WWE house show report 7-21 Anaheim

by Guy Bogard

Just got back from the Raw show in Anaheim. It was a good show with 3 very good matches.

Super Crazy pinned Sylvan in 5:17.
Sylvan has bleached hair and Maryse was his valet. They had a good look together and both spoke in French before the match.Crazy was popular due to the large Hispanic contingent in attendance.Average opener.

Sandman & Jim Duggan beat Carlito & William Regal when Duggan pinned Carlito in 8:07.Carlito got a big face pop for his entrance and Sandman came through the crowd. Not very good although the crowd still enjoyed it.

Val Venis pinned Santino Marella in 6:04
Santino played heel and not much heat.

Cade & Murdoch retained the tag titles in a 3 way elimination over London & Kendrick & Haas & Benjamin in 15:02.A very good match. They did a cool spot where Benjamin grabbed London's leg while he was going for a diving tag.London did a great job in struggling for about a minute with Benjamin holding on until London finally kicked him and made the tag.Kendrick pinned Haas with sliced bread#2 and then Cade pinned London with his sit out spinebuster.London & Kendrick got decent applause after the match. They may have been teasing a break up as Kendrick seemed to walk back on his own leaving London in the aisle.

Candace pinned Melina in 8:38 to retain the women's title.I think these two overachieved.

Umaga pinned Jeff Hardy in 12:46 to retain the IC title.
Besides Cena,Hardy was the most over guy on the show and this match had the heat of a big show main event. If they do the same match tomorrow it will be very good.Crowd bought a few of Hardy's near falls before he was pinned by the spike.

Lashley pinned Mr. Kennedy in 9:41 with the spear.Average.

Cena pinned Orton in 24:20 with Ricky Steamboat as ref.
Another very good match with a ton of heat.Finish saw Steamboat get bumped and Orton hit the rko.Another ref ran out but Cena kicked out which got the biggest pop of the show.Orton decked the ref.Steamboat got back up and Orton shoved him so Steamboat chopped him and Cena hit the FU.They had a staredown with Cena & Lashley.Cena did a promo where he put over Lashley and the crowd was chanting what at him.He then talked about how seven years ago he was in the hallways of this same arena handing out flyers for UPW shows. He said that tonight's attendance was 16,000 and broke the arena's attendance record. If it was sold out then a lot of people didn't show up as I'd say the place was 80% full max including empty seats on the floor.

Take care,
Guy Bogard

You lose to Val Fucking Venis on a house show.

Or how about when it's 2007 and you are jobbing to Hacksaw Jim Duggan...

Sandman & Jim Duggan beat Carlito & William Regal when Duggan pinned Carlito in 8:07

On second thought, I guess I can forgive that. It's a house show... live crowd is gonna enjoy seeing the old guy go over and ideally, no one else is gonna know about it.

However since it's not like Val Venis getting the win over a guy who is supposed to be a face is just to play to crowd, I would say yes Marella's push is over.

I don't think it is the end of Marella's push, I think it is indeed the start of Val Venis' meteoric rise to the top of the WWE Championship mountain.

You know if this match gets on RAW, that he will use this as his saying right. Seeing as how Vince and Co. read these forums :shifty:

Is it possible that Val Venis winning is the result of the refs not knowing who the winner was supposed to be because of the new house show rules?

New house show rules?
Referees are not given the match finishes before the matches, so they are to call them as though they are legitimately refereeing legitimate matches.

Which only applies to the first half of the show....

Which Val Venis vs. Santino Marella was. However, I'm not sure if they are still doing that house show experiment.

Val Venis actually gets wins more than you'd think. He's gone over Charlie Haas twice, and Dan Rodman. Losing to Val Venis just means that Santino Marella is where I thought he was: "We don't have anything for you."

The WWE are idiots, sometimes. I'm glad Santino is playing the heel, though. I really think a heel run could work for the guy, in kind of a pissed off "You think anyone can do what I do, I'll pull one of you out of the crowd and beat you to a pulp" way. Of course, the WWE won't actually explain his heel turn, and he's just turn heel.

I'm glad to see that Sylvan is with Maryse. I've been calling for that ever since she showed up in the WWE. Now all they need to do is add Rene Dupree to their little group, and get them on SmackDown! to help out.

There will be some angle with Maria on Raw to turn him heel. All burns on WWE aside, I'm pretty sure they would atleast do that.

Shit. Oh yeah, sorry, his posts are just getting shorter. It's not like him. It's all compact and... well not like the 'noid.

@ Alienoid - What's wrong m8?

Venis FTW. Should slap him in the IC picture easily.

Uhh...wait....Marlilla is the heel...

PLEASE don't tell me that they are trying the "Anti-American" shit again with him. If they are, then I'm glad he got no heat, because...well....THE FUCKING ANTI-AMERICAN GIMMICK HAS BEEN SO FUCKING OVERDONE!!!

Hope that isn't it, though.

They should bring back Tiger Ali Singh to be the financer of the Hindu stable of Steve Blackman, Val Venis and Daivari. Also Muhammad Hassan.
