I can't seem to remember, but wasn't this the first interbrand match after the initial draft? I vaguely remember them building it up as such, but was there an interbrand match before this (on TV/PPV)?

Nope I remember in early Aug the UnAmericans (RAW) vs Rey/Kidman (Smackdown) in the Australian Tour in early Aug 02.

I remember the story to the match.

Benoit was drafted to Smackdown on the Roster Spilt. However when he returned he was making appearences on RAW. He was on RAW for a couple months and then there was a period where Bischoff and Steph were stealing talent from each brand and Benoit went to Smackdown with the I-C Belt. The winner of the RVD/Benoit match got to keep the belt on that shows brand.

Was that tag match aired on TV? If not it doesn't count.

Yup it was a PPV in Australia I believe. Plus it was released on DVD here in the States.

Also the KOTR semis had interbrand matchups. RVD (RAW) Vs Jericho (Smackdown) and Brock (RAW) vs Test (Smackdown)

I thought Billy & Chuck versus 3 Minute Warning was the first interbrand matchup.

Also, the Benoit versus RVD match at SummerSlam is highly underated in my opinion. I was actually hoping for it to be on the RVD DVD set that came out in 2005, but nope.

I believe Billy and Chuck vs 3 Minute Warning was in the fall of 02.

That was a REALLY good PPV. I would go so far as to say there hasn't been one as good since, at least in terms of match quality.

One Night Stand beats it out actually, if not just for the sheer emotion of it.

For sure!

The rise of Lesnar over The Rock. The return of Shawn Michaels against Triple H. Benoit versus RVD. Jericho versus Flair. Eddie versus Edge. Taker versus Test. Angle versus Mysterio. Booker & Goldy versus Storm and Christian.

Pretty tough to beat a card lined up like that.

That sounds fucking good. I can't remember the last time I thought that about a card :(

What about Wrestlemania 19?

Angle VS Lesnar
Michaels VS Jericho
Austin VS Rock
Booker T VS Triple H
Rey Mysterio VS Matt Hardy
Benoit & Rhyno VS Los Guerreros VS WGTT

Summerslam 2002 was an awesome event, but I hear how it was the last "good" PPV WWE has done far too often. Sure, WWE has been in a down period the last 5/6 years, but there is still occasionally a good PPV.

BTW UK and Australian PPV's surely don't count. They always had 2 annual PPV's here exclusively for UK fans, and they never had any effect on weekly storylines.

I think Summerslam 02 is a top 3 or 5 Summerslam of all time IMO.

And I thought the WWE wanted more ratings.

I think the last great WWE PPV was Vengence 05. Angle/Michaels rematch a good HIAC match tween Batista and HHH, A great TT between Cena, Jericho, and Christian etc.

I also really enjoyed One Night Stand 2006. RVD wins the WWE Championship!!!

The Australian PPV thing you're talkin about was only released on DVD was never aired on tv...at least over here.

Yes it did!!!!

When Bulldog demanded a title shot and threw a bin and it hit Steph, he then had amnesia for a bit. So that happened on a UK PPV and carried over to Raw, so there!

When did that happen? I don't remember that.

Oh yeah, there is one little thing that I can only remember having an effect on storylines was when British Bulldog beat Crash Holly for the Hardcore title (at Insurrexion 2000 I think), then he showed up still the champion on the next Raw, and JR & King explained there had been a title change over the weekend. But then he just lost it straight back to Crash.

I think bulldog only had the hardcore title once.

Bulldog also won the Hardcore Title early on in his return to WWF TV in '99, beating I think Boss Man (but it could've been someone else), and he gave it to Al Snow.

Yup he did.
