I've been wanting to get into a new medium of wrestling so I asked a Japanese Wrestling Tape Reviewer where I should start and he recommended me AJPW Feb-April 1993 from High Spots.

So I looked up the price and it's only $10. Sounds awesome.

Rob Van Dam and Stan Hanesen vs. Kenta Kobashi and Toshiaki Kawada.

So, what tapes/DVDs have you bought recently?

OK no I haven't, Blackstar have just said they are out of stock and apparently it can take several months till they get them in again. So what with them being WWF ones they will probably never have them again, so I cancelled them.

RICKY, you should try Ebay or half.com. Half.com is better I think for this sort of stuff. I found WWF The Best of RAW volumes I & II combo DVD for less than $20 (including s&h) on half. Credit (or Debit) Card needed tho.

Why's that?

I'm not looking forward to it only because of the RVD/Hansen vs. Kobashi/Kawada.

Basically because if you are someone who wants to check out some new product, you don't watch wrestling from 11 years ago. If you want a classic Japanese tape to start with than you have to get the 1995 Super J Cup. If you want to get into the product, I'd advise some recent NOAH tapes probably should start with the ***** match between Kobashi and Misawa last year. Always start as current as possible and then work backwards. Imagine wanting to get into WWE and starting by watching a bunch of TV tapings from 1993. It would probably put you off for life! ;)

I'm starting with one particular timeframe and working my way upwards so that I know my stuff from then and get acquainted with older wrestlers and such from Japan.

I don't wanna do the Super J Cup because it is independent of most of the feuds and that would leave me up shit creek with familiarity.

Also, I'm not buying some best of the year thing until I finished the year on TV because as I have heard with Japan, psychology is built up throughout the months and if you see it you may be like "that's it?" because you aren't in on the story.

Anyway, already ordered. I got Funky Fly to order it too.

Only hardcore smarks think about the months building up bullsh</>it. A good match is a good match.

I only advise because your situation seems like mine when I first got into Japanese wrestling. Unless you are going to keep up to date and by the NOAH TV tapes every month then what's the point really?

I just wanna familarize myself with a certain time period, and 1993 seems like a good place to start with Kawada on the uprise, Misawa as the Triple Crown Champion, Stan Hansen doing his legend thing, and Steve Williams with his tag thing. It all works with me.

Besides, I'm not talking about storyline buildup. I'm talking about like certain clues during matches that would help lead up to it all.

Blah, no point in arguing with me, as I have already ordered the tape.

 Not arguing anyway bro. It's up to you what you do and who you listen to. Doesn't affect me either way

Ordered WWF One Night Only & Over The Edge '98 from people on Amazon. One Night Only should hopefully be here by tomorrow as I ordered it on Monday night, but it took until Tuesday night to finish processing the payment. Over The Edge I ordered earlier and is still processing payment, so hopefully I'll have that by the weekend.
