Rey Mysterio was originally scheduled to wrestle Edge at the Great American Bash, but a decision was made on Sunday, July 1 to pull him from the match. They gave the challenger's role to Kane at the next night's SmackDown taping instead. Vince made the call to pull him from the match for a number of reasons.

Mysterio had given them the indication that he wouldn't ready to return to the ring by the time of the Great American Bash pay-per-view. Rey is trying to push his return to August, as he feels he'll be ready by then. However, he is getting pressure to return now because WWE officials believe that the SmackDown roster is thin.

Kane's program with Edge may actually be a few month program. Vince thinks that the fans would love to see Kane chase Edge for the title.

Sorry, but I :rofl:ed at this.

Basically because they said the SD roster is thin, yet it was THEIR OWN DECISION to send 3/4ths of what was SD's heart to RAW and ECW. It's their fault that SD's roster is "thin", and now they want to say that without looking in the mirror and saying who caused that to happen.

The only reason Kane has a shot at the title is because there is so few credible babyfaces on SD! I would count him and Matt Hardy on the whole SD! roster who could do a program with Edge right now. The only other credible opponents (MVP, Finlay) are both heels so that rules them out.

Well, I am pretty sure they were banking on a long Taker title reign, hence the Mark Henry and Khali pushes.

Still stupid not to have any backups though.

Taker's injury was pre draft roster.

Everyone was fawning over Kennedy moving to Raw.

I said "You watch, Kennedy will become a Jobber to Guys Higher Up In The Food Chain."

Let's see, he lost to Super Crazy in under 10 seconds his first match back.

Last week he took the pinfall against Lashley and Jeff Hardy.

If they kept him on Smackdown, they could've easily brought him back to chase Edge and the World Title.

You know, they gradually build up the match for Wrestlemania 24.

I was gutted when he got drafted to RAW for mainly two reasons. One that my fav show Smackdown! lost another one of its stars and that he would go nowhere on RAW. WWE really fucked up here, cause the Kennedy vs Edge feud if booked correctly could have been the feud of the year.
