I started this with a comment in another thread. I'm not a true, old school wrestling fan. Back when I was a kid, I thought wrestling was really dumb and couldn't understand people watching a fake sport every week (though as someone who doesn't really watch sports in general, it made sense). It was back at the end of 1997/start of 1998 that I got into wrestling. Some new friends of mine had got me somewhat interested in video games like WCW vs. The World and WWF Warzone, and then I decided to check it out on tv.
Slowly I ended up becoming a big fan of wrestling and caught both Nitro and Raw every week. I loved almost everything, even the stuff people hated. However, 9 years later, I don't seem to care much at all for wrestling. Either my favorites have retired or had left this world a little too early. I haven't watched Smackdown regularly since Wrestlemania 19, and Raw had been a habbit that I only cared about when nothing else was on television. ECW I watched near the beginning and with the NewBreed angle involving CM Punks allegiance. Last, I never got hooked with Impact (possibly more because of having to listen to 2 of the worst commentators of all time rather than bad storylines).
I might have checked out ROH if they had a show in the area, but they don't. So with this little love of wrestling, why do I keep coming back here, talking on the forums about it, discussing it with friends in real life. I don't seem to love it, but I can't get away from it either. Even if I don't watch it regularly anymore, I still bring it up into amost any convo I have. I can relate it to any topic...hell, a paper I wrote for a economics class was on wrestling, and I got an A on it.
It seems to be a big part of my life, but I can't seem to care enough to even keep up with it anymore. Is it love of wrestling that I still keep up with it even though there is nothing in wrestling I can currently praise, or is it simply a habbit that I haven't found a way of filling with something better yet.
What are you're thoughts on wrestling. If you're posting here, obviously you still have some connection to it. What do you feel your connection is? Is a love for wrestling you can't quite describe, or just a habbit you can't seem to break?
