Yeah so a week ago i had to reset my computer to factory settings because it had gone completely fucking mental. Now everything seemed clean however i was able to rescue all my music(maybe the meadia files were kept i don't know) anyway everything else is gone as it should have.

However I have fuck all disk space left. Anyone have any idea why this would happen?

I have found the program HP Backup and Recovery Manager Installer and it is 15,547.00MB which i am sure is way too large. However i am not sure if it is safe to delete this.

The HP Backup thing is more than likely some type of image of your computer, either a factory default system or a backup (or multiple backups) of your personalized system. If there's some type of launcher (.exe) launch it and see what happens, you may get a menu of backups which you could delete.

You can probably uninstall it without consequence but if you rely or plan to rely on HP at all they'd probably bitch at you for doing so (I have not used "technical support" in about 8 years so I personally would delete it).

Also, search your computer for really large files, usually log files. I once had a 1gig+ log file filled with the same fucking error. This type of problem can usually be found in a Program Files folder.

Though unless you know you can delete or edit it safely you shouldn't do anything, at least without asking someone about it.

Also, wiping your computer shouldn't fuck anything up. At worst, if you don't backup your favorites, music and whatnot you'd just have a completely fresh system.

Assuming you have all your system disks, obviously.

Virus scan that bastard, It may be a virus, I know of some that take up ridiculous amounts of disk space.

I don't think so Icebox.

It'll be an image of your PCs hard drive for backup. You can remove it if you want. I'm guessing you only have about a 30gb drive, if the image is 15gb and it's all gone. So I'd buy yourself a new hard drive and put it in.

Where is the image located typically? And can you mount the image and pull info off of it?
