Anybody else a big fan of this movie or even the comics if you've read those? I remember being really into it as a kid where I had a lof of the action figures.
The thing I really like about this movie was the array of villians that appear throughout the movie. They all had interesting names and looks to them.
My favorite seen is probably the opening scene where Lips' boys are playing cards and they can shot up by Big Boys gang.
Great movie.

Dick Tracy was created and drawn in a town (Woodstock) 20 minutes from my house. Dick Tracy Days are celebrated every summer. Also, much of Groundhog's Day was filmed in the Woodstock square so they show that movie every Groundhog's Day for free.
Incidentally, I haven't seen the Dick Tracy movie since I was about 6 or 7 so I don't remember much about it.

Great adaptation of the character concept. It's not the best it could have been, but I loved the retro atmosphere.

I always thought that movie did a really good job. It was kinda ahead of it's time with the outlandish characters.

Was hugely obsessed with it as a kid despite never having actually seen it. Still haven't.
I saw the movie as a kid and I had a Dick Tracey watch. I don't know why I had one though.

I loved the cartoon as a kid. I had a watch, the walkie talkies and the really shitty NES game.

How is something ahead of its time if all it is doing is retro?

yeah I loved this movie. Flattop was my favorite as well. For Halloween the next year I dressed up as Flattop and a friend as Dick Tracy.
I was always hoping for a sequel, but they pretty much killed off every villian in the movie.
