It's been discussed, and there may have been other polls...but this is the MB's Official "Who has the brightest future?" Poll and Thread.

Vote and discuss!

Between who?

Mercury Bullet

Poll is up...and I voted for MVP. I think he is the closest thing to the complete package among the mid/upper mid carders that could realistically be main-eventers. If you vote, "Somebody else" say who it is and why...

I too voted MVP, but I like the chances of almost everybody on that list, save Santino. I do love Santino, though. He was hilarious on Raw.

"Excuse me, I can't hear you because these guys are too loud, talking about how they hate babies and rainbows and that kind of stuff"

I think Lashley only because he's the prototype mold they like in their stars.

mvp isn't far from the mold of what they like. He isn't the roided out freak, but he has size ( you would never see him work with Jimmy Wang Yang) And some actual wrestling skill. I would just love to see him work with Cryme Tyme! You know, like a spin on Vick and Pacman JOnes, MVP is the superstar that can't leave his ghetto assed friends behind, so they turn out doing his dirty work...

I'd love it!

I desided to rank them in who's career is the brightest...

11
Santino Marella
When he showed up he didn't show up with a bang like the other people on the list he showed up with a resounding thud. He seems to have in ring skill and his mic skills though bland are alright. He's small which will hurt him, and I don't really see him every getting near any of the World Championships... possibly ECW.

10
Umaga
We've most likly seen the peek of this mans career, he's pretty good in the ring, but his gimmick will never be respectable to carry the company on any of the brands with the exception of ECW. He'll probably be upper-mid card for another year but after that I wouldn't be surprised to see him get released.

9
Kenny Dykstra
Kenny's a wild card to me. He seems like he has talent, but he hasn't figured out the formula yet. If he puts it all together he could be a min eventer in the future, but if people like Rene Dupree, Billy Gunn and Val Venis put it together they could have been main eventing... how ever they did and they are all no where when it comes to the legit ladscape of wrestling. Kenny is so young he can go either way...

8
CM Punk
I like CM Punk they guy is good in the ring, and good on the mic. His talent should dictate that he become a main eventer in the WWE, however he doesn't have the look or the x-factor that gets you huge in the WWE. I don't see hime holding any higher title then the ECW Championship in the WWE. However if he were to jump to TNA he might be able to lead that company... possibly.

7
John Morrison
I look at him much the same way I used to look at Edge back when he was just breaking up with Christian. He has this natural chrisma to him, he just stands there and people want to hate him. He could be a solid main eventer in the future he just needs to find a character that he is comfortable with, much the way Edge finally found his way into being the Rated R Superstar.

6
Marcus Cor Von
The thing this guy has over all the other people I've mentioned so far is that he knows his character, and he is totally comfortable living in that character's skin. When it comes to wresting in the WWE that is pretty much the thing that gets you way over with the fans, if he believes his character, we will as well. He has to work on his in ring ability, but as the WWE has proven even if you don't have good in ring ability you can still be pushed to the moon.

5
Montel Vontavious Porter
The first person that I have mentioned that, barring something tragic, will definitly one day hold one of the two top titles in the WWE. MVP has the mic skills, he believes his character, and the guy can flat out go in the ring. He is entertaining as all hell. The only problem with MVP is the fact that he doesn't have a very good look, I'm not sure what it is exactly but his look doesn't say top heel or top face in the company.

4
Elijah Burke
When he was taging with Sylvester Turkay I was saying that I was his First Mark, it was actually the line over my avatar... Anyway, I think Elijah has every tool available to main event and to win major titles... I don't thik he'll ever be the top face or heel of the company however, he will simply be a very entertaining and deserving champion once he attains it.

3
Bobby Lashley
He's basically already the number 3 face in the company befor he got hurt. Lashley will be a main event staple for as long as he wants. He doesn't nor will he probably ever have the mic skills to be the top guy in the company, but the WWE believes in him, he has the look and in a year or so he'll be putting on some very respectable matches. He's already arrived...

2
Mr. Kennedy
To those who say that he's a one trick pony what with the repeating of his name just haven't been paying attention. In his feud against the Undertaker he had some really chilling promos. This guy understands how to not only be funny and goofy and have people hate you, but he knows how to be dark and serious and have people hate you. In a few years, Triple H willing, Kennedy will be the number one heel in the company or, John Cena willing, the top face, he's just that good. The only thing that can stop him is a booking team vendetta, much the same that felled Chris Jericho.

1
Carlito
DON'T PISS OFF THE BOSS!!! Carlito right now should be where Rany Orton is, and Randy Orton right now should be the top heel in the company with an impressive title reign behind him. You know why neither or them are where they should be? Because they embarassed or pissed off the boss. Carlito has the mic skills, is dynamic on the ring, can make them laugh, and make them hate, and can dazzle in the ring. He has psycology on and off the mike, and ring work that advances every time he goes out. If Carlito doesn't get lazy or impatiant he could be the face of the company, heel or face. He is so good all he has to do is get out of his own way.

