Mind Control with Derren Brown

It's more funny than anything. He goes around a basically tricks people into giving him money or doing certain things. His method is just talking to the person and asking them things so their mind is only focused on that and not thinking about anything else and that's how he gets them. It gets repetitive though.

That and the show where he was playing Russian roulette, turned out it was blanks in the end, but they still could of hurt him as the gun was right close to his head and all.

There was ‘The Heist’ where he manipulated 3 different people to commit armed robbery

Basically he’s quite unique in what he does and the fact that’s there’s no hypnotism or junk involved just makes me even more interested as it’s all about the power of persuasion

I've only caught the first 2 episodes but you guys make it sound like the best is still yet to come. I think he's broken down the psychology but I don't think just anyone could do what he does so he's got a unique talent.

Well the Heist, the Séance and Russian routlette were 1 hour specials, the stuff on the TV show is different, as he does loads of quicker things.

The Heist:

After spending time with group of people he determined who would be the most suggestible and took them on a rigorous boot camp style thing, whilst doing this he was trying to empower them to take control, whilst doing this, he would make certain colours, symbols and music link in with that, then he sent them away and thanked them for their time. Giving them a fake gun, can’t remember think it was some kind of souvenir

They then set up a dummy street, with the colour green, an old Micheal Jackson track playing and a guy with a briefcase of money putting it into those security trucks, 3 out of the 4 guys on this test, pulled out the gun, got the ‘Money’ and pegged it.

Séance:

This was brilliant! He got 10 students together and randomly picked out cards from envolopes with details of a person who had died on the premises, they did loads of classic séance stuff, like asking the spirits to move stuff on the table and raise the table and stuff like that, at the end he basically said it was all bullshit and the women who was haunting them was sat in a truck outside, it got a record number of complaints at the time because people at home watching it thought it was real

Russian Roulette:

This was controversial, He got a group of 6 people, spent a week with them, this time to find out who he could manipulate this most, rather than who was suggestible, as the ‘winner’ was going to take a six shooter, put a bullet in one of the chambers, then give it to Derran to play Russian Roulette with, by himself. They did all of this live and yes it could have been staged, but they did a good job of making this one look authentic enough.

Then fired away (trying to make out it was meant to be the one’)
Clicked at his head again
Then fired away and the shot came out

When you watch it back you can see how he’s being suggestive with it, as he asked the dude putting the bullets in ‘Have you put ONE in yet?’ he asked that question 3 or 4 times.

Turned out the stunt was done using a blank bullet, but from that range it still would have been enough to fecking hurt, plus the eventual shot fired did go through a sandbag, so it would have been enough to do some damage.
