Running Windows XP Home, if it matters.
I first noticed it because my Inspire Firewire unit stopped working, but I thought it was just that. Then every USB port I had stopped working. I shut down my computer and checked the disk for errors on startup, and it seemed to work fine after, but I switched my extrnal HDD over to firewire to be safe. Now the firewire isn't being recognised, though hardware manager (Whatever it's called) says it's working fine. I'm betting I'd have the same USB problem as before, if I unplugged anything (Ports only stopped working if they weren't plugged in before the failure, or if I disconnected from the port).
Now, my Firewire ports come from a card running on a PCI slot, but my USB ports are almost all, if not all, off my motherboard. So what I'm wondering is , does this sound like it could be a bigger issue with my motherboard?
