people who I think are irredeemable in terms of overall fan reaction, and Venis is one of them. That's ignoring things like "The look," and so on. He'd a good worker, a professional, and a decent guy to put on the mic. He's someone the crowd'll cheer, even though they know he's gonna lose.

Mostly, Alienoid gets shit for the extremes to which he pushes people who will never amount to much in any major promotion. I've got to admit, though, I miss the days when he could get away with being in the main event title scene, even if he was the guy the champ would squash on Monday Night. Then again, everyone seemed credible back then, even if just for one night, and the midcard wasn't a bad place.

Most of the ME guys today should be midcarders, but the midcard is worthless, so they're bumped up as MErs or bumped down to "who gives a shit?"

Which is a stepp above CW, still.

I am not saying make Val I-C champ again but they should def put him in the pic as a contender.

Val was good as Chief Morley, I dont know why WWE dropped that angle.

I think he can cut it in ring. He's got a bit of chunk on him now, but so has Kane and he's in line for a title shot.

I like him, I always pop at the titan-tron vid of Venis' - Cracks me up.

One thing stops Venis being pushed imo, I really don't think Vince wants him to be a Grand Slam winner. I think he feels Val would "water down" a top-notch pot of wrestlers.

A pity really. I almost marked out for seeing Val on Raw this week, and I was watching with people who are only wrestling fans of a couple of years so obviously I got some odd looks.

If he's not gonna get pushed, at least give him some more TV time?

I'm probably biased (just a little bit), but on RAW, when Val was making a comeback, did it seem to anyone else that the fans were actually buying into a little. They went from no reaction to at least something positive in Val's favour. He managed to build something in those four minutes he was in the ring with King Booker. It's a shame he won't get the chances he deserves.

What annoys me most about Val's position in the company is not that he's underutilised, per se (everyone is these days), but just how badly he is misused. The man is meant to be a porn star, yet in all the useless Diva segments, where is he? When they need someone to host the Diva Search, who do they get? Some guy from SmackDown! who doesn't know his lines, instead of RAW's resident porn star, that's who.

Yeah, I'd do anything for some promos of Val hitting it up in some bars with the shag-bags that are the Diva's. Of course, u got the "baddy" diva's not impressed. Like Victoria, but Val gets his way with her cos he's that damn good.

Of course, next week he'd be hitting on Maria and Santino 'Lets pay the worst homage to Gorilla Monsoon ever' Marella would not like this. Mini-fued, Val defeats a recent IC title holder and is thus back in the IC title picture. - Of course, they can just whack him in there...
