World Wrestling Entertainment's Stephanie McMahon and John Laurinaitis held a meeting with the Smackdown and ECW talent last night in Cincinnati, Ohio prior to yesterday's television tapings to discuss new changes to the WWE Wellness Policy:
*The company will begin to test for marijuana shortly. A positive will not result in a suspension but all positives will be met with a fine of, at least, $1000 per offense.
*The company will also begin testing for anti-estrogen drugs, which can be taken to offset some of the effects of steroid and HGH use. A positive for any anti-estrogen agents will result in Wellness suspensions.
*The company also announced that any new potential hires will have to undergo and pass the WWE Wellness test before they are signed to the company. Credit PWInsider

Tabacco has thousands of chemicals, natural and added, Marijuana has under 100.
I am from Canada, so luckily our government does some serious research on the subject, as there is a large group who want to see it legalized, and it is brought up every year.
Marijuana might make you forget where you left your keys, or make you feel hungry, but I'm never going to over dose on it.

Short sighted views on the topic my friend. The problem with weed when compared to other toxins is the effect it has on the body. Tobacco indeed has a lot more chemicals, but sadly, many of them are harmless. Why do I say sadly, because we as a culture have been raised to distrust chemicals based on name alone. Anti-Tobacco movements have shaped our views based on half truths and scare tactics. You do know that water is a chemical correct? Are you going to argue the addition of the chemical H20 is a dangerous act? Of course not. Now I'm not saying tobacco is good for you, but it's hardly comparable to that of marijuana. The only thing positive about the pot in comparison would be that it's damage to the lungs is about one third that of tobacco...oh and weed isn't a physically addictive substance.
There has been a lot of research into the usage and effects of marijuana, and if people would take the time to research the research instead of relying on little pro-pot flyers that are passed out or anti-pot commercials to get their information it would be easier to have an actual conversation about it.
The problem with pot usage is that people don't really know what the fuck they are doing to their bodies. They also don't know that marijuana is one of the MOST addictive substances mentally. It's a tricky one at that as well because unlike alcohol or even cocaine, THC sticks in your system for extended periods of time, and as with most drugs, you need to allow your body to pass it through the system before you add more in. Like when you go out drinking, you get drunk, you wake up the next morning you don't start pounding back more Jack Daniels unless your an alcoholic with a very serious problem. Not only a problem personally, but also a problem in that your body needs about 18 hours to let the liquor pass, so your compiling the drug flowing through your body, and everything that flows through your body has a chemical reaction in your brain. Well the brain begins to need more and more boose to get to an even level. Same thing with pot, only weed sticks in the system for 3 to 4 days (for a rare/never user). That's 3 to 4 days you shouldn't be taking another hit for. Most stoners smoke a couple times a day, well all you're doing is chemically making your brain dependent on the drug. Your brain no longer has to control endorphins because weed takes over as the trigger, which is why former stoners who are quitting are usually very unhappy people.
And weather or not people like to admit it, it does cause huge laps of judgment in many users. Weed basically restricts the passageways of the brain, in effect causing a traffic jam mentally. Which is one of the reasons that weed makes accomplishing tiny tasks such a rewarding thing. Your brain, in many ways, don't even take the time to comprehend how little you achieved by beating that level of Mario, it just knows that you finished something that you worked on, so it rewards you psycho-chemically by physically making you happy...the part where it would regulate how happy you should be is still held up in the jam. Also another reason why stoners tend to think they're great artists, they do something even a 6th grader could do with a poem or a song writing, and their brains don't understand that it sucks or that it's missing X-Y-or-Z to make it good, it just knows it finished something. So, you feel proud of yourself.
Also, one of the first areas to go in your brain is planning or foresight. Hence why so many makes such terrible terrible choices while high. The information that would tell your brain this is a terrible idea is slow to get to the forefront of your mind so by the time you've figured out this is stupid, you're mid action usually. And have you ever known a stoner who can't seem to plan past today even when he's not high, compounded the effects stay in your system for longer and longer periods and sometimes even perminately. Again going back to most pot smokers don't allow it to fully pass through your body beore dumping more in.
Look, I'm not saying don't enjoy marijuana. I think it should be your right to choose personally. BUT I think that we need to get real information out there and let people know how it works and what it does to you. Not rely on scare tactics using old cliched images or rely on potheads to tell you it does nothing bad. It does terrible things to your body, but it's an enjoyable experience. I think so long as you are using it RESPONSIBLY it should be up to you...just like alcohol and tobacco. Just, PLEASE don't be ignorant about, that's what causes these dumb asses to convince themselves that they can drive just as well or better when they're stoned.

Processed cigarettes, not tobacco itself. Common misnomer with potsmokers.
Thankfully, you're Canadian. Oh wait, most of the legitimate research done in Canada is by the same people doing the research in America. But at least you have a large group who wants to see it legalised, and there's no such thing in America.
I note you failed to address caffeine and alcohol, specifically. Interestingly, while you might not overdose on marijuana, irresponsible use will still kill you. Especially something like alcohol, one of the most common substances to be combined with pot use. Not to mention the issue of tar, one of the big killers in tobacco. "My caricinogen's safer than yours, even though it's the same thing and in larger doses, actually."
Caffeine will raise your blood pressure, but then, so will pot, and Caffeine won't mess up your memory with repeated use. Come to think of it, when's the last time someone died of caffeine? Forgetting your car keys? Yeah, funny how you "forgot" the judgement impairing factors. Ah well.

I don't see an issue with wrestlers getting high on pot, unless it's before matches, as it does play around with your coordination, which could lead to you injuring someone. Besides that, it's pretty harmless.

When did the wrestling forum become the discussion forum?
Personally I think it should be legal, well in the UK, I haven’t done it for years, but there’s loads of people that will get it regardless through illegal means, at least if weed was made legal and manufactured correctly, the government could tax it and *hopefully* reduce taxes in other area’s.
It would never happen, I’m an ‘each to his own’ kind of guy so I don’t care what anyone wants to do to themselves as long as it doesn’t effect me.
If it can make you forget things more frequently then in a wrestling ring that ‘could’ be dangerous, but I had a match last weekend where I totally forgot everything we had planned and just had to wing it, it happens.
I’d like to hope that no one would ever go out there whilst high and wrestle, but then the same could be said for going out drunk and wrestling, should they be doing breathalyzer tests next? Why will this stop?
I really have no clue where I’m going with this, but in my view as long as you show up for work in a fit state to do your job, that should be ok. If I started getting tested for weed for my job I’d be pretty pissed off as what I do in my own time is up to me.

True, but you look at alot of places that do drug tests and even for smokin the sticky green, your fired. Hell the military's rules basically state that if your caught smokin, your done for...career wise.
$1000 a pop seems like alot, but not when you look at other places and see their rules about the same subject as well.

To be fair, the kinds of jobs that fire you for doing pot are the kinds of jobs with life and death on the line, i.e. the military, being a doctor, and so on. Wrestling is no where near that serious. And they also have a moral issue in WWE that needs to be considered. I mean these guys are on the road all year, they literally bust their asses for a living, and they still have all the normal pressures of life. Honestly, who gives a fuck if they toke up after a show? This $1000 fine is to show WWE is doing something, while not cracking down to hard on the boys that make them money.
I personally never touch the stuff as I have better things to do with my time and money. But I'm not going to look down my nose at RVD or whoever for smoking pot to come down after a long day of traveling and getting tossed around a ring. And personally, I think it would be a little too stiff for the wrestlers to get fired for smoking pot.
