Swedish media reported today that Peter Forsberg has decided to play in the Swedish league for Modo next season, even if there isn't a lockout. Also Tommy Salo is going to play for them next season.

sucks.

Selanne also has said that he'll play in Europe next year.

Naslund and Bertuzzi are talking about playing together somewhere over in Sweden if there's a lockout.

would naslund and bertuzzi be able to play? they both have contracts through the 2004-2005 season with the Canucks.

If there is a lockout, I can see that happening...

But Forsburg isn't done with the NHL yet and Salo is under contract but I wouldn't cry if he left the Oilers - he's been playing off and on lately and it's pissing me off

wow thats pretty crazy

I thought NHL was like top of the line as far as hockey goes? I thought it'd be like a baseball player leaving the MLB to go and play over in Japan

Or like a soccer player leaving Europe to come play in the MLS

Well for the most part, that's how it is. There are some very good leagues over in Sweden and I think Switzerland or Germany or something. Don't quote me on this, but I think players can make more money in the NHL, which is why it's the "preferred" league.

Plus all the North American (mainly Canadians, not to sound arrogant) players play in the NHL, so there's a pretty high level of competition there.
