For my visual media writing class I have to come up with an original character for the Simpsons. I can't even think of an idea to start off with. Can anyone help?

He has a girlfriend. Of course this was back when the show was fresh.

That's a tough task considering that everything has pretty much been done in the Simpsons. The obvious choices to me would be a new kid at school, or a new co-worker for Homer. Of course, like I said, those have both been done (a few times).

Other options might be a new member of the school faculty, a new friend for Marge, or maybe even a new regular at Moe's or something.

I had the idea of a retired pro wrestler moves into the neighborhood that Bart used to admire. He would be insanly out of shape and very dim witted from years of fighting.

Kinda reminds me of the retired actor from western movies that was on there last season. I think his name was Buck something. It's a good idea though, it's a more developed character than just saying he's "the new neighbor" or something like that.

Reminds me of the episode where Mr.Burns goes broke and sells his house. And who might of been the person to buy the house.....non other that Bret Hart.

A long lost sibling for Marge?

or maybe Smithers...

possibly a girlfriend for Moe.

or some oddball thing like Moe's daughter or Homer's love child from before Marge?

Simpsons is super duper satirical.

So pick someone of authority maybe, or someone who should be well-respected, and mock that person.

Examples of this kind of character: Chief Wiggum, Dr. Nick, etc.

Something like that

i think a boyfriend for lisa would be a good character. So far she really hasn't had too many friends in the whole series besides a few crushes. Develope lisa's character along with a love intrest for her.

A gothic kid.

did you ever see the South Park where they were trying to come up with funny ideas and all they could think of was simpsons shows. Well South Park has done the gothic angle really well. It would be beneath the simpsons to do goth now.

I think it would be cool if Homer and Marge have another CHildren, but this time another boy, make it look like Homer with just 3 little hairs, make lisa, maggie and bart get jealouse.

how about Carl, Lenny and Homer see Smithers alone somewhere and try to find him a woman... the women meets Smithers and finds him attractive, tries to get with him, Smithers doesn't want to let his secret out so he goes on the date... and i dunno he tries to like the woman but it really doesn't work out in the end. :-\

It's always wise to read previous posts.

How about a firefighters? One that just throws his lit cigarettes in bins filled with paper? Maybe a rival for Mr Burns. You know he went to Yale, maybe it would be good to have a homosexual Havard graduate move to Springfield, taking away everything away from Mr Burns.

Maybe there could be a band that Bart likes that resides in Springfield? I like the idea of a Mechanic/Gas Station guy though.
