Okay, so it won't be released until next year probably, but what we know (http://www.wowwiki.com/World_of_Warcraft:_Wrath_of_the_Lich_King) from BlizzCon about this game has already got many a tongue wagging. Level cap will be up to 80. New hero class in the mysterious and possibly necromantic Death Knight. The introduction of the Northrend continent with the floating Dalaran as its neutral Shattrath equivalent. New quests, instances, battlegrounds, and dances. New and changeable hairstyles. Siege weapons and destructible buildings. The chance to take on Arthas/Ner'Zhul. This expansion is going to be so fucking badass.

On the downside, only like 10 guilds have even come close to finishing the endgame content from The Burning Crusade, so I dunno. Maybe it's too soon. Personally though, I am stoked for this release, no matter how far away it is.

Discuss.

In hindsight, probably could have kept this in the existing WoW topic.

I'm in the middle about the expansion. I play somewhat casually now, still a few hours a day sometimes but I am only playing a level 68 Shaman right now. I'm not too excited about the raised level cap because I don't really enjoy levelling, but it will be fun with new zones I suppose.

Hero classes will be cool, I'm curious what the other hero classes will be. I'm personally really hoping for Blademaster.

I was at Blizzcon and got to try out the expansion, but it was highly disappointing. I came out of the press conference where they spoke about the Death Knight, and being level 80; only to sit down at the demo and can only play my current, level 70 character, in 1 new zone, and only 20 minutes to do so. It was really stupid and pointless. I wish they had the Death Knight ready for us to try, but whatever.

They gave us beta keys, so I'm assuming that it will be for WotLK, so when that comes out I'll probably play it for an hour before I give away my beta account like I did last time. :p

As soon as I heard the expansion was announced, I just had a chuckle to myself. Blizzard is going to kill the game. First, the Death Knight requires that you go from 1-80 in order to unlock it. Second, it STARTS AT level 68, meaning Blizzard only has to create 12 levels of content for the Death Knight, and 10 new levels of content for the rest. Pretty lazy on their part.

Not only that, but people were pissed enough at doing countless raids (and not even getting ALL of the content done) only to have all of their gear rendered useless by the BC expansion. PvP is unbalanced enough as it is, and world PvP is stupid and pointless. With level 80's running around, it will be even MORE pointless (which I didn't think would be possible)

The end result will be that half the server plays as a Death Knight (Hell, PvP is pretty much rogues and hunters only from what I've heard from forums and people I know who still play), and Arthas will be killed approximately 2,678,381,053 times and will miraculously revive himself after every fight, thus taking away any smidgen of epic storyline the game had going for it.

You're pretty much right on Requiem. Don't forget the large amount of warlocks, though. :p

I don't expect I will be playing WoW by the time this expansion comes out anyway, if FFXI doesn't take me away then Warhammer Online surely will.. I'm in the beta and it is awesome.

Anyone who gets pissed off by this, is a fucking moron. Of course there's gonna be expansions that make your gear useless AT 80. It's a fucking MMO if people can't accept that, they shouldn't be playing. Hell, people on my server that clear'd Naxx used there Tier 3 up to 70 and when they started Karazhan. It will prolly be the same way with Tier 7, or whatever the highest tier is by the time WotLK comes out.

If they dont release this for another 2 years. I'm fine with it. Anytime before and i'll probably quit the game cause i'm just now getting into Karazhan.

That's not what I'm talking about. I'm talking about how people raided for months doing the next tiers, only to find out when BC came out that the new gear was easier than shit to get. So the gear that they just spent months collecting was rendered useless because the new gear didn't even really require the old stuff to get. New guilds that hadn't done the old stuff could do a few raids and were then just as good as these guys who had been doing stuff for months trying to stay ahead of the game.
The same thing happened when they made it easier to grind honor. The guys who had done it the hard way got fucked over because everyone else could get the same stuff easier.

I remember a TON of the big guilds from the game quitting because of this. It was all over the forums. The official ones, MMORPG.com, IGN.. etc. Though you may not have been upset about it, it was no secret that A LOT of people were pissed, and are still pissed at the way Blizzard is doing things.

So even though some people are going to be excited about this new expansion, Blizzard is making a huge mistake because they will still be losing a lot of people who are just getting sick of it.

The thing, though, is, at least with FFXI, some gear have other effects (like additional MP, a weapon skill, additional hard to find stat boosts) that make them worthwhile even when the level needed to equip such gear is WAAAAY behind you (I know the light staff in FFXI is perfect for WHM's to have even ten levels beyond the min level to carry it is, believe it was 52, will have to look it up again). In WoW, it appears to not be that way. Just use it until it fucks you over. I think that is what he's compaining about.

They don't happen to have a buddy program do they? :shifty: A couple betas I've been in have been like that.. where you can give them info for someone you know, and they'll send them an invite.

Hmm, TBC didn't have anything like that but I'll let you know if there's anything.

It wont be 2 years. But you'll be into BT and Hyjal by the time it comes out. Kara is ezmode. We run it with alt tanks who are still in blue and greens and clear it.

Hmm....is that in response to the WOW video I had posted here but I deleted (knowing the heat I'm getting these days)?

When I had mono I reactivated my second account and got back into the game. By the time I get this toon to 70 and get decent gear this xpac should be around the corner, so the timing works out perfectly for me. I'm really intrigued by the inscription profession, and obviously the higher level cap. I'm excited about Northrend because it seems Blizzard is actually trying to progress the lore of Warcraft now, which is one of the driving factors in me even liking the game so much. Don't personally care for new classes/hero classes or the like; I played a mage for 2 years and was fine with it, and I intend on keeping this Shaman for a long while.

I had a little time and started levelling after the expansion came out a month ago or so and I closed my account for later use again and another xpac?

I pretty much quit.
