Hey everyone, new to the boards so, awite.
If anything could happen, e.g tv timeslots being readily avaliable and such things, would you like to see raw and smackdown going head to head, to recreate the monday night wars? Or even creating a second show, or bringing up velocity/heat to be a secondary show on a monday or thursday like smackdown was to raw?
Thoughts? :n: :y:
Cheers

That would be bad business as one show would lose ratings from viewers not tuning in. And I'd hate to say it, but it would be Smackdown I think.

Interesting idea, but I wouldn't do it.
Basically what you would do is split the existing audience, which isn't good.
I just dont see the benefit. I guess you could hope that the 'competition' would create more interest, but I think for a lot of reaosns it would backfire. two simple ones are the fact that the WWE would need to hire another TV production crew, which means you'll likely get less skilled people. And another reason is that HHH would make sure his show totally buries the other show, which would hurt the other brand.

Monday night wars with only one company...:|

I agree with what your saying. I think it could work if they could get back some fans which left, highly doubtable though as you said because one show, with triple h on, will be booked better than the other show. But if they could get another good production crew i could see vince trying it hope he dont though

It would be cool, but it woudnt matter to me. I rarely watch Smackdown now as it is. So if you put Raw vs Smackdown I would have my tv tuned into Raw every monday. It would be a stupid mood since fans are can watch it two times a week now. Putting them against each other might be good for say a monday night war angle type of thing. But I dont think McMahon wants to lose ratings just to boost a storyline.

I'd still like to see Raw and Smackdown both be live. It would increase the anticaption factor for me, knowing that they might be willing to attempt more things because they can't be spoiled.

I don't think the competition would really exist since they are both owned by the same company. There would be some coordination like one week Raw will have a good show and Smackdown won't. Then the next week they'd switch. No sense in competing with yourself.
Very intersting idea though, better for discussion than somebody else saying "they should bring back DX."

Hmmmm..............
Instead of that, have "Raw" and "Smackdown" be a part of both shows (instead of "Raw" and "Smackdown" however, they become known as the "Red" crew and the "Blue" crew).
For Raw and Smackdown, the Red Crew (formerly known as the Raw roster) always goes on for the 1st hour. So basically - the 50 to the 60th minute of WWE TV will be the Red main-event. The 1st 10 minutes will be the Red Promo.
Same for the Blue team. The 75-85th minute will be their opening promo (main-event guys cut promos, etc.), and the 110-120th minute will be the main-event.
For all the guys who didn't get TV time on Raw, can have TV time on Smackdown.
p.s. I'm not being serious here. :). Just a suggestion.

If they want to garner lost viewers, its simple....
BRING BACK DX!
Now thats out of the way, it sounds like it has potential to be a good plan, like someone suggested RAW better one week, then SmackDown! tries to top it next week and so on.
But no doubt Vince, HHH, Steph and the rest of the writing crew would find a way to bugger it all up.
As everyone has been saying, dumb yet interesting idea... It just wouldnt work out correctly, because its the same company...
I do like the idea of SmackDown going live, that would be great, and there could be more suprises... Because now, they really cant do anything giant on SmackDown, because everyone would read the spoilers and then not be suprised when it happens... So I cant see any new big signings or returns (besides cruisers) going to SmackDown without it being live...

The return DX would split Evolution by taking away Triple H, and most likely Michaels. Therefore the Kliq would once again steal all the air time, similar to now. I doubt that the returning viewers would remain loyal after DX immediately fails anyway.

I think the only way that there would be another Monday Night War would be if another wrestling company got a network deal and challenged WWE.
What would be even better was if Vince and the new guy got together and agreed that they would cameo themselves and their wrestlers on each others shows, run feuds, etc.
Then you wouldn't know which one to watch!
Can you imagine Stone Cold v Goldberg appearing on RAW and Nitro a few years ago?

I'd be very interested to se ewhat would happen if raw and smackdown were broadcasted out on the same network at the same time but on different days. I know that UPN doesn't reach as many hames as TNN and just out of curiocity i'd like to see which brandgets the better ratings

I would have to say the same thing. The reason I dont watch Smackdown is just not because of the lower talent on the show but also because that I can hop on the net the day before the show and find out what happens. It takes all the greatness away from it.
