It's just a redo of the original series, with a different ending/apparently new characters.

Thats pretty dumb.

But typical of anime.

Been following this since the announcement and cannot wait. I am a huge Evangelion fan and really can't wait to see how this turns out.

I love NGE. I'd like to see the remake but when they said it would tone down the psycho-analyst talk I got worried that it was being toned down.

Neon Genesis Evangelion is fucking awesome, people. I kid you not.

I think I could never get into it because of the psycho-babble :p

Plus mech anime is kinda :-\ to me anyway.

Eva is pretty different from other 'Heavy Mech' anime's I've seen around. Yeah it features kids in machines, but there's not one space battle. Dare I say its realistic in how giant humanoid machines may work in our world.

Agree'd it's not so much the Mecha that the shows about either. It's more about the characters, towards the end of the series the Mechs took a back step and it was more about the characters themselves. How they came to be how they were, why they act the way they do.

Not at all?

From a science and engineering point, humanoid form is a bad thing to reproduce mechanically.

I'm not sure why you'd want to go more realistic with an unrealistic idea anyway. Strikes me as making a bad thing worse.

Yeah Heavy Mechs would make more sense from a technical view, but Eva wanted a different look for them. Aside from the design aesthetic, how the politics around the Evas work is very interesting. It's not a simple, "We have this, we kill you with it."

I have never been so upset with the ending to a series. After expecting so much of anime after watching Cowboy Bebop, this turned me off to watching it. I finished NGE a few years ago and I haven't watched another anime series since.

A heavily chopped up version that ran for like 20 episodes, ya.

Yeah the ending for Eva is one of those you either hate or you love. The fandom of Eva doesn't really help it's cause much either. Personally I liked the ending for the movie but not the TV Series that much, both left me with a "Is that it" feeling though.

I'm pretty sure "Is that it?" was the first sentence that came out of my mouth after the movie ended.
