View Full Version : What do you want to see as a movie?
<font color="#0080FF" face="Arial" Size="2">I've been thinking about all these tv shows, books, comics, etc being turned into movies so what would you guys like to see turned into a movie or if it's already being made then what are you looking forward to?
One for me would be an Angel movie although I would rather see the series be continued instead of a movie.

A faithful, non-Americanized version of the Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy would've made my day. I suppose I can wait for a remake in 20 years or so.
MGS would be pretty awesome to see on the big screen, as long as they don't treat it like every other video game movie and hand it to some hack like Uwe Boll or Paul Anderson.
And I'd still like to see a well-done Captain America movie, now that the guy who got him killed is getting his own flick.

Guitar Hero. It could be about these wannabe guitarist (based on the in-game characters with Judy Nails as the primary) entering a Rock-Off competition for various personal reasons. Like Enter the Dragon meets School of Rock. The tournament would ofcourse feature covers of the game's soundtrack, or better yet a new soundtrack that a movie tie-in game could use. The premise writes itself.

Let's see:
Hitchiker's Guide, a version that doesn't suck.
A Faithful version fo "The Shadow." I don't care if it's modernised, but let's make one that doesn't suck.
A big Budget Sherlock Holmes title. Preferably not Baskervilles or something that's been done to death.
The Dresden Files. There's a series, but the only thing is has in common with the series are the names. A Big Budget Storm Front would be kickass, but Summer Knight would be even better.
Tekkaman Blade. Tell the story in 3-4 movies, story arcs that can stand alone, but are part of a series.
Romance of the Three Kingdoms.
Probably about 8 billion more.

A Mario Bros. movie done in line with the games would make my head hurt. Though I'm honestly surprised it hasn't been attempted.
On a different note, I'd like to see someone do a really good King Arthur movie. No fucking around with the legend and making him Roman or some other stupid crap; just a solid adaptation of The Once and Future King or Morte d'Arthur would be nice.

The problem with King Arthur is that the story has been told so often, people tend to try and "change" it. You know, to improve shit. Usually fails, but....
It's also not unsurprising that people would want to go to the Roman roots of Arthur, since a fair portion of the legend comes from them.
That being said, I'd really like a traditional Arthur.
However, if you're gonna go the route of a semi-historical Arthur, go for an adaptation of "Mad Merlin." I thoroughly enjoyed the book, which has no pretenses of historical accuracy, but uses a Roman and British backdrop.

It's a great story of tyranny and betrayal.. Prolly my favorite King book..
On a similar subject, they are in post production the short story he wrote called The Mist.. They shot it in Shreveport and I went in the grocery store set and got to see all the monsters and shit last time I was out there.. It was pretty sweet..
Cabal by Clive Barker would make a good movie..

I hope they never ever even attempt a Zelda movie. Not only would they give Link lines, I bet he would be American. So would Zelda and any other character except Ganondorf who would have either a Middle Eastern accent or an "evil genuis" English accent.

Well a lot of the names and ideas are present in Celtic mythology so Scotland or something would be good.
Epona is a celtic goddess of horses, The deku tree is similair to a life giving tree in celtic myth, Zeldas clothing looks alot like the clothes the "Princess of Summer" was depicted wearing although sometimes it's changed to green. Zoras are in Scottish mythology but they are called Finfolk and even have the underwater palace but the ones in myth tend to kill fishermen. There are alot of other things but you know where I'm going with this. The characters could be Scottish or Irish or something.
There are Roman things in Zelda games as well but the Celtic stuff stands out more to me.

I agree totally with KK's idea of an RoTK movie. Personally, I'd love one that focuses on the 3 Brothers, Lu Bu/Diao Chan/Dong Zhuo, and Cao Cao.
Even more though, I'd absolutely love a movie based off the Suikoden video game (and the second one too.)
Unfortunately, it'd probably have to be done LotR style and done in 2 or 3, 3 hours movies, to be done properly. Since very few people know the game, it'd never work. I just think there's a lot of stuff, in both games, that would translate great to a movie.

The Deku Tree and Zoras connections can fir both into Roman mythology (Which you've already noticed a connection to anyway), several Native tribes, Norse mthology, and I think both exist in Japanese folklore.
Zelda also has many persian influences, as well as Indian. And probably DOZENS of others.
So remind me again...Why would he be Scottish?

Well, I'm not totally versed in every myth from every culture so I probably overlooked a few things. I read up on celtic stuff from time to time so thats the stuff that really stuck with me.
I think they've put in so many influences from so many cultures, you could probably see it fit whatever culture you prefer, almost.
It's just the forests, lakes, mountains and fields as well as certain peices of music, the green tunic and all the mythological similarities that I have and haven't mentioned have made me think Link would be Scottish or Irish.
Being the Zelda fanboy I am and having an interest in myths and legends, I've always wanted to see where each influence comes from but I've never gotten around to it.

Superman is Dead: The Reign of the Supermen
-Film versions of Superboy, the Cyborg, Steel and the Eradicator fighting for control of Metropolis and recognition as THE superman, the destruction of the entire state of California (HAHAHAHA!!!) and the return of Superman would make this an incredible movie.
Siddhartha
-A filmic translation of Hermann Hesse's masterwork.
Walt Disney's "Nightmare"
-An old-school, hand-drawn animated feature film starring all of Disney's famous characters (Mickey Mouse, Minnie Mouse, Pluto, Goofy, Donald Duck) in a murder mystery similiar to "SCREAM," where all of the characters are brutally and gruesomely murdered, except for Mickey, who is left to solve the case and catch the killer.
Snakes on a Plane
-They should make a movie about these terrorists putting these huge snakes on an airplane, and because it's an airplane, there's no way to get out, and the snakes are evil and venomous and lots of people get bitten and eaten and die, and a quick-talking black dude saves the day at the end. That would be sooooooo keeewwl.

I just recentilly read the first volume of the marvel runaways series and while not the best comic i have read (it was entertaining though) the whole thing just screams movie to me.
The premise is that 6 kids find out that they parents are all supervillians part of a organisation called the pride. They go into hiding while trying to figure out how to put thier parents away for good.
The first arc is perfect for a two hour movie. First 45 minutes can be introducing the main players and how they found out about thier parents. The middle movie can be a fight scene with the parents plus some more character development and the final scene can be the long withdrawn showdown with thier parents.
And the story contains some perfect visuals to attract the kiddies. One kid is a witch, one is a multi coloured alien and another character own a dinosaur as a pet. The kiddie brigade will eat this up in droves
