View Full Version : Who do you think will win the CW Open?

It's probably going to consist of 8-10 crusierweights, my guesses are:

Rey Mysterio
Jamie Noble
Billy Kidman
Nunzio
Tajiri
Akia
Sakoda
Ultimo Dragon
Paul London
Shannon Moore

I'm hoping that Ultimo Dragon will win the CW Open and go on to defeat Chavo Guerrero. In fact I think it's obvious that Chavo will job to whomever wins the battle royal, just because of how booked it is. (although the Elimination Chamber match at SS can lead one to believe othereise). Anyway I want Ultimo to be given the chance to fulfill his dream and win a championship at Wrestlemania. Also because I think he well deserves the title as much as he jobs on Velocity.

Unfortunately I think the actual winner will be Rey Mysterio. Tajiri and Noble probably won't because they're heels, and no one will care who wins the title in that case. Let's face it, as much as I love watching him in the ring, he also receives the most air time, besdies Tajiri and Noble, and will likely draw more if he defeats Chavo.

I read something saying that Dean Malenko might be a special entrant. That was several months ago though.

I hope somebody like Akio or London wins, but it'll probably be Rey.

I'm pulling for Rey and I think most likely it will be. Ultimo would be awesome, yeah. But Rey is getting a pretty decent push right now. He actually looked alright against Big Show tonight, and he made multiple appearances on SmackDown! I think to all the sudden have Rey out of the picture for the title at Wrestlemania would be a bad move, Rey is on fire right now. They should use that. In fact, I think Rey and Ultimo should go at it after Wrestlemania. It'd be a good deal for both of them.

Plus, alot of people don't even know who Ultimo is.

Yeah, But if Rey, Noble or Tajiri won the thing, it would be rather so predictable...Personally I want London or Ultimo to win, But that's like asking Sean O'Haire actually being put on TV

Predictability isn't always a bad thing. And this thing won't be even close to the top as far as the card is concerned. Not saying in quality, but that's just how Wrestlemania will be booked. It won't get much spotlight either way for it to need to be unpredictable.

Wait, the way I see it, Chavo will be IN the CW Open itself as well. Paul said that "he will defend it against anyone who enters the first ever Cruiserweight Open." He didn't say "the winner of whoever..." he said "against whoever." That probably means there will only be one CW match, not two as we previously believed.

It looks like it'll be an elimination style, with people who get pinned/submit getting eliminated until the final two are left. We have the potential for some crazy spots, and as long as we get the best WWE Cruiserweight match ever, I won't complain.

True. Rey's more or less a lock to get it, but I'd love to see Ultimo or London or Kidman win. No matter what, really, it's going to be a damn fun match.

Akio, Ultimo or London, I also heard a rumour ages ago that WWE were gonna try sign Psicosis or Juice for the match, or they were gonna put Hurricane in there and switch him back to SmackDown, but they were just rumours

I would like to see Nunzio win the title , but in WWE he only seems to be a jobber :(

I would like to see anyone but Tajiri, Rey, and Chavo win because its the same, dull title holders every month. I think every title (except for our loving god HHH's title) should switch hands every month (except for possibly the heavyweight titles). Having the IC title switch hands (although it might kill Orton's push) in a triple threat or Fatal Four Way would seriously help the WWE and not have Orton lose credibility. But this is a different topic for a different day.

If I had to guess for a winner, I would pray for Ultimo.

Definitely the ULTIMO DRAGON!

Stop this bullshit of having him on Velocity every week teaming with Funaki. Ultimo should be on Smackdown every week, in fact all cruiserweights should be, fighting each other, putting on spectular matches. Enough with the backstage segments which already seem way fake oppose to those in the past.

It'll be Rey, and he'll go to beat Chavo. It's too obvious to even wish for the other guys. :(

Yeah I think the way they said the match is working is that its elimination, and Chavo is in the match. But what I dont know, is if its turmoil style, where they start with two guys and then when one gets pinned a new guy comes out. Or are they going to start with everyone in the ring, and then have eliminations until one guys is left?

The way they seem to be using Mysterio it seems that they will have Heyman screw him in the match at Mania.