I must not have gotten the memo, I was too busy trying not to fall asleep during the one promo which led to him beat up Taker with the microphone.

I'm talking about the promo that he did backstage with a black background, and he was talking about the Undertaker's legacy and how all things have to come to an end.

If you're a Mr. Kennedy hater, that's cool you're entitled to your opinion, but in my opinion his promo was very chilling an intense and poinent. Much better then any of the promos of anyone else on the list have ever pulled off.

Well no Kennedy is never going to be as big as Bret but then again you're making an invalid comparison here. It's not even fair for Kennedy and I dont like the guy.\
As for entertainment, when Kennedy makes a guy as huge as Bret did with Austin, and gives us something to sink our teeth into like Bret did throughout his career, then we'll talk.
If there was a mt.rushmore of pro wrestling, Bret Hart occupies one of the spots.

You won't get any arguments out of me about Bret. He was great. However he was a product of his time, things were much different back then. He was in the right place at the right time at the end of the steroid contreversy and he was a workhouse.
However, aside from his entrance music and his attire there was nothing charismatic or entertaining about him. He worked great matches, and he was a great Wheaties box type face. He couldn't cut a promo for the life of him, he wasn't terrible but he just got by. He only cut good promos when they were semi shoots about Shawn Michaels or him bitching, and even then they could still be ZZzzz.
He was extremely talented in some areas, but very lacking in others. I don't argue his strenths and accomplishments, but to ignore his fortunate circumstances and shortcomings is pretty blind.

As for making Austin, okay keep telling yourself that. He helped him for sure. He even was key to putting him over. But he didn't MAKE Austin. Austin was a bigger star in his sleep than Bret was on his best day, and it was due to his own shtick. After he got done with Bret he was back down working IC matches with his younger brother and he couldn't be denied.
Austin drew more money at shows where he wasn't even scheduled to be at, just in the crowds wildest dream of seeing him, than Bret did on his best day.

Maybe it's nobody specific, just somebody other than the guys who are being pushed. As in, it's just too early to tell. You know, like Steve Austin, Rocky Maivia, Hunter Hearst Helmesely and Mankind in 1996. As opposed to guys like Marc Mero and Ahmed Johnson, who they wanted to push.

Perhaps, unless you count Canada, where Bret on his best day probably easilly compares. We cant just think of america alone. I'd be willing to claim Bret's overness in Canada is greater than Austins overness anywhere else on this planet.
I love austin though, and fully agree he did get himself star status and had it in him. But no doubt he needed that one guy to help get him as far as he could possibly go before he either makes it or breaks it himself.

Jeritron

I knew the worldwide thing would come into play. But then again, David Hasselhoff outdraws Bret and Austin combined in Germany. Worldwide certainly counts, but I tend to focus on North America when it comes to a wrestlers star power I suppose. Call me an American pig.

Seriously though, Bret's a legend. Bret was a draw (on some level). He was the biggest draw of his time, if only for a couple years.
I'm not knocking Bret as much as I'm defending Kennedy. I just knew you were very very fond, teetering on biased, towards Bret.
In which case it wouldn't be fair to knock Kennedy of all people of being boring, when Bret (especially at that stage of his career) was a bottle of nyquil with sunglasses.

p.s. I don't even like Kennedy that much, I just think he has potential and people seem to be taking a huge liking to him. And I can't deny his talent and charisma

I voted MVP, would have been Kennedy, but in the 2+ years he’s been with the company he’s already been on the shelf twice, seems injury prone.

MVP has a believable gimmick and has been improving all year, I haven’t seen any improvement in Kennedy over his first 6 months on TV, nothing against Ken, I think he’s awesome, but I don’t see any development from him. MVP has come on leaps and bounds thus far.

And a note on Santino, after watching Raw last week, I’m loving this semi heel thing he’s got going on, I hope he does this stalker thing I’ve heard about as he did it in OVW as well, he does have talent, but as already said he’s too small for a title, but I can see him sticking around.

I voted for MVP.

Mr Kennedy has been a favourite of mine, and I think he's brilliant but needs another high profile feud like he had with Taker to properly get over. WWE seem pretty keen on him (Mr Money In The Bank 07) and the rumour he was to be McMahon's son. He feels out of place on Raw and hasn't had alot to do, so I'd much prefer him to go back to Smackdown and work a program with Kane or Matt Hardy.

Back to MVP, he is flat out ballin'! I haven't marked out for a cocky heel character like him since Kurt Angle. He is great on the mic, has tonnes of charisma, looks believable in character, and after working under Chris Benoit has become a tremendous all-rounder. Some of his counters and reversal holds remind me alot of Benoit too.

The fact he has two championships right now says alot about how WWE feel about him, I think by mid-2008 we'll see MVP in a world championship match.

Also, MVP + Matt Hardy is the best feud on TV right now IMO.