I see it playing out where Rey draws #1 (if its turmoil style) and a good idea might be to have Ultimo draw #2. Let them wrestle for 5 or 6 minutes, have Rey win, and then he shakes Dragon's hand and sends him on his way. I would then have Rey go through most of the guys, but finally get pinned later in the match by either Noble or Tajiri. But then I would have soemone suprising come out like say Shannon Moore and have him finally face the man who conviniently drew the last number Chavo Guerrero. I would have Chavo retian, but it would be close, and that way you have built up a new contender for Chavo. At the same time, Rey lost to someone, and they can fued for a #1 contenders position. I think that would be better for the long term. Reason being, I dont think Chavo should lose the title just yet, and they should make people really want to see Rey get the title back.

Dude... Chavo's only had the title for two weeks.

I also see him retaining, btw.

I don't think Chavo can win simply because that will be another heel victory at a WM that already looks to be favoring the heels.

The only problem with this match is that wwe will not let the cruiserweights be as good as they can be as they would probably show up the heavyweights and we all know whhho would hate that. I know he recently held the belt for a good while, but to me the best cruiserweight is Tajiri. If they let him destroy people like he did in ECW he would be so over. But i think they should give someone else a push like London or Moore.

I actually see the Cruiserweight open being announced as a 15-man deal.

At WM, we see 12 guys in the ring before the match: Chavo, Rey, Tajiri, Akio, Sakoda, London, Kidman, Nunzio, Moore, Noble, Funaki, and Ultimo.

Then Spike Dudley's music hits and he is introduced to the surprise of the fans, and the announcers state the obvious that his contract expired on Raw and he was now on Smackdown.

Next, Dean Malenko's music hits and he is annonced to a huge pop. The announcer even mentions that he is coming out of retirement only for this one match.

Finally, the Hardy's music hits and Jeff Hardy makes his surprise return, again to a huge pop. He runs to the ring and the match begins.

After an exciting match that hopefully lets the cruiserweights showcase all of their skills, I dunno who would win. As long as it is not Rey, Noble, Tajiri, Sakoda, Spike, or Hardy, I'll be happy. I think I'd even be rooting for Malenko, because if he won the title would have to be vacated and it could set up a tournament for the following weeks on Smackdown between the other 14 men, giving the cruiserweights even more exposure.

You know, I'd laugh my ass off listening to the announcers trying to sell Goldberg as a cruiserweight.

Moore.

My Opiuion it'll be Rey, But Shannon Deserves it due to the fact that he was jobbed out to Brock, Bigshow, Matt Morgan, A-Train, and Nathan Jones. He deserves some form of gold just because it would be awsome.

I hate to tie this dream down to reality, but the fact is, if Deano Machino came back, he'd probably get little reaction. This is WWE we're talking about, and a lot of the fans probably wouldn't give a damn.

I would expect Hurricane to come into the CW division.

Who cares who wins?

What we all want is an incredible match. One of those old school WCW Cruiserweight Title matches (Rey Misterio vs Billy Kidman, Eddie Guerrero vs Ultimo Dragon, etc). If the match is off the hook good, I dont care who wins.

Yeah, a shock winner would help elevate another cruiserweight into credible contention. But if Rey Rey won, I'd still pop huge.

Man, if Dean Malenko joined the fray I would mark out.

I think it will be Rey but i hope it will be Ultimo so that he can defeat Chavo for the CW title...that would be cool IMO, so Ultimo can defend against Rey would be really good

The way Heyman booked it, "Any Cruiserweight can enter" lead me to believe there will be some suprise entrants. Whether that be people from the Raw side of the roster entering or new addiditions to the WWE, I don't know.

I don't see Spike Dudley in this match. Even though he is a CW he's not a CW style wrestler.

I don't know how literally they're taking that. On Velocity, the announcers mentioned that any CW from Smackdown! Could enter.

Then again, when's the last time we had consistency in the WWE/

I gotta go with the majority and say Mysterio will get it. Especially since he jobbed to Matt Hardy last year at Wrestlemania in the CW match.
